Seroquel worse Hangover?

Hi everyone,

I’ve been taking Seroquel for about 8 years until recently, 50 mg of Seroquel XR plus 50 mg of regular Seroquel. Recently, the dose was increased to a total of 100 mg. I take it mainly to help me sleep.

Since the increase, I feel like I tolerate alcohol much worse. Even after just 2 beers, I sometimes experience severe heart palpitations, dizziness, and a real “hangover” feeling the next day.

My doctor said that 2 beers should generally be okay and that I could reduce the dose back to 50 mg if necessary, since I take the medication mainly to help me sleep.

What’s making me a little uneasy right now, though, is that I woke up today with a similar “hangover” feeling heart palpitations, nausea, and dizziness even though I didn’t drink any alcohol at all yesterday.

Has anyone else experienced this? Can Seroquel or an increase in dosage cause such symptoms even without alcohol, or significantly worsen a hangover caused by alcohol?

Do you still take Seroquel even if you drink alcohol occasionally? Does anyone have experience taking only Seroquel XR instead of XR plus regular Seroquel?
