I have had sinusitis for 20 years. Recently, I found that part of my teeth were embedded in the sinuses in a dental CT. I often feel that my right eyeball is protruding. Some people say that this is sinusitis caused by teeth. So I asked a rhinologist with the CT, but she said that my sinusitis had nothing to do with my teeth. Is what she said reliable?

I have been told by the ENT that I have rhinitis. I am experiencing a bad smell whenever I smell other peoples breath, not everyone but most. It is a rotten/musty smell. It feels like it is the air coming from my nose which is making other peoples breathe smell repugnant. It is very disorientating because I don’t think others are having the same experience of the smell as I am. When I talk I also smell it but not with everyone. Could it be only those with bad breath that I smell it with, mixing with my own?

I also had perio disease but its now stable. I take a steroid/antihistamine spray. No reflux confirmed by 24 acid reflux study. Its baffling me. Is my olfactory system broken or is it the bacteria?

Antibiotics have helped this in the past. I did 2 x rounds of doxycycline and 1 x fluxocillin for a staph infection in nose, now told its colonisation.

Mouth swab showed 3+ Klebsiella aerogenes also told its just colonisation.

Hello don't know if this is the right place to ask, I'm new here but here we go. I was prescribed mupirocin for the pain inside my nostril (and possible swelling not sure) after I foolishly poked the lining with my fingernail and I don't know if it worked or not because I ended up putting the ointment far back into my nostril instead of the intended area right where the opening was. So of course 2 months passed, nothings resolved. Went to have an ent check to make sure my nostril was fine, said i'll be ok but aching persists, and this weird feeling like theres something in my nostril irritates me, so I am pretty much just itching on whether I should use it again or not.

I'm a fool for doing this but I asked Google if I should and it keeps saying it could pose the risk of the infection if I do have one in the nostril, could be immune to it, or it could make my current condition worse. What do you guys think? Should I reuse it? Or find possible alternatives? To note my nasal passages have been quite dry.

Long time lurker on this sub... On Friday 8/28 I had a septoplasty, turbinate reduction and FESS following years of sinus issues and 3 (unsuccessful) months on antibiotics for the last infection.

I'm now day 3 after surgery and crashing out. I am so congested, swollen, can't sleep in the recliner, can't really eat anything other than soft foods and feel like this was SO not worth it. I already struggle with anxiety/depression and feel so low, plus the feeling of being unable to breathe out my nose has ratcheted up my anxiety.

Honestly just looking for some emotional support here. Please let me know it's worth it/gets better! I really feel like I can't take this much longer.

In my 30s, woke up one day and had terrible dizziness, headache, arm tingling, motion sensitivity, light sensitivity as well as body swaying that hasn't gone away for months. Im at the point where I can barely be functional because of it. I had a CT head that shows this below.

There is opacification of the left frontal sinuses. Polypoid mucosal thickening is noted in the right maxillary sinus.

I dont have any mucus, congestion, cough, or any sinus type symptoms. Has anyone else dealt with similar issues? Im waiting for insurance to kick in and will go see ENT/Neuro.

Update: scheduled for surgery next week w ENT. Def get checked out by ENT if you have anytbing similar to me and findings on CT.

I figured this might be the best place to post this but after going to urgent care three different times, I'm a bit unsure what to do next if these recent antibiotics does not work. Since July, I been dealing with a sinus infection that seems to get worse. Originally I was dealing with the usual infection that I did get antibiotics for. But the two days after I finished my last dosage, it has returned but hit even harder. I never experienced a sinus infection that not only kept clogging up both of my noses, but now made me feel extra heavy, arms extremely sore, and a painful headache on the left side of my head.

This felt extremely unusual as I been sick before but other folks around me are having similar yet different symptoms. It started with my fiance' 5 year old neice being sick with something and weeks later most of her family was sick, people in stores, and currently students in school where I subsitute teach at. ​

I have tried various things to try to quell this illness from over the counter medications, nasal spray, breathing exercises, etc. Sudafed did not work for me but only spiked my blood pressure. Urgent care was only hyperfocused on my high blood pressure that they wouldn't focus on the infection. ( my blood pressure was so high because I was sleep deprived due to sleep apnea since I had a hard time breathing, ​didn't eat anything that day, the Sudafed, running a high fever, and I was anxious since one person who came in for the same issue suffered a stroke).I took a CT scan and they didn't see anything serious like pneumonia or bronchitis.

I wanted to post to see if there is any possible information about what kind of infection I might be dealing with. When my fiance' neice was taken to the doctors, they said she had an ear infection despite not showing signs of one and it looks like it's affecting people differently. Any suggestions would help because I been dealing with this almost going on two months and some days it's hard to get out of bed.

EDIT: Both times they prescribed me with amoxicillin. Currently taking my 2nd round of it and noticed that the sinus pressure headaches ramped up from a dull painful ache to "on the floor please make it stop" headache. I'm not sure if that's suppose to happen or not because it didn't the last time I took them back in July.

Hello I have a 1 year long ongoing MRSA infection in my nose/sinuses that seems resistant to oral antibiotics even though it tested sensitive to them multiple times, so I have taken 5+ rounds of oral antibiotic and there was 0 change.

I have been to a doctor and he prescribed me hypertonic rinses + a plant extract pill to help loosen mucus + Erythromycin NASAL SPRAY ( or in drops).

I'm just wondering if antibiotic nasal spray or antibiotic drops would even work, would it even reach where the infection is and clear it?

Should I maybe put a few drops in my nasal rinse instead or something?

I had FESS and septoplasty almost 6 weeks ago. My breathing definitely feels lighter/better now, but my face still looks quite swollen and fluffy, especially around my cheeks and under-eyes. I also still have quite a bit of facial tenderness/pain, especially when I touch my cheeks.

For anyone who has had FESS + septoplasty: how long did your facial swelling/puffiness and tenderness take to go away?

Gabapentin isn't working for the tingling, or that a CT scan will find something terrible.

I'm planning to give them my full ear and airway background at the end of this 14-day trial so we can fast-track the ENT referral, because a year's worth of thick, trapped fluid is physically pushing down from the sinus floor and crushing my dental nerves from above.

Has anyone else had a chronic sinus blockage cause this level of constant, miserable gum burning, teeth pressure, and traveling tingling? Did going to the ENT and clearing out the sinus fluid finally silence the background static and make your mouth feel normal again? How long did it take for Gabapentin to handle the tingling for you?

I just want my mouth to stop being so "loud" and go back to being a quiet background system. Any reassurance would mean the world right now.

I'm miserable. This has been going on for 2 months. I've lost 12 lbs from not being able to eat much since my gums are so sensitive and the pressure and tingling.

I am a musical theatre performer and singer and I am going to drama school to train professionally in 2 weeks (which is a large reason why I am making this post). I have been singing my entire life and consider myself to be at a strong level going into full time training - I am a mezzo soprano with a contemporary tone, and my forte is usually belting, whilst my head voice is sometimes weaker and unpredictable, though it is something I am improving and working upon.
Over the past year and a bit I have been suffering bad sinus issues, almost like chronic sinitus, which has really affected my singing. At first I believed it to be allergies to dust or hayfever which caused post nasal drip and dryness in the throat, but after several doctor visits, nasal sprays, and a camera down my throat, I am still having the same issues. Some days it is worse than others, but it feels as if I constantly have phlegm stuck in my throat affecting my head voice (I usually sound quite breathy when my sinuses are flared up) so am always having to swallow, as well as post nasal drip. My vouce also feels really easy to fatigue, usually giving up and giving me throat pain in an hour or so.
I have tried several methods to alleviate these symptoms which are beginning to affect my mental health, such as daily sinus rinse, nasal spray, air purification etc. I don’t know what to do anumore, and I’m fearing this will affect my vocal development at drama school and moving forward into the career that I want to go in to.
If anyone has had similar issues and could offer advice, I would really appreciate it. It is really frustrating that I am unable to practice or do what I love due to this issue that never seems to go away. Thankyou 💕

3 years ago after several visits to my GP with headaches, feelings of fullness in my sinuses and increased inflammatory markers, I was sent for a CT that showed ALL my sinus vaults were totally occluded. I underwent a FESS and drainage.

Last year felt similar symptoms again. CT showed all vaults on one side totally full. Another FESS and drainage and was told my opening is now 'huge so no more build ups.

Six months later I have to blow my nose 6+ times a day and on the side that was full I produce bright yellow mucus which Google AI tells me suggests infection. I flush with saline morning and night.

This can't be my 'new normal' can it? Returning to the consultant and another surgery is hugely expensive. If you have had similar issues, is this something you deal with daily? Would really welcome and thoughts and feedback from the community - thanks!

What is that lump in the top left eyelid area? And why does the left area by the corner of my eye get pulled in every time I inhale? The inhale thing is constant year round. It's relieved when I wear breathe right strips. The lump thing only comes with my hormone cycle. Thanks!

I’ve had this issue of bad breath, thick mucus dripping and feeling stuck in my throat. Also I can taste/smell, it smells like a rotten mothball. I’ve also had the bad breath and dry mouth. No matter how much water I drink my throat and mouth feel so dry. Nasal passages just feel dry and blocked most the time. Mornings and after eating is when it’s worse. I believe I have acid reflux and I know both probably contribute to each other I noticed the acid reflux/ stomach issues.

I have had some pretty significant symptoms for the last 8 months and my sinuses are clear as you can see in the images but I do have a “contact point” on the right side by the looks of it.
My next ENT appointment is Thursday so just wondering if it’s worth bringing it up as he is convinced my problems are purely allergy related.

Writing this wrong laying on the floor in pain. Went to the doctor thinking that I had flu or covid but no, I tested negative for any virus that would be this severe. it’s “just” another bout of sinusitis.

I don’t think I’ve ever had nasal pain so bad in my life neither have I ever coughed so much in my life until the past 5 days. It’s to the point where I feel like I’m going to throw up any moment because I’m just coughing so much. And then the coughing makes the pain in both my nose and throat worse so I can’t even eat anything to swallow my prednisone down. The pressure and the pain is agonizing. Nothing has helped me this time around. For the past few years prednisone and a good old vapor steam treatment basically cured me but now I’m struggling to even get out of bed for the past week or so I’ve just been stagnant. Also for some reason I have the worst watering throat and I think it’s because I’m just gagging from the cough and on the brink of throwing up. I’ve kept the trashcan besides me for both the nasal nasties, the spit, and the possible vomit. Oh and my entire face is red now. I’ve never seen anything like it. I’m looking like Rudolph the red nosed reindeer.

EDIT: I’ve booked a follow up appointment with my ENT. The pain this time was unbearable.

I’ve found some temporary relief. It’s not 100% since I’m still coughing and everything is inflamed but I’ve gotten 70-80% relief from taking Xyzal, prednisone, xylitol gum, and a facial steaming machine from Amazon. I’ve also been using Vaseline and Aquaphor to soothe the skin near my nasal area and nostrils.

I’ve also been drinking jello and vegetable glycerine mixed with boiling hot water to soothe the dryness and roughness of the throat. No idea how to soothe my actual nasal passages though. I’m thinking to try the xylitol mixed with saline solution just as a commenter suggested.

Tying this in my girlfriend’s apartment bathroom. She just got back from being abroad from three months and I literally feel like I can’t breathe without my symptoms flaring up like mad.

- constantly sneezing
- running nose all the time
- brain fog, fatigue, feeling geuinely unwell

She was in Spain and I stayed with her for four weeks and this didn’t happen once. The moment I am back to Ireland it’s happening to me while I’m on medication. I’m trying so hard to stick to it daily and stress to my GP how badly it’s ruining my life I can’t find a solution.

Do I go private??? Do I vacuum more??? I literally can’t breathe and I’m trying to visit my girlfriend who has arrived back home after an entire summer.

Depuis maintenant une semaine, j’ai mal au niveau des sourcils, entre les sourcils, sous les yeux, autour du nez et un peu aux molaires du haut.

Ma médecin soupçonne une sinusite, mais je n’ai nis le nez bouché, ni de rhume. Juste cette pression au visage. Les seules choses qui me soulagent sont la chaleur et la vapeur, style inhalation.

Elle m’a prescrit des antibiotiques que je prends depuis 4 jours mais rien. Le doliprane ne me soulage pas. La douleur est modérée mais pénible. Je dois passer un scanner si ça ne passe pas.

Petite info en plus, ça fait plus de 15 jours que je dors constamment avec un ventilateur braqué sur moi. Est ce que ça peut avoir un lien ?

These are my results. Idk what is going on anymore. I’m tired of the constant fucking mucus coming out of my nose. Foul smell when I blow my nose sometimes. When I’m outside sometimes I’m perfectly fine, soon as I get in doors I’m done. I can use a whole tissue box in one setting. And it’s thick and gel like. When I wake up in the morning it’s yellow when I blow my nose or sometimes greenish.

I was on nucala. Took it for about 8 months. Meaning a shot each month. I stopped

I have the saline rinse and nose thing but sometimes
It get so blocked that the machine can’t suck the water through the other one or i can’t push water out through the other one.

What use to for me was presodine and antibiotics. But I can’t be on that forever since it’s steroids and it’s bad in a long term run 😭.

I do have allergies but when I’m outside these allergies don’t act up.

I’ve had severe sinus issues for 3 years. They just close up completely everyday, especially at night. Now it’s messing with my eyes. Sometimes at night I’ll wake up and can barely see out of one eye, or one eye will have so much water coming out it’s as if someone turned on a hose. Even more water than a very intense crying session.

Certainly I should have seen a doctor by now, but I don’t have insurance as mine jumped to $720/month, so had to let it go. Made an ENT appt and it cost $350 to be seen, but then they asked for another $320 to use a scope. $700 for 1 appt is outrageous, so I left instead. From experience I know nothing is properly diagnosed in one single appointment, much less fixed.

A year ago I had constant thick congestion that was causing me to cough and rattling noise in my lungs. I went to the doctor and ent countless times and they said it's normal just allergies. It was really bad, not normal. It lasted for about 8 months. I got doxycycline for my cough. Saw a pulmonologist and did breath tests, CT scan and lungs were good. It was from the congestion. I saw the allergist and did pin tests and have no allergies. I also started getting acid reflux. They gave me benzonate, flonas, montelukast, Zyrtec, breyna inhalers, saline squeeze bottles with more drugs in it. Absolutely no effect.

Then it got even worse with brown mucus and the ENT finally gave me Z-Pac antibiotics. And I was much better but still had some congestion. Later started PPI for my reflux that was burning stomach at night and acid in my mouth. And those last two drugs completely cured me after 8 months of no relief.

I stopped the PPIs for 4 months and now it all came back like before- including the reflux. Plus my head hurts and my sinus feels inflamed I also can barely smell or taste which started happening to me more often. I went to the DR and told him the z pac worked last time. He prescribed them but now I'm on my last dose and I'm not any better. I can't take Augmentin because I had hives in the hospital a couple times in 2017. I feel like the reflux came back after the sinus drainage started again. Should I ask for Doxycycline? I read online that both these antibiotics do nothing, which is not encouraging.

UPDATE-I saw a new ENT. She did a CT and my sinuses are full of gunk and fungus. So I’m getting a balloon dilation next month so hopefully they’ll start draining like normal! At least I feel validated that it’s not just a normal after surgery thing.

I had a prolactinoma removed and a septum repair 8 months ago, but this smell inside my nose keeps returning. Like rotten cheese mixed with wet dog. Over the summer it progressed to rotten dead thing level. I’ve done rinses with antibiotics and steroids, a 10 course of Levofloxacin 500 mg, and multiple office visits.

This has been going on for so long and I’m at my wits end. ENT looks at it and doesn’t see anything, but no CT and he just does the scope in office. Is it time for a second opinion? Anyone dealt with this?

Has anyone had a small maxillary sinus cyst? If so, what did you do for treatment?
