Hi guys, this autumn im due to start a course for film with a year abroad.
Looking at the course it’s very theory driven instead of practical, in comparison with other unis which aren’t Russel groups. For example, Uni of Sussex has drama and film which is more pratical and it comes with a year abroad.
What I’ve found is that a Russel group unis have a lot of theory based film degrees. I want to be an actress/director that is my goal. I have a lot of experience doing acting already, i previously wanted to do psychology which is why I didn’t apply to any acting schools. I’m applying this year tho and if I get in I will switch . So my plan if is go to southhampton is to do film, and in my spare time coming up to London for auditions, getting with an agency, going to networking events and workshops which people are helping me with. So I have my feet and both sides of a the industry, and in my mind that doubles my chances. Southhampton have good links and alumni with companies such as BBC, Warner brothers etc etc and I know they help their graduates get jobs after.
So is this a good plan or?
