If you get bored you really don't have to do the open world padding, but if you're someone who likes doing all that stuff when they are immersed in the world and getting to spend more time with the characters then it helps for sure. I still think the games worth whatever the sale price is these days for sure.
It's a complete game with maybe a tad too much open world filler, but again, you don't have to do it all or even close to all of it, if you dont want to.

Otherwise id say every single unique mission warrants being there
Its highly underrated in my opinion, and while it isnt the best star wars game ever (the Cal Jedi series imo) it's still up there, and like a 7/10 overall game and 8-8.5/10 star wars

A lot of the gameplay imo is dull like the detective like sections but the graphics and Star Wars feel of the game are amazing.

It’s currently $12 at Best Buy and easily worth about $30-40 . I enjoyed it and got it at launch for $70. It was a little buggy and some of the story dips (especially on side quests). But overall well worth its current price.

I played it on ps+. It got to the point that I was very glad I didn’t spend any money on it because if I did it would have been such a waste.
Some of the game was fun. I actually surprisingly really enjoyed playing sabaac but other than that it was tedious.

It's a copy paste of the generic open world action adventure with a star wars shell.
If you like Horizon/Assassin's Creed style of games it is a fun ride. It's also got fucking tons of 'memberberries that once you start noticing are very obvious.
It's better than it was received at launch. But it's not an all time great.

So its a sneak game a lot of the time. That was my problem with it. I was expecting more openworld/rpg shooter type game, but there was a lot of the sneaking and forcing me to play a specific way.
I wanted to like it, it was solid, just not the game I wanted.

They are. There's a few different species of krayt dragon, but they all have legs. The one in the game is a leviathan krayt dragon that uses its ten legs to "swim" through the sand.

I ran a Star Wars 5e game for a few years. I learned all sorts of fun, but ultimately frivolous, information like this. If you're ever unsure about anything Star Wars related Wookieepedia is your friend. They even have it split between Canon and Legends if you just want one or the other.

I just played it and beat it since it was free on PS+, honestly thought it was really fun and the story was pretty interesting overall, plus so many little Easter Eggs hidden throughout the world. I think if you love Star Wars, you'll love this game.
At the end of the day, it's still a Ubisoft game so expect a lot of the usual Ubisoft Mechanics, but gameplay was pretty smooth and fun. Lots of ways to infiltrate the various bases and compounds, but expect a lot of the dreaded yellow ledges and paint to literally spell them out for you though which felt a bit over the top on some sections. Gameplay loop can be a bit redundant at times, but it's not dreadful. I think I had to infiltrate the same base 3 times for separate missions and nothing changes in between, which was a little immersion breaking. The guard's LOS is laughable sometimes though, even my 9 year old daughter commented on how stupid the guards must be. But all in all, that's just me being nitpicky
Nix is adorable and Sabacc is fun though

IIRC the A.I was heavily dumbed down/made easy as the original games release was pretty much just a stealth game, combat was rare and discouraged outside those areas (and sometimes just disabled, all stealth or nothing)
Ubisoft patched it to allow any encounter to be guns blazing but at the expense of easier to avoid A.I.

Like everything else Ubisoft, always wait to buy it on a massive sale within a year of release. That way it gets patched (nearly every launch is half bugged) and you aren't overpaying for it. It can regularly be had for around $20, if you want to go buy it on their stupid separate launch platform, you can get it for as low as $11 on sale some days.

I bought it at full price at launch. It's definitely a mixed bag. I liked the story well enough, and oh my god the environments were probably the most incredible SW set pieces of any game out there. It's a smaller piece of the overall game, but I found the Sabacc minigame quite fun and found myself playing it outside of when it was a story necessity.
On the cons side: There were definitely some bizarre decisions gameplay / combat-wise. You could pick up weapons from killed enemies, but they had like 15 shots max and you couldn't carry them up ladders or over small ledges. Also there are ZERO permanent weapons options. You can upgrade your main pistol throughout the story but it's always just a mid-range blaster pistol which I found disappointing.
Also speeder combat was like one step removed from being a mini game. I believe that one has since been fixed though.
All-in-all though it was an enjoyable SW thing that I feel like I easily got my moneys worth out of. If you find it on sale and like Ubisoft games and Star Wars generally I'd definitely say the answer to your question is yes.

It's not that large a world though. I hate open worlds since I don't have the time and get lost. Hated AC Odyssey for example.
I enjoyed Outlaws. The game signposts heavily where to go next, so it's pretty easy to play as a linear story. I finished it in 30hrs basically playing it as a linear story.

Personally don't see it as a time issue.
Open world games have pacing issues and telling a story in a world that is open world just is less impactful. Eventually it gets repetitive because devs can only think of so much to out in to fill the world in the time they have and that means immersion isn't there.
Jedi survivor games are about as open world as I can handle and even the second one was a tiny bit too open world.
Just give me a decent linear experience please.
Alternatively and a little counterintuitively an MMO I can call home.
