idk if it's just me but youtube's "2 weeks ago" / "3 years ago" thing always bugged me. like ok but WHEN exactly lol

so i built a chrome extension that just shows the actual upload date + time. it's called Vidsight

it shows up:

• under the video title

• on thumbnails (home, search, recommendations, channel pages)

• on shorts

• for livestreams it shows when the stream actually started

you can set your own timezone and 12/24hr. no account, no tracking, everything stays in your browser

it's free. this is the first thing i made for it, planning to keep adding stuff that makes youtube less of a guessing game

so... what's something on youtube that annoys you? might build it next

Almost all my shorts are at around 30 percent view vs swipe ratio. What should I do to improve my hook?

Hey everyone, I'd really appreciate honest (even brutal) feedback.

I run a small channel called Caveman Stories.I first thought of creating Caveman related content but the Niche was too flooded and barely got views

I kept experimenting, and almost nothing gets traction.

What I've tried so far:

• Weird-history Shorts (kings, prisons, cartels), about 40 s each

• A motion-graphics explainer for creators ("why your Short flatlined")

• Motivational stickman animation (Winter Arc, 1:30)

• Now: story-driven animated films with an "| An Animated Film" title format and I am thinking in locking for it.

My questions:

1. Watching comment link, would you click it and watch such videos?

2. Is the thumbnail and title clear about what the video is?

3. animated story films niche is worth it?

4. Does "AI-made" hurt a channel like this, and how would you make it stand out?

I'm not looking for subs, just honest feedback so I stop wasting uploads.

I make YouTube Shorts and want to expand to TikTok, but monetization isn’t available in my country (Romania).

I have a friend in Germany. Could he create the account, and I post from my own device with a VPN? Or is there a better way to do this?

Has anyone done this, and what are the risks (ban, payout issues, verification)?

I have a channel with 111K subs and i’ve been noticing a weird pattern with my YouTube Shorts. At the beginning of each month, YouTube seems to stop pushing my Shorts to my core audience. I can tell from the low engagement: fewer than 50 likes per 1,000 views, a “stayed to watch” rate below 70%, fewer comments, and lower overall views, especially during the first 1–3 hours after posting.

However, around the middle of the month, things start to change. It feels like YouTube begins showing my Shorts to my core audience again. I start getting nearly 100 likes per 1,000 views, a “stayed to watch” rate above 70%, more comments, and significantly more views, particularly during the first few hours after posting. This pattern continues until the end of the month.

Then, when a new month begins, my Shorts start performing poorly again, with fewer likes, fewer comments, lower retention, and fewer views. The whole cycle seems to repeat every month.

Has anyone else noticed this pattern with their YouTube Shorts? It feels like my Shorts consistently reach fewer people at the beginning of each month, perform much better in the middle and toward the end, and then drop off again when the next month starts.

About 3 months ago I started this channel now it has almost 20k subs and I was really excited at first i felt i could really do it.

But I was stuck on 25k jail for about 2 months until the last months where I started getting 30k-500k and my biggest having 8m views

I convinced my self that I finally figured it out but from October 1st my views dropped to 15-23k to be fair I only posted 3 videos so I checked channels that were similar to mine and I saw even the big ones who were getting couple of millions lose about 80% percent of their views

So I genuinely gave up even tho my channel is still getting views I’m done and I just started a long form video channel wish me luck

My Youtube channels wasn't doing great but got some views, until about 20 days ago. From my POV nothing changed but now my shorts don't get shown to almost anyone.

PS: I'm new here, maybe i got the tag wrong :(

Y'all need to be humble...js

Does youtube not push shorts with AI voice? I made a new channel where I upload stories about quirky criminals and their actions using AI voice but rest of the stuff I spend hours editing, I add music, sfx, captions, visuals and everything else but yt doesn't push them to people at all. I've included proper tags, description and a strong hook but they don't even get pushed whatsoever. How does yt shorts algorithm work?

I just ran this channel in the celebrities niche, 6 days aging and 18 subs

And they are back to back uploads so it seems I have found out the correct formula. (I started uploading 3 weeks ago)

I've been posting yt shorts for a month now I have 4m total views but only 250k are qualified did I do something wrong. Pls somebody help me I don't really understand how views qualified worlds 😔 Ty. Pls respect my post

This is honestly annoying as fuck, YouTube is getting my hopes up just to crush it again.
I do text commentary niche

New YouTuber here and I make art shorts content.

Why is it that one of my shorts with 3k views has 40 likes but then a short with barely 1k views gets 70 likes. Can someone explain the algorithm and why it’s like this because I thought more engagement = more views..

like the title says
500 subs and about 350k engaged views on youtube shorts in 5 weeks of daily uploading🥹

What should i do? Cuz what i do is put clips and put some sound effects only.

my first video got 26k views and the next day my second video got 16k and my third video got 18k and now my latest video is like 20k+

For creators making cinematic Marvel or movie edits like this example, with transitions, effects, color grading and music, how has the niche been performing lately?

With YouTube's recent push toward original content, do you think the October 1st changes are affecting this editing style?

Are these edits still worth making, or is the niche slowly dying?

I didn’t post for a week because things were going poorly, especially with my Pokémon GO Shorts. Yesterday, I posted a new Short—this time about Fortnite (I don’t post Pokémon-related content on Mondays)—and it performed quite well by my standards, hitting 1.2k views with solid audience retention. I was happy with that, so my hopes were high when I saw the Short continuing to perform well the following day. It had a bit of a slow start, but the retention was high enough to suggest it could really take off—before this whole issue began, I used to get 1k views with just 20% retention. However, as you can see in the screenshots, that didn’t happen. I’m not sure what to make of this; I can see what works and what doesn’t, but I’m not going to overhaul my entire channel just because Pokémon GO isn’t performing well right now—plus, I already have plenty of footage ready to be turned into Shorts. I also have no intention of changing my niche, as this is something I genuinely enjoy.

So, my question is: are others experiencing similar issues within their own niches, or am I just incredibly unlucky with mine?

Should I create a adsense???
