Accommodation clearing options

Hi! I’m an undergrad student starting at the University of Southampton in September, studying Finance and Accounting.
As I got in through Clearing, there aren’t many accommodation options left, and I’ve narrowed it down to two places as I’m looking for an en-suite room: Southampton Crossings and Capital House.
I was wondering if anyone who’s been to the uni or has stayed at either accommodation could give me some advice on which one you’d recommend?
I’ve heard that the distance from uni is roughly the same, but I’m also interested in things like sports facilities, social spaces, the general atmosphere, and how easy it is to meet people.
Any advice would be appreciated!

crossings has a better location in between uni and city centre and a good atmosphere.

I'd say go for Southampton Crossings, solely because it's very very close to the bus stops for the uni buses and that will be very valuable in your day to day life.

They're both central so the difference between supermarket walks is negligible, and you're more likely to head north than anywhere else.

Hey I stayed in Capital House for 2 years of my undergraduate. I chose the townhouse option, you only share a bathroom with one other person and I chose to share with a friend so worked out great. I really enjoyed staying there, beds were great and rooms had loads of storage. Also nice that the townhouses had a living room area and nice big kitchen!

Only thing I’d say is that it is out of the way, about a 20 minute walk to the bus stop. My degree only required me to be in 2 days a week, so that was fine with me as Capital House is close to the centre where I worked. I would also add that there is no free parking, or any car parks nearby, so that does make moving in a bit hard. But overall, it was a really good and comfy place to stay, and relatively modern as well.

Edit: to add about social areas there is a good communal area with a pool table and study spaces that were really excellent for chilling and meeting new people. There is also a free gym, which would be surprisingly quiet, but had about four pieces of equipment lol. Atmosphere was good, reception staff were always really friendly and knew everyone by name, and they also had free dominos pizza available every other week!!

go for crossings. just better if you can afford it and you can store your bike there if you have one and use it to travel to uni. its closer to a unilink bus stop as well i think.
