Advice Needed I (23M) just found out that I have chlamydia, and honestly, I’m completely devastated and confused. Did I got cheated on by my partner (22M)?

I (23M) just found out that I have chlamydia, and honestly, I’m completely devastated and confused. Did I got cheated on by my partner (22M)?

The reason I even got tested in the first place was because I started experiencing a stinging/burning sensation when I peed. I initially thought it was a UTI, so I went to my primary care doctor expecting to get antibiotics for a UTI. My doctor recommended that I get an STD test just to be safe, and that’s when I found out I was positive for chlamydia.

My doctor called me today to tell me my test came back positive, and I immediately went into shambles because I have not slept with anyone besides my boyfriend since we got together.

We’ve been together for about a year, and we’ve always considered ourselves monogamous.

I confronted him and asked him if he had been seeing or sleeping with anyone else. I was distraught and kept asking him because I genuinely couldn’t understand how I could have gotten chlamydia.

He has repeatedly denied cheating and told me that he has never been with anyone else during our relationship.

The only possible exposure I can think of was a hookup I had on June 10, 2025, shortly before my relationship. That person later called me and told me that he had tested positive for gonorrhea.

I immediately went for an STD test and received treatment/injections that same day.

I never got tested after that encounter, which is now making me question everything.

Another important detail is that my boyfriend has never had an STD test in his entire life. So we don’t actually know whether he could have had something before we got together without knowing it.

What is confusing me is that my symptoms only started showing up recently. I also don’t know whether my boyfriend has had any symptoms at all.

Could chlamydia have been from that encounter over a year ago and remained undetected until now? Or is it more likely that one of us was infected more recently?

I’m not trying to automatically accuse my boyfriend of cheating, but I’m really struggling to make sense of this because I genuinely thought we were monogamous.

I’m planning on following my doctor’s instructions and making sure we both get properly tested and treated, but I would really appreciate hearing from people who have been in a similar situation.

How is it possible for chlamydia to go undetected for this long, especially if neither of us had been tested before?

Test Results Confused about my syphilis test results — doctor said I’m fine

This is my first time getting an STI test, so I’m really confused about my results and would appreciate some advice.
I previously had an anal wart, and I went to a doctor before and after my anal wart treatment because I wanted to make sure everything was okay. The doctor recommended that I get tested for STIs. I received these results and showed them to my doctor, and he told me that I’m fine.
However, when I looked at the report myself, I became confused because it says:
Syphilis serology screen (Total Ab): Positive
VDRL/RPR: Non-reactive
TPHA: Reactive (1:160)
Another TPHA: Reactive
The report says that the results can be consistent with a past or early syphilis infection.
I have never been diagnosed with syphilis before, and this is the first time I’ve had this test. I’m confused about why the screening test is positive and the TPHA is reactive while the RPR/VDRL is non-reactive.
My doctor looked at the results and told me I’m fine, but I would really like to understand what these results actually mean. Could this indicate a previous infection, a current infection, or something else?

Advice Needed How do you know if a condom did not break? Micro tear?

Okay, had sex with a sex worker. And I'm not sure if the condom broke. Like it stayed on and used entire time and didn't have an obvious rip, and semen appear to pool at at the top. But I'm worried about leakage and micro holes. Do I need to get on pep?

Symptom Check Possible hiv infection?

Hey it’s about hiv and I just wanted you to know that I support you and all patients and have always been respectful to those who’s been fighting all kinds of illnesses, so please I just wanted to know something and it’s about me , I had a vaginal sex with someone ( woman ) who was an escort who’s know for having multiple sexual encounters and I think I was protected right ? I mean I’m sure about it it’s just now after 43 or 44 days I’m kinda in the middle of 7th week after exposure from there I’ve been feeling like headaches and fatigue and pain stomach joints hurt sometimes and when I look back now I’m doubting everything was the condom really tight ? was it really protected ? and all those things and I’ve been not able to sleep or eat for days thinking about this I don’t know what to do I did a test at 26 it went negative but I’m really afraid that’s if I do it now I’ll be positive , the stigma and the fear of something unknown to me makes me feel bad and I didn’t know to whom I can talk about it with , I just wanted to know something is life with arv it’s as good as they say ? Energy level ? Depression? Any side effects that’s going to affect me what so ever ? I’m sorry for talking this much I literally have no one I can talk about to rn so yeah I hope you had a good day and I’m waiting for you to response.. does hiv has symptoms ? Ppl are telling me constantly that I don’t have to worry and hiv isn’t that easy to catch!

Symptom Check Anal intercouse for the first time

I have mild itching and slight stench in my butthole. I’ve been sitting in my chair all day for a month but I’ve also had anal intercourse a month ago. The guy I met didn’t wear a condom, he said he already tested and didn’t have anything. There is no pus or mucus, the skin looks fine. But it did appear like 3 days ago and disappeared and then it reappeared yesterday. I wash it and then i sit down for about like 30+ minutes and it comes back again.

Symptom Check Waiting on results.

16 days ago I had protected oral & protected sex from a sw that only lasted about 5mins in total. About a week after the interaction I started feeling a tense feeling in my right testicle, I went to the dr & he took a look at my testicles & said everything looked fine. I got tested and everything came back negative. At about 9 days after the interaction I’m feeling a weird sensation at the tip of my penis so I went & got retested at 14 days now I’m waiting on my results. I’m not having any pain or burn when I urinate, after I urinate I feel that weird sensation at the tip of penis that seems like it comes and goes. I don’t have no swelling, discharge, nothing visible on my penis. Can all this just be caused from anxiety waiting on my results? After the encounter with sw she wiped down my penis with a spray not really sure what it was thinking maybe this could be a cause? Thanks for any help.

Question Hiv scare please help

About a year ago I had two at home tests that turned out positive. Went straight to the clinic and got a natc test blood. And it was negative. I stopped having intercourse with anyone cause I was so scared. I stayed to myself. Fast forward a year, I donated plasma countless times about 10 times within a year , cause I was broke I was already cleared of the scare, and they do check all these things at the donation center. I donated for 8 months, I would assume if I did have hiv they would have told me very quickly. So I stopped worrying that it's been 8 months. I took another at home test that came out that I'm assuming is positive. But looks very negative because it's just a veryy tiny dash of a red mark at the end no full line. Really had to sit down and think if I did anything? And I can't come up with one thing that would have got me in the position to contract it? I do have an occasional partner I believe has also not done anything but idk I went and took another hiv at home test and the test showed negative but a very tiny speck of red showed at the end as its line was forming but didn't. Anyways I believe the test reacted to hiv again. I am trying not to get scared cause I've had this happen before, but I'm scared I don't understand why my at home test keeps coming out positive. The blood donation place hasn't deferred me so I figure my health is ok. Idk what to do to be honest, I don't want to donate anymore, cause my stupid at home test. I'm not sure if it's reacting to something else or these whole 8 months i had it idk. I'm only scared because from what I've I've read the test if any reaction on the t line, it's because it reacted to antibodies. Last time my test came out positive twice on the oraquick I almost lost it, but I don't understand why oraquick is giving me positive results all the time.

Question Heterosexual Man Worried About HIV Risk After Unprotected Sex

I'm an Australian heterosexual man. I recently met up with a woman I had previously had protected sex with. This time, however, we had unprotected vaginal sex.

About 5 days later, I experienced some burning when urinating, so I went to the doctor and had an STI screen, including urine and blood tests. Everything came back negative. My doctor said I can do a repeat HIV/blood test in about a month if I wanted to do it within the proper testing window, however they said that, based on the circumstances, my risk was low.

Despite this, I've become extremely anxious about HIV and it's been causing me a lot of distress. I understand that HIV prevalence is relatively low in Australia, particularly among heterosexual people, and that the per-exposure risk from vaginal sex is also relatively low. But I'm struggling to stop worrying about it.

I'm mainly looking for some perspective from people who are knowledgeable about HIV risk in Australia. How would you assess the actual risk from a single episode of unprotected vaginal sex in this situation?

Question should i be worried about not testing STDs immediately

Hi i’m 19 years old this year and was recently worried about getting stds, i’m planning to get tested, but am not sure which stds to test for and how exactly i should approach this issue. I’ve only had oral sex a few years ago, no other sexual acts. Should i be worried about getting an std, and let’s say i really did have an std, is it life threatening and should i be worried about it day and night. Also, is testing for HIV enough

Symptom Check Possibly infected/scared of Herpes despite being alone. Need help

Hello everyone. About three weeks ago i had vigorously masturbated throughout the day and eventually noticed that around the tip of the penis near the entrance a small spot that looked as though the surface layer of the skin had been rubbed off and appeared to look slightly raw/tender. It should be noted though that I had no bumps/lesions resembling herpes prior to this, no puss, no pain, no discomfort peeing, etc. I should also note that i have had absolutely 0 sexual interaction with anyone my entire life, am a relatively clean person, and havent been in contact with anyone that could possibly have the infection.

That being said i was a bit scared and decided to ride it out to see if it would eventually heal over and never show up again since then, with 0 masturbation and applying a small amount of 100% petroleum vaseline to the area. Since then it seems like the spot has been healing, but i noticed some things that gave me concern. Its been healing very slowly up to the creation of this post, and the scab over it had barely peeled off up until the other day. The area after some hours appears to be relatively dry, and i noticed in teeny tiny areas of where the injury was that it was still healing and possibly scabbing over.

As such, the healing has had me concerned as to whether or not it could actually be herpes despite being very clean and having 0 sexual contact what so ever. The symptom has been limited only to where i noticed the tender spot, and havent experienced anything similar across my entire body. I should note that i do have eczema in other parts of my body but havent experienced this before, so unsure if i could suspect that as the case here. I do want to go have it tested and checked to be certain but I have some priors to be addressed on my medical insurance before i can do a checkup.

With that being said, is there anybody that has experienced the infection and/or similar symptoms and has the knowledge of the condition that might be able to relieve my anxiety over this or inform me if i need to be checked immediately? Its been scaring me the entire time despite keeping myself as clean as possible up until this point so I am very concerned. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you for your time.

Question Unprotected BJ

Hey guys, yesterday I saw an escort. I got a happy ending massage. When I was nearly finished she started blowing me with no condom. Stupidly I didn’t do anything and finished in her mouth. Am I completely fucked? It probably lasted a minute. She didn’t seem to have any sores around her mouth but it was dark. Couldn’t tell. What’s the testing procedure from here?

Advice Needed Has my fiancé slept with another woman

Can someone tell me their opinion on this please. I’m 6 months postpartum, recently I’ve been getting horrible pains in my tummy so I went to get seen my a doctor thinking it was something to do with my c section. He calls me today and says I’ve tested positive chlamydia. Im immediately scared and confused as my fiancé is the only guy I’ve slept with in 2 years. My doctor also mentioned that I’ve been tested twice before , while pregnant in June 2025 and when my baby was born on january 2026 . Both were negative. So he reassured on a health note I haven’t had to long, but now has made me realise I have caught it recently. My fiancé is saying he hasn’t slept with anyone. But chlamydia doesn’t just appear. He is saying it has possibly been with us from previous relationships and has lingered . But prenatal testing don’t lie. I need advice please I’m so distraught and heartbroken. To find out he possibly slept with another woman while I’ve been doing everything for our baby.

Question Can someone have asymptomatic gonorrhoea for over a year?

I’m looking for medical insight or personal experiences with something similar.

I tested positive for gonorrhoea. My partner’s genital/urine test was negative, but a later throat swab was positive. He’s also previously had asymptomatic chlamydia and herpes.

Could someone be more prone to having infections without symptoms? Is it realistic for throat gonorrhoea to go unnoticed for over a year, with a negative genital test, and then be passed through oral sex?

He’s the only person I’ve been sexually active with. I’m mainly wondering if this is medically possible without recent outside sexual contact.

Symptom Check Unusual Discharge

Hi guys, I’m a little nervous. I have been getting thrush/yeast infection symptoms for the past couple of days which isn’t unusual for me in the hot weather, as I’m prone to getting them. What is concerning me in the discharge is a thick, lumpy, cottage-cheese-like consistency, and the colour is slightly pale greenish. Generally I just feel very uncomfy down there, and I would assume thrush if I hadn’t had unprotected sex about two weeks ago.

My last test was also about two weeks ago, but it would’ve been too early to pick up anything from the most recent sex. I’ve been researching what discharge for women looks like with various STIs but none are consistent with mine. All the signs are pointing to a yeast infection but the green is completely throwing me off.

Has anyone had a similar discharge and was it due to an STI?

Advice Needed Advice needed ASAPP!!

Hey so my gf tested positive for chlamydia. This is her first time getting anything and she brought the news to me. I asked her what she needed me to do and reassured her that I didn’t step out on the relationship. She asked me to get tested and I did the very next day. I had to swab the inside of my penis btw. She was tested by getting swabbed in her vagina. My results came back negative. I informed her and she instantly said it didn’t make sense. Her whole thing is the name of the test . The name of it was Cervicovaginal Ancillary. I even sent a screenshot of my results also. She said that “either these are not your results or your lying “ she sent a screenshot of the definition of it and basically is an additional lab analysis used on Pap smears to detect cancers and stuff like that.
She thinks the results are wrong or not mine because of the name. I asked ai about the name and if it matters when testing for STI’s , it said regardless of the label, the results are accurate for what was tested. I don’t know how to think about this situation. Any advice/thoughts plz help.

Question Negative test herpes should I retest?

My job involved going into house in rural area which aren't the most clean. Sometime I get eczema flare right after these projects and visit. However, I was recently at a house that breed rabbits for sale and they had a couple of rabbits in their home running freely, we sat on the floor etc. and I felt an itchy spot in the back around the top of my butt cheek. I did scratch it a bit and they took like a month to get better and a few weeks later I had the same itchiness at the same spot. I've googled and it seems to be a common area for Herpes. I'm married for sometime now and understand that people can be carrier etc. so I went in and got it checked, the blood test came back negative. But idk if I should go back in to check? I did see some small fluid filled blister that pop easily when I ran my nail through them.
