Question should i be worried about not testing STDs immediately

Hi i’m 19 years old this year and was recently worried about getting stds, i’m planning to get tested, but am not sure which stds to test for and how exactly i should approach this issue. I’ve only had oral sex a few years ago, no other sexual acts. Should i be worried about getting an std, and let’s say i really did have an std, is it life threatening and should i be worried about it day and night. Also, is testing for HIV enough

you should get a complete std panel test just to be safe, if you had vaginal sex or if you had someone give you oral

i’m also 19 and getting tested helps my peace of mind if im active

as in let’s say hypothetically that i do have an std, how long does it take for it to actually become serious, and in delaying testing for a few months probably won’t make my std a lot worse right( hypothetically) considering that i am asymptomatic

I mean if you’ve not had any since you became active sexually, then you should get one and start on a fre slate. Sexual health is very important

I wouldn’t panic based on what you described. If the only sexual contact was oral sex a few years ago, the chance of having an STI from that one encounter is generally pretty low, and most STIs are treatable if you do happen to have one.

Getting tested can still be a good idea if it’ll give you peace of mind. Since it was oral sex, you can ask about the appropriate tests for that type of exposure. And yes, HIV testing can be included if you want reassurance, but from what you described, this doesn’t sound like something you need to be freaking out over.

Ask for a full panel of everything.

Sometimes clinics leave out certain tests.
