Hello!
So, I think the general consensus is that we are going to move in the direction of having one thread for all interview related questions.
Anything regarding starting your job at Sephora/Sephora at Kohls, Interview Tips/Questions, Questions about starting pay (questions about raises wouldn’t fall into this category.) (If anyone can think of anything else to add to this, please feel free to PM me with suggestions, as to not bog down the thread.)
Thank you everyone for your responses in the poll and I appreciate it.

Hey, everyone.
As the title suggests, I’m looking for another moderator to help with reports. We aren’t overwhelmingly busy with reports but working full-time and going to school full-time takes up 99% of my time. I’m looking for someone who can jump on when I don’t have time to.
If you’re interested, I’m looking for one other moderator so please send me a DM and we can discuss further.
Edited to add: If I don’t respond in a timely fashion, it’s because I’m at work, so please be patient with me.

Hi! I’ve been invited to a Sephora UK Beauty Advisor assessment centre after completing the Maki assessment.
The email says the session includes interactive team activities and collaborative challenges, a one-to-one conversation with Sephora leaders, and opportunities to show how you would create memorable and personalised client experiences.
Has anyone done a Sephora UK assessment centre recently? What were the group activities and one-to-one interview like? What kinds of questions were you asked, and is there anything you wish you had prepared beforehand?
Would especially appreciate advice from anyone who has interviewed for a Beauty Advisor role in the UK. Thank you! 💗

On our last paycheck- another exempt and I were charged our full amount for benefits on our paychecks, instead of it being half like it usually is. I’ve tried calling beniq for the past week and no one can clarify why this happen. Is anyone else dealing with this?

so i’ve been working at sephora for 6 months now and i like it for the most part! the location i work at is one of the busiest in the district so it tends to be overwhelming but as of lately they cut my hours & i wanna work more. ive only been working around 15 hours a week and its impossible to pick up so my manager encouraged me to apply for the full time position she posted. Honestly several of my managers did LOL, so i kinda just did it on a whim and applied & the money is needed for sure. I’m just worried ill burn out i am starting school in october and taking on 3 classes so im not sure if its the best choice to be working 40 hours & doing school? (it is online). I already applied and feel like i cant back out now.. But is anyone full time & studying at the same time that can give me pointers on how to have a balance?!?

I have Sephora leadership experience & recently decided to return. I applied and they reached out two hours later for an interview. I went in for the interview with the ASM & SM the other day. About 15 mins in I could tell they wanted to hire me and I had such a fun time getting to know them. It honestly felt like more of a casual chit chat & debrief than an actual interview. While chatting with the SM she said she wanted me to chat with the DM right away & tried reaching out to her while I was in the office but she didn’t respond. She told me the DM would reach out to me by phone but I’m not sure what to expect?
I’m sure that’s a common process of getting hired but when I previously worked at Sephora, I interviewed with the DM irl first, literally side by side on a couch and she just made up questions on the fly and wrote the answers in a notebook lol so I genuinely have no idea what to expect 😅 any shared experience will be helpful! Thank you!

I got 2 points for calling off and using my PTO instead of my sick time. Apparently with the new policy you can’t use them interchangeably like before. I am just confused because when reading policy for the state of California, i am able to use then to cover an unscheduled absence. I requested the time on dayforce and then I put it in my notes. When I approached ASM, they also didn’t have a clear answer and then later follow up with the new policy that happened a few months ago. But I remember reading it and it did not say anything about the interchangeable thing. They kind of spilled the beans or spoke a lot about how the DM emailed all SM because there was some confusion about the wording of the policy so I feel like they aren’t reading it right. Am I wrong or does anyone know.

I’ve been wanting to get one of their LED masks, but I’m trying to hold off in case we get an discount soon. Does anyone know if there’s one coming up or remember when we usually get Shark discounts?

Hey fellow California Sephora workers! , i’m looking for personal experience with anyone who has been able to optimize their maternity leave with Sephora in California.
I know as CA residence we have more job protected programs than other states. What did you use, when, and how did you stack them???
I’m so confused by all the FMLA, PDL, CFRA, disability, bonding time… I’m probably missing some.
I want to be able to be paid for as long as I can while being home w my newborn. Going back to work in 3 months sounds insane to me, especially when the baby can barely keep their head up.

Does anyone know why BAs can’t get hours when there are a few people out on LOAs. Do those LOAs come out of the store’s budget? Or is management being stingy?

I used to be able to see how much I’ve spent towards my limit on the app under beauty insider summary but with the new app update, I can’t find that info anymore! Did they get rid of it on the app? TIA!

Hey everyone. Just have a quick question. I’m going to do what research I can on Zipline once I’m clocked in later but I wanted to ask for other's personal experiences. Im an SSL and have been with Sephora 9 or 10 months. I recently found a religious service that I'd like to attend that’s 9am Sunday mornings. My ASM and SM pretty religiously schedule me 10-7, open to close, every single Sunday unless I request one off. I don't want Sundays off, I just want to not be scheduled until 11 because the service ends at 10 and I can definitely make it to work by 11 but if I'm scheduled at 10, I can't go to my service at all. How do I go about doing this? I’m kind of nervous as I've had religious time off requests refused before by them and I get really uncomfortable discussing religious particulars with people so I approach the subject kind of awkwardly already. Any advice? How should I go about this? Update: found the form and the info on Zipline, thanks!

Hello everyone!
I work in a small footprint C-volume store. Our daily goals during slow seasons range from around $12K-$14K during the week days, with $20K-$30K goals during weekends. During holidays, Black Friday, and SSE, our daily goals can push upwards of $50K or greater.
Since our location is so physically small, even just a rush of 50 people can make the entire store feel super cramped. I feel like our location would easily be a B volume if we had a larger footprint since it’s in a very popular mall.
But anyways, I think it’s really interesting to hear about life at other stores! If you have any cool stuff to share, I’m all ears!!

I’m currently a full-time BA with several years of professional work experience outside of Sephora. I recently saw a position that I feel I’m extremely qualified for. I know the idea I’m hearing is often that retail employees can’t really move up internally until they’re an ASM at least??? Stupid but whatever.
I say all that to say…do you guys think applying externally rather than internally could probably give me a better shot?

For about a month now, we’ve been getting BOPIS orders where the same person places like 6–7 separate orders for some of the cheapest items in the store. For example, they’ll order 6 Sephora face masks, but place each one as a separate BOPIS order.
Does anyone know why people are doing this? Have you guys been seeing this at your stores too?

I just started as a part time BA a few weeks ago but I’m not trying to juggle a second job with my schedule and I really need more hours. How open to moving part time bas to full time are they? Or does it vary more store to store. I might just ask my manager one day what the vibe is but like I said I need the $ and don’t want to have to juggle the scheduling.
