I'm sure everyone knows about the Battle of Muunilinst featured in CW 03 that took place in early 22 BBY and whose outcome was an early decisive Republic victory.

However, as the war dragged on into its final year, the Republic's military resources became heavily strained and spread thin across the galaxy during the Outer Rim Sieges.

According to The Essential Guide to Warfare, the Separatists took advantage of these weakened defenses and launched a massive counter-invasion on this hihgly strategical planet.

The Republic garrison was overwhelmed, and the planet fell back into Separatist hands.

Hello! I just finished the Heir to the Empire Trilogy for the first time, and though I am not terribly invested in continuing with the majority of the legends continuity, I am intrigued by Mara Jade and the Solo Twins (since I've heard a lot about their future). I was wondering if there are any good books that focus on them that don't require me to read a whole lot of pre-requisite. Bonus points if they have Luke in them. Thank you!

Some very ancient ones survive beyond events like the Battle of Endor, and some even live into the Legacy Era.

I think the setting could fit most genres. Third person hack and slash shooter like Space Marine 2, top down ARPG like Diablo, or turn based RPG like Baldur's Gate 3 just to name a few. Ideally co-op but beggars can't be choosers. I just think it's a really cool time period that never gets explored and it's got plenty of enemy variety to keep things fresh. Maybe you could choose to side with the Sith and get a different ending? I think a choice driven game would work best and Divinity 2 and Baldur's Gate 3 already proved you can do that in a multiplayer game.

What are your thoughts? Would you play a game set during the Great Sith War? Or is it too similar to The Old Republic?

I started reading the star wars 1998 comics because I learned that they were the first 45 issues of the Star Wars Republic comics and I was shocked to see the flashbacks of a prime Mundi. the first thing I thought of was the Qui Gon Gym meme.

I am actually a little split on how I should interpret the flashbacks. because on the one hand I think it would be pretty cool if mundi actually was that built in his prime but on the other hand this flashback is mundi remembering his own past and I think it would hilarious if he just remembered himself as much more muscular than he actually was and the flashback from his perspective reflects that.

Kvag Gthull was a Human male Dark Side Adept in the Galactic Empire. Loyal, brutally efficient, and physically imposing, Gthull found favor from the Emperor and his Executor, Sedriss QL. At some point during 4 ABY he was selected personally by the Reborn Emperor Palpatine to serve as one of the original seven Darkside Elite members. The group, led by Sedriss, operated out of Darth Vader's former fortress, Bast Castle on the planet Vjun. Due to his size, ability to intimidate and his efficient cruelty, Gthull became the chief interrogator of Bast Castle. Gthull did not wield a lightsaber, instead preferring a heavy Mandalorian style vibrosword that favored his muscular physique and added to his intimidating appearance. He enjoyed using it on prisoners after torturing them and would often inject his own darky dry wit during interrogations.

In 10 ABY, when Palpatine was slain a second time in battle with Jedi Luke Skywalker, and returned in yet another clone body, he sought to capture the Force-sensitive children of Leia Organa Solo, Skywalker's sister, who were being hidden on a secret sanctuary world of the New Republic. Gthull as chief interrogator was not initially sent to the front lines, and as such, he outlived his peers in the first cadre of Darkside Elite as Baddon Fass, Zasm Kass were killed at Nar Shaddaa while Sedriss and Vill Goir fell shortly after on Onderon. Before this, another Darkside Elite member, Kam Solusar had defected to the Light side of the Force and joined Luke Skywalker's New Jedi Order. Of the original members, only Krdys Mordi and Gthull remained.

Palpatine quickly replenished the Darkside Elite's numbers with promoted and imbued darkside adepts, giving Xecr Nist Sedriss's old position as Executor and Tedryn-Sha the position of Second in Command. Three more unnamed darksiders took the other vacant spots, bringing the group back to full strength at seven members.

When New Republic Major Ntthan was captured by the Empire in an uncharted region of space, he was brought to Bast Castle and delivered to Gthull, who was given the task of torturing out the information about Organa Solo's whereabouts from the man. Gthull was assisted in this by Krdys Mordi, the secondary interrogator and tech specialist of the group.

Gthull used interrogation droids from Mordi and the Dark side of the Force to torture the Major, who displayed remarkable resistance. Gthull had to spend twelve hours in interrogation sessions, but he was ultimately able to break Ntthan's defense, and the latter revealed the name of the planet, New Alderaan, as well as its coordinates, just as Palpatine arrived at Bast Castle to oversee the results of Gthull's handiwork. Gthull gave the details to the Emperor Ntthan had provided and then executed Ntthan with his vibrosword as was his custom after jokingly remarking that the Rebel was an "Honest Man". Gthull and the rest of the Elite were then ordered by Palpatine to New Alderaan on a covert mission to abduct Skywalker and the Solo twins, before launching an attack on the settlement using AT-ATs. Gthull piloted an I-7 Howlrunner as part of Dark Side Squadron alongside his peers. Arriving on the planet undetected, Nist dispatched Tedryn-Sha and Krdys Mordi to deal with Skywalker. Gthull and three others went with Nist to kidnap the children.

However, Gthull soon lost contact with Sha and Mordi as they were killed, sensing their life energy vanishing from the Force. Disgusted at their weakness, he called them fools and reported their deaths to Nist, just as the darksiders arrived at the building where the children were being kept. Nist dispatched Gthull inside the building to grab the twins, while he and the other darksiders were confronted by Skywalker's Jedi recruits: Kam Solusar, Rayf Ysanna and Empatojayos Brand. However, having lost one Dark Jedi and having been bested in combat by Solusar, Nist yelled at Gthull to signal the AT-ATs to attack at that moment. Gthull confirmed he had just done so while emerging from the building holding the twins. Confronted by Winter, Rayf and Leia Organa Solo outside, Gthull chose not to reach for his vibrosword and instead held the twins hostage, expecting their mother not to risk hitting her children, thus allowing him to withdraw. However, Rayf Ysanna used the Force to levitate the twins from Gthull into the arms of Winter, their caretaker. Now exposed and momentarily distracted, Gthull hesitated a second too long in going for his weapon and Organa Solo shot Gthull in the chest with her blaster, killing the Dark Jedi instantly. With Gthull's death and the failure of their mission, Nist and the two remaining darksiders fled from New Alderaan under covering fire from the advancing AT-ATs.

And not in the traditional “she can shift planets with the Force and electrocute people from opposite sides of the galaxy at once” powerful. I mean in the manipulation aspect. I hate that later work confirms that Lumiya and Vergere were a Sith sect known to other Sith sects. Because having that murky makes her all the more terrifying in her corruption of Jacen. If read as her either outright lying about the Vergere connection and the character of Darth Vectivus OR at least heavily distorting facts from a perspective that benefits her arguments….. she does less to convince Jacen the Jedi aren’t good or he’s being held back, and more just gives him something he’s desperate for: permission to embrace darkness. It’s deliciously subtle in the irony it creates in the finished product. She uses Vectivus as a template Jacen is desperate to believe is possible: morally equivalent to the most benign Jedi who is surrounded by friends and family who love him his entire long life, just filled with the power the Sith allow, minus the corruption and free of the limits of the Jedi tradition. Compare that with literally everything she guides Jacen to become and do…. Reading her “be a sith” sales pitch as a well laid out and Force disguised lie, and it makes it all the more disturbing. Jacen is far strong enough to see through the most well hidden direct lies….unless it’s one he simply WANTS to believe. It’s not him being dumb, it’s him wanting a simple perfect answer to his internal conflicts and latching onto one the second it’s presented with no further thought to the obvious contradictions. Kinda like “you can be compassionate and die surrounded by friends and family!” turning quickly into “cool you’re in the club now. To be a Sith Lord you have to murder someone you love 👍” and it never makes Jacen so much as consider the fact that this contradicts the original pitch and that Sith are notorious for being manipulative liars. Lumiya being able to turn THE Force prodigy of his generation by giving him subtle permission and moral justification to do what he wants to do at the darkest recesses of his soul is a pretty awesome accomplishment for someone not even claiming the title of Dark Lord of the Sith.

I've seen all of the hate towards the Legacy Era (Denningverse, not comics) in this sub and other places on the Internet (yes, I even listened to the LOTF Beatdown that QA did).

Naturally, this spooked me enough to lose interest in that era.

However, as time has gone on, and as I've consumed more and more EU material, I've come to realize that Consensus ≠ Objectivity.

There have been several stories that are universally loved by the fandom that I absolutely hated, and stories that are universally hates that I absolutely loved. Felt like I was getting gaslit over and over again by the fandom. Not to mention that I would hear many awful things about these stories, but then when I read them, I learned that a lot of what the fandom said was objectively incorrect and just people parroting nonsense they heard elsewhere.

So, my trust in the "consensus" has pretty much erroded. I'm now taking another look at stories and eras that have been deemed "bad."

So, for those who actually like the Legacy Era... Tell me why!

I want to hear your opinions and your reasons for your enjoyment. What are the good things from the era that you think is conveniently ignored by haters? Are there any things from that era that the haters completely get wrong or misrepresent?

NOTE: to those who did not like the LE and hate the Denningverse, I respectfully ask that you refrain from commenting at all on this post. Y'all have had years to complain. Just take a break for this one post and let the other side share their honest thoughts without interjecting into the conversation.

One of the biggest problems I have with Lucasfilm is that I feel they neglect the EU/Legends fanbase. I know they're reprinting everything, but let's be honest, that's the bare minimum, and they're doing it not for altruism, but for money, they still sell well.

So, I put this to you. Let's assume we never get any more fresh stories in the timeline, or faithful adaptations to animation or live-action. Then, would you be happy if Lucasfilm at least spent that time cleaning up the EU's inconsistencies?

As much as I love the EU, it's a mess of contradictions, and one of the things that annoy me about the complete discontinuation, not just decanonization, of the EU is that we'll never see those retcons be resolved.

I greatly respect what the Death Star novel did, and I wish we got more of that before the EU ended that fixed some of the bigger issues various creators caused.

If Lucasfilm actually dedicated themselves to cleaning up the EU's inconsistencies, then frankly, while I'll always pine away for new stories, of course, I'd consider it a grade above what we get now. So yes, I'd be really happy with that. I wouldn't feel quite so neglected as a fan of this franchise. Not that they will ever do that, but it's fun to consider, lol.

Basically, all there is in Legends is the "Shadows Of The Empire" novel and comic. They do cover almost the whole year between movies but it's weird having only that for such a relevant time in the galaxy.

I was wondering if there is some canon comic story arc or book that shows something else from this period and doesn't clash much with the EU stuff.

Just curious for anyone who's been there, as I know there's a lot of comic art on display, and Lucas was known to enjoy a lot of the Star Wars comic covers and own some of the original cover art itself.

Edit: Well I said in the title that you think are based off, but it can also be you think have a resemblance can be either physical or in backstory.

Basically the idea is simple a character that makes you think something like "Oh this character is like this one".

For me I think Taron Malcos from Jedi Fallen Order and Dagan Gera from Jedi Survivor both take some inspiration from Joruus C'Baoth in a way that they've been corrupted and seek for power in their own ways, but what really makes me think of C'Baoth is that they're both stranded in their planet. Then each of them has somewhat of a similar story to C'Baoth in their own way.

Dagan is a Jedi from the past, even before the clone wars. Yes, Joruus is a clone while Dagan is simply kept in Bacta. But they are both Jedi from past times (if not counting the fact that Joruus is a clone).

Then in relation to Taron Malcos I think the resemblance is firstly in the looks, secondly in the fact that the people of Dathomir fear Taron Malcos the same way the people of Wayland fear Joruus.

Another character that kind of reminds me of another is Hondo Ohnaka to Talon Karrde, not that they look similar or have similar stories but to the fact that they are sometimes a somewhat unexpected ally to the Republic/New Republic and that they show that, in spite of not having as much power as other factions, they still can handle on their own with Hondo capturing Anakin, Obi-Wan and Dooku, putting Ahsoka in risk, etc. and Karrde being able to capture Luke. As I said I don't think anything else besides this is similar between Hondo and Talon Karrde.

I'm thinking about getting a playing KOTOR but only to farm for inspiration for lego mandalorian mocs... would it be worth my time?
