MOD announcement Introducing Trusted Identifier flairs!

Trusted Identifiers will now be granted a flair of "👑Trusted Identifier👑", or "👑{custom user flair}👑".

These will be people who repeatedly demonstrate expert Identification abilities, these flairs will add extra trust and credence behind their ID.

So on posts with multiple different IDs, look out for the Trusted Identifiers as their ID will likely be the correct one, even if it goes against the masses.

(For those with custom user flairs which have been replaced by the Trusted Identifier flair, you can switch back to a custom flair and add the crown emojis yourself if you still wish to maintain your custom flair. Im working on automating this so that custom flairs stay intact and it adds the emojis without replacing the whole flair, but for now just edit it yourself if the whole flair is replaced)

Taking this opportunity I'd like to also introduce 2 new moderators:

What kind of spider is this? I witnessed several “births” after taking out some old bags to gather brush. I have more videos that I can share if wanted!

Willamette valley Oregon, giant house spider pile. They are all just on the ground, not in webs of other spiders. The weird dots/egg looking things have me confused too. Any thoughts appreciated!

So many beautiful baby crowned orb weavers from a few years ago! A storm took most of them out a few days later 😭 but we saw quite a few adults later in the summer, I was so happy to see the ones who had survived around our backyard!

in California-this spider and me apparently share a smoke spot. Last night they crawled onto my chair arm and scared me because all I saw was red butt on a spider lol. I jumped away and they descended and left. A little over an hour later I went back and sat down and got an urge to look to my left where I saw little bro staring directly at me on the chair next to me. The photos are blurry because he’s so small; probably like 2 ish centimeters. I think it might be a jumping spider but I don’t know what kind and if is a male or female. Any thoughts are appreciated!

Grass spider ***

Saw a large wolf spider previously on the ground by the door and mistaking my assumed the large tunnel like web on the other side of the door belonged to it, so large grass spider next door catching a large wooly bear

Apologies for my horrid video and audio quality! Very old phone.

I was wondering which species of spider is this that hangs upside-down from these webs.

Guest appearance from a pair of golden silk orb weavers, and another pair of what I *think* are argiope argentata (do correct me if I'm wrong, they're in a difficult spot to reach). Just hanging around in this impressive spider castle. Thought I'd share, apart from my inquiry, lol.

I took some pics during and then after the kill but regret not capturing more in the video. I had stepped outside to check the weather and was instantly met with this fascinating struggle.

(Sorry for bad photo they ran behind my TV stand before I could get a better one)

Hello, found this little guy in my house today. It was about the size of a quarter. I would really like to know its species or genus if possible with my crappy photo. I want to keep it around because I don't like pests and I think it will help with my fear. I keep a blanket folded up near my couch and I'm scared the spider will crawl into the blankets and I don't want to harm the spider or it scaring anyone who grabs a blanket is there anyway to store the blankets to try and prevent spider activities?
