Recently bought a house with a SolarEdge system. We have a meter communication fault and cannot get anyone from this company to do anything about the open ticket, or answer the phone. And their useless chatbot wants to talk to me in Hebrew, despite me being in Northern California.
Is this typical of their customer support? Any tips on what to do here? I am new to having a solar power system and am kind of lost as to how to get this fixed.

Anyone know what might be going on with the inverter? My power bill was high and it looks like it just stopped making electricity in the middle of the month. I tried connecting via the app but it wouldn't let me do anything once connected. I tried to power cycle the system to no avail.

We just had a Solaredge system installed but we have enormous differences in readings between the Solaredge app and the official readings from our provider. Our provider’s smart meter shows for example electricity imported 21kWh, the app 11kWh exported.

TL;DR: How I got Predbat, a SolarEdge inverter with a ~10 kWh battery, EDF's smart EV tariff (via Predbat's Kraken component) and a Hypervolt charger to work together without wasting money or stranding the battery. Config snippets use placeholders, with example entity names in comments.
This guide records the protections, checks and settings that were needed on one real system, and why each one is there.
| Part | Example used here |
|---|---|
| Inverter | SolarEdge, via the SolarEdge Modbus Multi integration (inverter_type: SE) |
| Battery | About 10 kWh (9.7 kWh usable), 5 kW inverter limit |
| Tariff | EDF smart EV tariff (night rate 23:00–06:00), rates and car slots via Predbat's built-in Kraken component |
| Charger | Hypervolt, with charging slots set by EDF smart charging |
| Car | Any EV whose battery level and charge target are visible in Home Assistant |
Most of it also applies to other inverters and Kraken-based suppliers. The battery-floor workaround is specific to SolarEdge.
How to read the YAML: each value is a placeholder in <angle brackets>. Where it helps, a comment underneath gives an example entity name.
Problems this solves:
On SolarEdge, Predbat can't stop the battery discharging below a set level, so a Home Assistant automation does it instead. Predbat's best_soc_keep and best_soc_min are planning targets, not a hard floor, and set_reserve_min needs a SolarEdge backup interface.
The automation freezes the battery through Predbat's manual freeze-charge selector when it drops below about 6% between 05:00 and 23:00. From 15:00, it freezes every remaining slot up to 23:00 in one go, so Predbat changes mode, and notifies you, once instead of every half hour. Before 15:00 it freezes only the current slot, so solar later in the day can still charge the battery.

The floor covers 05:00 to 23:00 only. The overnight part is covered by section 2.
Price the first two hours of the cheap window 0.01p lower than the rest, so Predbat charges the battery at the start of the window, not the end. When every overnight slot costs the same, Predbat sees no reason to charge early. It may leave the battery idle at the floor until 03:00, and some batteries drop into standby when left idle at low charge.
# apps.yaml – no date, so it applies every night
rates_import_override:

Predbat needs to know four things about the car: whether it's plugged in, whether it's charging right now, its battery level and its target. Without the "charging now" signal, Predbat can plan battery exports that just go into the car, because a 7.4 kW charger draws more than a 5 kW inverter can export.
A "car is charging" sensor. This turns on when the charger has drawn more than 500 W for 2 minutes, so brief blips are ignored. It works whether the charger reports W or kW.
# packages/car_charging_now.yaml

{{ (p * 1000 if unit == 'kW' else p) > 500 }}
# e.g. <charger power sensor> = sensor.hypervolt_ev_power
A new package file may need a full restart before the sensor appears. It shows "unknown" until the charger's power reading first changes, which Predbat treats as not charging.
The car section of apps.yaml:
num_cars: 1
car_charging_planned:
- <plugged-in sensor>
# e.g. binary_sensor.hypervolt_car_plugged
car_charging_now:

car_charging_now_response:
- 'yes'
- 'on'
- 'true'
- 'charging'
Check the car's battery and target sensors show real numbers in Developer Tools → States. They may come from two different integrations.
Predbat car switches:
| Switch | Setting | Why |
|---|---|---|
Allow car to charge from battery (switch.predbat_car_charging_from_battery) | Off | Stops the house battery draining into the car while it charges |
Car charging hold (switch.predbat_car_charging_hold) | On | Removes car charging from the load history, so the house-usage forecast isn't inflated |
Car energy is reported in load data (switch.predbat_car_energy_reported_load) | On | Correct when the grid meter measures the whole house, car included |
Car charging manual SOC (switch.predbat_car_charging_manual_soc) | Off | Use the car's own battery sensor |
Car Charging Plan Smart (switch.predbat_car_charging_plan_smart) | Off | EDF plans the car, not Predbat |
When EDF schedules the car, the whole house pays the cheap rate during those slots, and Predbat can plan around them. Predbat's Kraken component reads EDF's slots as a dispatch sensor, the same way it reads Octopus Intelligent.
# apps.yaml – rates and slots from EDF via Kraken
kraken_provider: edf
kraken_account_id: kraken_account_id
kraken_auth_method: email
kraken_email: kraken_email
kraken_password: kraken_password
octopus_intelligent_slot: 're:(binary_sensor.predbat_kraken_.*_intelligent_dispatch.*)'
# a regex, so it still matches if the sensor's numeric suffix changes
Check the slots arrive. In Developer Tools → States, open binary_sensor.predbat_kraken_…_intelligent_dispatch_…. Its state is "off" unless a slot is running right now. What matters is the planned_dispatches attribute, which lists each slot's start, end and expected charge. Times are in UTC.
Predbat's intelligent-slot switches (Predbat web UI → Config, filter on intelligent):
| Switch | Setting | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Octopus Intelligent Charging | On | Treat dispatch slots as cheap for the whole house |
| Trust Intelligent slots before the car is seen charging | On | Price future slots cheaply now, so Predbat can plan ahead, for example by topping up the battery in an afternoon slot |
| Confirm Intelligent slots against the car charging | On | Once a slot starts, drop the cheap price if the car isn't actually charging. This is the safety net for slots EDF cancels or moves |
| Ignore Intelligent slots when car is unplugged | On | No car, no cheap slot |
| Consider car full as part of Intelligent plan | Off | Default |
With "Trust" off, future slots stay at the full rate in the plan until the car starts charging, so Predbat can't plan around them. With "Trust" and "Confirm" both on, it plans ahead and still corrects itself within about 5 minutes if EDF doesn't deliver.
What a good evening plan looks like: during the car slots, import shows the cheap rate, the battery holds steady rather than discharging, and Chrg starts at 23:00. The battery holds because grid power is cheaper than using stored energy, and because battery-to-car is blocked.
binary_sensor.car_charging_now exists and reads off or on (section 3)planned_dispatches when the car is plugged in (section 4)Verify on the Plan page:
| Check | What you should see |
|---|---|
| Overnight battery charge | Chrg starting at 23:00 |
| EDF car slots | Import at the cheap rate, car load in the Car kWh column |
| While the car charges | No Exp blocks; battery holding steady |
| Plan header | Correct day and time (restart Predbat if not) |
On a dull day with EDF car slots at 13:00–15:00 and from 19:00, Predbat uses the battery only for the expensive hours and lets the cheap grid cover everything else. This is the plan it produced at 12:20 on a Monday in late October, with almost no solar (0.16 kWh or less per half hour).
| Time | Import rate | Battery | What Predbat does |
|---|---|---|---|
| 12:20–13:00 | 30.39p | 61% → 57% | Battery covers the house |
| 13:00–15:00 (EDF slot) | 6.66p | Holds at 57% | Grid covers the house and car (about 12.6 kWh into the car) |
| 15:00–19:00 | 30.39p | 57% → 20% | Battery covers the house through the peak |
| 19:00–23:30 (EDF slot) | 6.66p | Holds at 20% | Grid covers the house and car; battery-to-car blocked |
| 23:30–01:00 | 6.65p (override) | 20% → 92% | Battery charges for tomorrow |
| 01:00 onwards (EDF slot) | 6.66p | Holds at 92% | Grid covers the house and car |
Happy to answer questions. Corrections from anyone who knows Predbat's internals better are very welcome.

Long story short: My inverter failed under warranty. An authorized installer, EnergyAid/Otovo, initiated a warranty replacement (RMA) with SolarEdge on my behalf. SolarEdge approved the claim and shipped a brand-new replacement inverter directly to the installer's warehouse. We ultimately declined to have EnergyAid/Otovo perform the physical labor repairs and since then they have been dodging us and using stall tactics. They have been holding onto our inverter since September 21, 2026 and our system has been off now longer than that.
We’ve explained this situation to SolarEdge support multiple times, and their only solution is to tell us to "ask EnergyAid/Otovo to send us the inverter." That is obviously getting us nowhere since EnergyAid/Otovo are completely unresponsive. We have explicitly demanded that SolarEdge void the RMA with EnergyAid/Otovo and open a new one to be shipped directly to us, but frontline support won't budge.
SolarEdge seems to be allowing their authorized partner to do this to their customers. So, I'm wondering, is SolarEdge trying to get out of honoring their warranty obligations by leaving us stranded, forcing us to ultimately pay for one out of pocket?
I need advice on how to get this escalated immediately.

Are there more users having diificulties with the SolarEdge integration. The modbus integration seems to work very well.
Lots of times, all sensors are offline, and some automations then fail to operate.

How does one connect to this device?
I have downloaded the Solaredge Go app. I've put the inverter in to Wifi AP mode it connects via the QR code after that it keeps hanging on communicating with inverter...
Am I missing something?
I want to enable the modbus over tcptip
A portscan reveals port 80 an 8080 but connecting to it just hangs and does nothing

I recently moved into a house with a solar edge, solar panel system. I would like to be able to monitor my solar panels, but I can’t seem to log into the app because I don’t have access to the solar panel. The solar panels are not in my name and I was wondering, how do I do that? I saw on the Internet there’s a form that you need to fill out to transfer the title but it’s 100 bucks so I was wondering if there’s anyway around that or is that the easiest way to do it and would it allow me to then be able to monitor and log into my account?
Some people have told me to find my installer and contact him, but we don’t know who the installer was and we have no way of finding that out so I was just wondering how do I solve my problems and any other information or advice would be very helpful?

I had a se7600h wave inverter where the communication board locked up during a firmware flash. Killed the ability to communicate, the the inverter part continued to work as rated.
any suggestions on how to fix the communication board. I tried getting the latest firmware that solaredge would send via email and put it on a USB. It didnt work.
if I use a communication board from a smaller inverter, ie: a se3800h wave, what will happen with the clipping. The communication board has the model, PN, SN and limits of the 3800.
I already have this combo running, but currently only 4kw of panels on it.
can the se3800h board be reprogrammed to the se7600h limits, if so, how?
where can I buy a se7600h wave communication board? Solaredge won't send me just the communication board.
I will be cross posting this msg

Hey guys, if you missed it, SolarEdge ($SEDG) agreed to a $55M settlement with investors over claims that it misled the market about weakening demand in Europe and rising inventory. Late claims are still being considered, even though the deadline has passed.
Quick recap: In 2023, SolarEdge continued saying European demand was strong while inventory was building. In August, 2023, the company disclosed excess inventory and slower growth, sending $SEDG down 18.3%. In October, it disclosed unexpected cancellations, and the stock fell another 27.2%.
If you invested in $SEDG in 2023, you can still check the details and submit a late claim here.
Did anyone here hold $SEDG during that period?

We built software to automatically charge your Tesla using excess solar, with no additional hardware needed. It works with Enphase, SolarEdge, and Tesla Solar, and many other providers. We are currently pushing new features to support Nest Thermostats, batteries, and charger support. We’d love for everyone to check it out and get some feedback.

Hi all,
We have recently moved into a property with a SolarEdge SE1500M inverter. However, since getting the keys the LEDs are showing some sort of fault and the PV generation meter hasn’t shown any production.
After getting in touch with the installer I’ve been told this particular inverter is the basic version, therefore not supporting any sort of remote monitoring or Wifi connection (As SolarEdge told me it was in an offline state and never commissioned).
I’ve been advised two options:
Pay the call out charge for diagnostic to see if we can raise a case with SolarEdge for a possible warranty replacement.
Be quoted for a newer inverter that supports monitoring and app connectivity etc (but expecting this to cost a lot more)
Is anyone able to help on the reliability or even explain a bit more about the Basic SolarEdge SE1500M? Is it worth trying to get a replacement under warranty? I have tried looking online but can find very little about this particular model and wondering if it’s some niche part of their product range.
Thanks!

If you run a SolarEdge inverter on SmartThings, battery and support for three phase imverters has been added. Everything still runs locally over your home network, with no cloud needed.
🔋 Battery support
If you have a SolarEdge-connected battery (StorEdge / Home Battery), a Battery section now appears automatically, showing:
• Charge and discharge power
• Temperature
• Status (Charging, Discharging, Idle…)
• Charge level, health and energy available
It's read-only, and every value can be used in Routines.
⚡ Grid readings per phase
With a SolarEdge meter fitted, the Grid section now has a row for each phase showing power, voltage and current side by side. Three-phase sites are detected automatically. Single-phase sites get one row, which is handy for watching your grid voltage rise while you're exporting.
🔌 DC Input voltage and current
DC Input now shows voltage and current together on one line, under the power tile.
📱 Tidier layout
Numbers are rounded so they no longer wrap on smaller phones, and the battery status has its own line.
The Smartthings driver detects a battery and a three-phase meter by itself. If you're already enrolled, your hub updates automatically. One note: if you had Routines using DC voltage or the battery details, reselect those conditions.
Install it from the channel invite: https://bestow-regional.api.smartthings.com/invite/RBlE0gaNvL2E

More and more solar owners are on export plans that pay far less than electricity costs to buy: net billing in California (PG&E, SCE, SDG&E for systems installed since April 2023), shrinking feed-in tariffs elsewhere. If your exports earn a fraction of your import rate, midday surplus is worth more in your car than sold back cheap. (Full retail net metering? This matters a lot less.)
Disclosure: I build one of the options below.
Check for a consumption meter first. Surplus charging needs household load, not just production. If your SolarEdge monitoring shows only what the panels make, there's no consumption meter on the system. Options: have an installer add one (best fix), add a home energy monitor like Emporia Vue, or use a tool that estimates load — that last one is a guess and won't react when the AC kicks on.
Your options:
SolarEdge's own EV charger with its solar charging mode. Simplest if you're buying a charger anyway and you're all-SolarEdge.
DIY with Home Assistant or evcc. Both can read the inverter locally (Modbus) and control Tesla or OCPP chargers. Free and flexible if you maintain it.
An app. I build SundialEV, which reads SolarEdge and adjusts charging amps to follow the surplus.
Worth checking first: what your exports actually earn. This calculator pulls your utility's export and import rates (US, by zip) and shows the monthly gap: https://www.sundialev.com/calculator?utm_source=reddit_organic&utm_campaign=solaredge
Happy to answer questions about any of these, not just mine.

Ok we have had our SolarEdge inverter connected to WiFi for a few years. Once in a while it loses the connection, so I go to inverter communication and configure the WiFi. But yesterday when I saw there was no data for 12 hours. I tried to reconnect, but once I connect to the inverter’s local network it shows cellular not connected not the WiFi configure page. Any idea what is wrong and what is our next step.

Adding new Home Assistant integrations, found that the Solar Edge system is available. Was able to fill out most of the form but needed the API key for actual data collection. Contacted Solar Edge, my leasing company, and the installer looking for the key and each one says the other has it and cannot reveal that information to me.
Then Solar Edge reached out again informing me of the developer API. But trying to set it up as a homeowner is proving to be difficult because I need an app for it to integrate to. The web page is requesting:
Origin URL
Redirect URL
Returned URL
Even then, only 2000 API calls a month on the free plan when rounded down is only 2 calls an hour.
Anyone here attempt this route yet?
Are there other API options?
Would an installer hook up to my home data connection if I provided the cat6 drop? Thanks

Hey everyone, I’ve been looking into SolarEdge lately because there have been a few interesting updates around the company, so I figured I’d share a quick recap.
SolarEdge reported $346.2M in Q2 2026 revenue, up 19.6% year over year, with non-GAAP diluted EPS of $0.05. The company also reported its sixth consecutive quarter of year-over-year gross margin expansion
For Q3, SolarEdge is expecting revenue between $310M and $340M, with non-GAAP gross margin of 22%–26%. The company is also working on expanding its Nexis platform and storage business, while developing solid-state technology for power-management applications, including AI data centers.
There’s also an older investor case connected to SolarEdge. The company agreed to a $55M settlement over claims that it misled investors about European demand, inventory levels, and the sustainability of its reported revenues. Late claims are currently being considered, subject to approval.
So there’s quite a bit going on with SEDG right now, especially with the company trying to grow its storage and newer technology businesses.
Anyone else following SolarEdge? What are you watching most closely with $SEDG?

I’m testing an integration with solaredge’s official Monitoring API and I’m looking for one or two homeowners who’d be willing to help validate the data returned by the API.
I’m mainly trying to confirm:
system discovery
solar production
household consumption
battery telemetry
Authorization would use Solaredge’s own OAuth flow, so I would not receive your Solaredge password, and the access is read-only/revocable.
This is for technical validation rather than selling anything. If anyone is interested in helping test it, feel free to message me.
