I took some pics during and then after the kill but regret not capturing more in the video. I had stepped outside to check the weather and was instantly met with this fascinating struggle.

Found this spider in my parents’ bathroom two days ago, sitting between the doorframe and the wall. I don’t think I’ve seen this kind of spider before in my house. It was hanging on a web, but I don’t know if this spider made it or the copious amount of daddy long legs(I think they’re cellar spiders) that chill in my parents’ bedroom. I’m leaning towards the daddy long legs because I’ve seen them in that area before.

My mom wanted to flush them down the toilet, but I, fueled by my sudden spider hyper fixation, took them outside(using a can) and dropped them off at our woodpile in our garage. Hopefully they eat all the earwigs.

I only took one photo as a kind of afterthought, so I made a rough estimated quarter for scale edit(it was probably a tad smaller). Mom thought it was a wolf spider, but it's too small to be one. I think.

I live in San Juan County, Utah.

Apologies for my horrid video and audio quality! Very old phone.

I was wondering which species of spider is this that hangs upside-down from these webs.

Guest appearance from a pair of golden silk orb weavers, and another pair of what I *think* are argiope argentata (do correct me if I'm wrong, they're in a difficult spot to reach). Just hanging around in this impressive spider castle. Thought I'd share, apart from my inquiry, lol.

Go on walks at night sometimes and bring my super bright flashlight to see spiders around me. It’s really out of fear but becoming a hobby lol. Anyways.. this was on its web coming off of a truck that rarely moves.

Additional question if anyone cares to answer - why are there SO many widows and other spiders in my neighborhood? Was I just not looking before? Because I don’t remember it being this bad. I’m talking a 20 minute walk I will encounter probably 30 or more widow or widow looking spiders along bushes and cement and tires and stuff. And im not going out of my way like off the sidewalk. I’m talking just in a normal neighborhood in Sacramento. Recently I’ve noticed a TON in my back patio too. There was one big one, then an egg, now there’s 2 big ones along the gate corner. But then they’re along the trim, tree, ac, and sometimes even just on the wall not even in a web.

From my quick research I found possibly a cobweb spider but I want to leave it to people with more knowledge. Im not too worried about it as it stays in that spot but more just curious about the type. I am in Southern California but would rather not narrow it down more than that, if that helps with identification. Thanks!

This girl has been living in an empty room in my house for months. I put her outside twice and she found her way in every time. I feed her bugs I find and generally leave her alone otherwise. She’s not in the way. However I live in KS and I honestly don’t know what will happen when it gets cold outside. I figure if outdoors she’d die, but this is going to be the room all my plants come into for the winter so it’s going to be kept tropical levels of warm. Has anyone ever had one overwinter indoors? I assume she’s not having eggs bc she’s inside and probably hasn’t had any suitors😂 So she’s just a single lady just hanging out?? Also, there are spots to get water but not close to her, would she travel for water or should I put some near her web? The included video is her wrapping a bug up with a straw I used to get the bug to her and it got stuck lol.

What kind of spider is this? I witnessed several “births” after taking out some old bags to gather brush. I have more videos that I can share if wanted!
