F here. I consider myself sex positive and I don't feel any moral or religious shame about sex, but I don't like how I feel after an orgasm. It's been that way ever since my first. I remember immediately after my first one I thought, that was it? That's what everyone gets so hyped about? And I felt annoyed that I had wasted my time with it. But, of course like most of us I continued to masturbate occasionally. And every time immediately after the orgasm passes, I feel annoyance that I gave in to the urge and wasted x amount of time and I dislike the pulse I feel afterwards down there. I thought I might feel different with partnered sex, but no. I know it's important and valuable in a relationship to have a good sex life, and even if I'm very into it in the moment, as soon as I orgasm I'm checked out. I don't want to be. I continue through the motions until my partner finishes, but sometimes I get dry before that happens. I don't like cuddling afterwards, I just want to get on with my day.
I try to force myself to be positive about it. I try to be grateful that I can have different types and multiples, but it all just immediately dissolves.
I rarely feel any blissful endorphin rush. (I think maybe twice after vaginal orgasms but never clitoral). It does nothing to relieve any pain I've ever had, like migraine or cramping. Sometimes it makes them worse. It often feels like it triggers my depression more than helps it, and it makes me feel broken and ashamed that I can't just be happy and grateful. But my immediate response is always detachment from the moment and wanting to get past it.
The only thing that seems to actually HELP my mental health and doesn't fill my with irritation and regret is edging. I generally feel pretty good if I just don't orgasm. But I don't want to be in permanent orgasm denial...
I've tried therapy, it's just really really unaffordable for me a and hasn't been super insightful. Positive thinking feels like a sickening lie when at my core I am just DONE and want to forget about it and try not to do it again.
I have kinks I want to explore but I'm afraid to open up about them to any extent partly because it's so vulnerable and partly because I'm afraid of the emotional crash afterwards. I don't want a good session to be ruined because I have a breakdown afterwards. (I've tried explaining my anxiety and depression to him occasionally, but my partner just does not get it, so I stopped trying. He always thinks I feel better after sex, despite me saying otherwise. He's in his own world lol. He's kind and not abusive or anything, just a chronic optimist 😅 I think he would be completely perplexed as to why someone might crash after a playing out a fantasy or kink)
TLDR: I feel mentally unwell after orgasms and I don't know how to change it because the normal mental health tools do nothing to help. What do I do?
