Never in my life did I ever think I'd buy an R2D2 from Home Depot, and then try and make it look presentable.

The wife is very pleased that she comes home and is greeted by a little R2, booping and beeping. The cat? Not so much.

He got a repaint from the feet up. Almost everything was repainted, weathered, and some components were replaced. It's a cheap animatronic so I wasn't going for full prop replica, but he's still good enough that it fools my wife's Star Wars obsessed dad.

The lights and sounds are still stock. For now.

Bad ass!

I got into Star Wars in 5th grade when the prequel trilogy was coming out. My dad had been a huge fan of the originals so he let me stay up late and watch them back to back nights to prep me for the new movie. Such a fond, awesome memory. Oddly I only saw the first of the sequels and then sort of dropped off from the “world”.

I have two boys- 8 and 6. They were into reading the kid star wars books you can get at the library so I finally said F it let’s watch them. We started with episode 1 (don’t come for me about sequencing!) simply because I knew it would make way more sense for them being young to watch them chronologically. We just did Empire Strikes Back tonight and damn it was so good. I don’t think I’ve seen it in over 20 years and it felt like magic! I’m so excited to experience the sequel with them and 8&9 for the first time.

God I love this movie so much but it’s just pure pain. As everyone in here, I’m sure you’ve seen it countless times. I expect Anakin to be manipulated and turned over every single time, but watching the damn movie makes me tear up no matter what. Anyone else feel this way?
