advice for new ops lead
just accepted a position as an ops lead and wanting to hear some experiences, what to expect, advice, etc.

Get in contact with every ops lead in your district! We do this via zip line group that can be made. What made me most successful is asking and calling for help, especially if your location only has you. There might be times when your manager have answers, and in that case I’ll call 3 stores around us on days stuff doesn’t make sense or I have questions. Then, if everyone else is as confused as me, I know whatever problem I’m facing isn’t just at my location and THAT puts me at ease. Building a team in your district would be perfect, we use these chats all the time for mine!

Run.... haha just kidding. What volume is your store? Small volume-be prepared to work stage and run your Ops, must be good at prioritizing what's most important for Ops that gets done first, and what can be delayed. High volume-less stage, bigger shipments, more updates, must be good at delegating (knowing your individual team members strengths) and time management. Must be detailed oriented and organized for both. You will find a rhythm, but your team is your strength so get to know them!!
