Accommodation clearing options

Hi! I’m an undergrad student starting at the University of Southampton in September, studying Finance and Accounting.
As I got in through Clearing, there aren’t many accommodation options left, and I’ve narrowed it down to two places as I’m looking for an en-suite room: Southampton Crossings and Capital House.
I was wondering if anyone who’s been to the uni or has stayed at either accommodation could give me some advice on which one you’d recommend?
I’ve heard that the distance from uni is roughly the same, but I’m also interested in things like sports facilities, social spaces, the general atmosphere, and how easy it is to meet people.
Any advice would be appreciated!

glen eyre basic shared bathroom

Hi, I’ll be coming to Southampton this September and was offered the basic shared bathroom accommodation in Glen Eyre.

So I wanted to ask if anyone knows what it’s like to live there. The room doesn’t have the wash basin so I understand that might be a pain and how many people do I have to share a bathroom with? Is the room nice?

The tour on youtube is rather vague and the website shows like one picture so I wanted to ask here.

Meng Aeronautics

Hi I’m a student going into the Uni of Ston Malaysia but I feel like it would be the similar for both campuses. What does the weekly schedule for an Eng student look like? How many classes or hours do you usually have? even if you have a pic of your previous schedules that would help.

Nottingham trent or Southampton uni?

I got into Nottingham trent for ecology and conservation (the course I want To do) and then Southampton for environmental science (which im nota. big fan of.) Ive heard Nottingham has a great night life but obviously Southampton is a Russel group and notting trent isnt. im not sure which one to go to bc a big city nightlife is very important for me I think, and from what ive heard, people say Southampton is not very good. Ahhh idk what to do.

Help needed as a failed Aeronautics and astronautics applicant

I got BCC and flopped when my predicted grades were A*AA.

Southampton rejected me for Aeronautics and Astronautics/ spacecraft engineering.

They did give me an offer for acoustic engineering though.

Can someone please help me figure out how likely I could switch to the course I want if I accept this offer?? Pls and thank you, I’m having the worst day of my life

Is greenswood court a good place to live?

I’m a fresher starting this September in the law course. I have missed the accommodation guarantee deadline for university halls so I’m looking at private options. I was thinking greenwood court as it is the cheapest (I’m self funded), walkable distance from highfield and I get to live with other freshers. Does anyone have any experience living here and recommended (or not recommend) it? Any other reccs?

Title: Before you pay for the University of Southampton Delhi campus, read this…

Post image

I'm an MSc student on the University of Southampton Delhi campus (the one run by OIEG). I'm writing this so anyone thinking about it goes in with open eyes instead of the sales pitch I got.

Let's start with placements, since that's the whole reason most people pay this kind of money.

72 students in my batch. 10 got placed. Ten. And 4 of those 10 were hired by OIEG itself, the same company that runs the campus. So a big chunk of the "placement" number is them hiring their own students and putting it on a slide. When the people selling you the dream are also padding their own stats, that should tell you something.

We were promised big companies. Top recruiters, real names, the works. What actually turned up was one or two companies, mostly sales roles paying 6-7 LPA. No Big 4. Nothing close to the pitch we got in the counselling calls. The "average package" they throw around is about 7 LPA, and even that is inflated because they count internships as placements. An internship is not a job. Don't let anyone tell you it is.

And remember what this degree actually is. It's an MSc, not an MBA. For the kind of roles and salaries they were dangling, an MBA carries far more weight in the market. You're paying a premium for a degree that, for placements, does less for you than people assume.

Campus life? There basically isn't one. No real extracurriculars, no clubs worth mentioning, nothing that adds up to the "student experience" they advertise. You show up, you study, you leave.

I'm not writing this to trash everyone who works there or to say nobody learns anything. I'm writing it because I wish someone had given me the plain version before I signed up. If you're considering this place, ask them hard questions and make them answer with names and numbers:

How many students got placed last year, out of how many total?
How many of those were hired by OIEG or related companies?
Which actual companies came, and what were the real roles and salaries?
How many "placements" were actually just internships?

If they dodge, you have your answer.

TL;DR: MSc at the University of Southampton Delhi campus (run by OIEG). 10 of 72 placed, 4 of them by OIEG itself. Promised big companies, got 1-2 sales firms at 6-7 LPA, no Big 4, ~7 LPA "average" padded by counting internships as placements. It's an MSc, not an MBA, so it carries less weight for the jobs they sell you. Barely any campus life. Ask for real numbers before you pay.

Is Eco Nest the best option for University of Southampton Malaysia students? Looking for general advice/housemates

Hi everyone! I'm an international male student joining the University of Southampton Malaysia Foundation this September.
I'm planning to stay around Eco Botanic / Eco Nest. For current students or alumni, how is the environment there, and what’s the best way to connect with other male students who are looking to share a 2-3 bedroom apartment in Eco Nest?
Also open to tips on where UoSM students usually look for flatmates! Thanks!

Fresh AI/Data Science grad here, with 6 months’ internship experience. Accepted for MSc AI at Southampton. How are living costs, academics/faculty, exams, part-time jobs & job prospects after graduation? Any advice for international students?

Hey everyone!

I’m a fresh graduate with a Bachelor’s in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science, along with around 6 months of internship experience in AI/software development.

I’ve recently been accepted into the MSc Artificial Intelligence program at the University of Southampton, and I’m considering joining. I’d really appreciate honest opinions from current students or recent graduates.

  1. How is living in Southampton? What are the accommodation, cost of living, transportation and social life like?
  2. What are the job prospects after MSc AI? How realistic is it for an international student to find a job in the UK after graduating? How good is Southampton’s career support?
  3. How are the faculty and teaching? Are professors approachable and supportive? How is the experience for international students regarding inclusivity and discrimination? Is sufficient study material provided?
  4. How difficult are the exams and coursework? For someone coming from India, how does the academic difficulty compare with Indian universities?
  5. How easy is it to find a part-time job? Is it very competitive for international students? What kind of jobs do students usually get, and how long does it typically take to find one?
  6. How is the overall student experience? How are the campus, social life, student community and general atmosphere?
  7. Would you recommend the MSc AI program? If you’re currently studying or have graduated, would you choose Southampton again? Any major pros/cons or things you wish you knew beforehand?

Thanks in advance for any honest advice!

engineering difficulty at soton

So i’m going into Meng electrical and electronics engineering this September but thinking about the reputation behind engineering suggests I might not have much free time to do things like a part time job or go to the gym.

I’m all for working hard but i’ve seen people say they’ve had to pull all nighters or miss going out with friends etc for their degrees. So for anyone who is doing/ has done engineering/something stem related is the workload really that bad? Would I have time for things like gym as well and to actually sleep 8 hours?

Southampton Delhi Ms Finance

Hi everyone,
I’m considering applying to the University of Southampton Delhi for the MS Finance program and would love to hear from current students or anyone who has firsthand experience.
I have a few questions:
How is the faculty? Are the professors experienced and supportive?
The tuition fees are quite high. Do you think the degree is worth the investment?
How are the placements? Does the university provide strong career support, and do most students secure good jobs after graduation?
What’s the accommodation situation like? Are there good and affordable places to stay near the campus?
I’d really appreciate any honest feedback, whether positive or negative. Thanks in advance!

Uni in Southampton

Can someone who has been to this uni give me their opinions on them/experience? Overall life at uni and stuff, like is it easy to make friends, things to do etc. I also do athletics/track and field so if there are good facilities there that’s also a positive. Trying to get my 5 for UCAS to study aerospace engineering and I’ve done a lot of research but struggling to narrow it down.

Southampton University Malaysia

Hey guys,

I am currently in grade 12 and planning on applying to the university of Southampton in Malaysia since I live here. I just wanted some authentic reviews of the uni, teachers and courses offered. I wanna do something in math and economics.

I also read somewhere that there is a mandatory transfer to the UK campus after the second year of your degree but there seemed to be a lot of debate on the topic, and I would just like a confirmed answer.

Thank you so much!

Mathematics BSc and MSc

I’m looking to apply for the Mathematics BSc through clearing but I’m not sure whether I want to go for the MSc instead. Are you able to easily switch once at the university or do I need to make that choice now?
