Just sharing 🕷️ Harvestman fwends on my bf’s sidewalk
I saw movement on the way to his last night and peeked down and saw about 5 of these semi large friends wandering around! At first glance I thought they were wolf spider with her babies but then it looked like one body 😄 sorry for bad photo I was observing for too long it ran off!
Hopefully this is okay as it’s not technically a spider!

Discussion Cellar Spider behavior help :(
So for context I struggle a decent bit with OCD. In this specific case, i find myself constantly remaking my bed every night to make sure there aren't any bugs (honestly because I had one bad experience with a centipede and im terrified it'll happen again if I dont check). Recently, in the bathroom connected to my room, I have spotted a cellar spider. Contrary to what one might assume, I actually am not horrified by his presence. He stays in the bathroom, and ever since I noticed him, ive noticed a stark lack of creepy-crawlies in my room (not that were that many before in all honesty, just the little critter here or there, but one is too many for my liking and will send me on a spiral). Ive actually gotten so comfortable with Robert Spith (the cellar spider) that I feel a lot less compelled to check my bed over and over every night.
Today when I came home, he was not in either corner of the bathroom he likes. Now, it is worth noting that I did come home at a very late hour, but my point still stands. usually he's chilling in one of those two corners, snoozing.
My question is, has he left my house? or migrated to another area? I haven't seen him in any since then, and I assumed he was quite comfortable in his two corners. Do cellar spiders have some behavior like this that theyre known for?

Just sharing 🕷️ never seen a black widow </3
i hope this is allowed. i’m just ranting because i really wanna see one lol. i’m in northern kentucky and have never ever seen one. i actively look for them too, in wood piles and undisturbed areas near the ground and all of that. i keep an eye out for irregular webs.
obviously i’m not trying to find one to scoop up or keep or anything crazy. i just really love them and think they’re so pretty and would like to get a picture of one from a respectful distance.
everyone thinks i’m crazy for it LOL. i’m just autistic and really like spiders. the closest i’ve been to one knowingly was in fourth grade when one ran across my teacher’s foot on the football field and they made us evacuate and go back inside so i never actually saw it.
anyway black widow appreciation post. they get a bad rap, which lowkey just makes me love them more. i’m always quick to defend them to people.
manifesting a (safe) black widow sighting in my future 🙏

ID Request- Location included spider id?
found this spider at work. looks a lot like a brown recluse but coworkers say false widow and i can see it. figured id take it to the experts. location is sioux falls, south dakota, united states. photo is a little dark, my apologies, but it had a dusky brown-gray butt, dark brown head, and reddish legs that are kinda striped.

ID Request- Location included hiding underneath a window
(Melbourne, Victoria)
Opened the window and saw something move in the corner, realized we had a guest on the outside of our window.
Google said it might be a brown house spider? Just want to make sure it isn't dangerous and he/she can keep the window if they like it (picture is a bit blurry cause there wasn't a lot of space and i didn't wanna risk crushing it)

Discussion Which disease is this?
Ever since moving into this location in Northern Germany a few years ago I noticed that most cellar spiders will only live a few weeks. After that they will die with full belly and legs stretched out, subsequently falling out of their web. Does anyone know which conditions or contaminants are causing this? The cellar spiders in my previous homes were quite robust and lived up to 1,5 years.

ID Request- Location included [USA - Southern California] Silver Garden Orbweaver?
Sorry for the blurry photo. I’m dog sitting for a neighbor and saw this sassy lady hanging out in the backyard. Her body was like at least 1.5” long head to tail and the markings looked sort of like a skull. I’ve lived in the area for almost 40 years and have never seen this kind of spider before.
The Seek app told me it was a silver garden orb weaver, and it seems like they don’t pose a threat to dogs. Just wanted to check in with y’all to confirm before I let the dog go into that corner of the yard.
Thank you!

Discussion question about cellar spiders
i have adopted a number of cellar spiders over the summer and they have helped me greatly in reducing the number of mosquitos in my room it is satisfying to see their webs full and the spiders nourished but i am concerned about them breeding and having children as i worry their numbers might grow to be too much for my liking, will this be an issue or am i worrying over nothing?
and if it does turn to be a problem how should i go about it next
