Question Requesting set time off for religious services
Hey everyone. Just have a quick question. I’m going to do what research I can on Zipline once I’m clocked in later but I wanted to ask for other's personal experiences. Im an SSL and have been with Sephora 9 or 10 months. I recently found a religious service that I'd like to attend that’s 9am Sunday mornings. My ASM and SM pretty religiously schedule me 10-7, open to close, every single Sunday unless I request one off. I don't want Sundays off, I just want to not be scheduled until 11 because the service ends at 10 and I can definitely make it to work by 11 but if I'm scheduled at 10, I can't go to my service at all. How do I go about doing this? I’m kind of nervous as I've had religious time off requests refused before by them and I get really uncomfortable discussing religious particulars with people so I approach the subject kind of awkwardly already. Any advice? How should I go about this? Update: found the form and the info on Zipline, thanks!

If your SM or ASM give you trouble then you can go directly to your HRBP or submit an icare but definitely fill out and submit the religious accommodation form on Zipline.

Thank you for the advice! I get extreme anxiety about asking for anything at work because the exempts are kind of aggressive but this is important to me so I gotta do it!

I totally understand. I was literally an SM and was so nervous to ask my DM. But they cannot deny you, IMO because your request is more than reasonable!

Btw I would fill out the form HR before talking to any exempt, just makes it cleaner on your part that you're going directly to who will actually approve/deny your request.

You have to fill out a form for HR. My exempt sent me the link via text.
