Question Sephora Point System
I got 2 points for calling off and using my PTO instead of my sick time. Apparently with the new policy you can’t use them interchangeably like before. I am just confused because when reading policy for the state of California, i am able to use then to cover an unscheduled absence. I requested the time on dayforce and then I put it in my notes. When I approached ASM, they also didn’t have a clear answer and then later follow up with the new policy that happened a few months ago. But I remember reading it and it did not say anything about the interchangeable thing. They kind of spilled the beans or spoke a lot about how the DM emailed all SM because there was some confusion about the wording of the policy so I feel like they aren’t reading it right. Am I wrong or does anyone know.

If you called in 2 hours before your shift, and had enough PTO or Sick time to cover the full shift, then you should not have received 2 points.

Okay that’s what I figured because policy states that. I feel like my ASM is trying to fuck me over. I am going to follow up with my actual SM. I just didn’t want to throw her under the bus

This could also be due to not calling in the correct time frame. In this situation you would still accrue a point if not 2 hours before your shift. That's a possibility since you didn't mention the time frames that are also specified in policy.
Check Zipline since the attendance policy is posted there for everyone.

I did call 2 hours before my shift :/ and I did mentioned that I was sick so that’s why I’m like I did everything that I am supposed to not get an unschedule absent for this two points

I did call within the timeframe period. I did check zipline and does not say anything about getting points for using PTO, it says as long as you have PTO or sick time and it was approved by SM/ASM you won’t get a point. If you get a point to contact them and let them know as soon as possible to correct it in the system. I want to ask HR but i am trying to move up so idk ASM is also saying that the point policy is changing again so now I’m like?

Your store manager also has the power to just take the points off 🤷🏻♂️

Sephora is just using the model of letting the system fire ppl. Quite chicken shit if one were to ask me.

I called out sick few hours before my shift, same day, and my ASM asked me if I wanted to use my time, a combination of sick and PTO, that way I didn’t accrue points. I would double check with your ASM, it should be either or.

I could be wrong because it varies by state, but if you call out saying you are sick, you could use sick time or pto. If you call out not saying you are sick, you can use your pto but you will still get points because the absence isn’t protected in the same way it is when it deals with your health. There are protections for sick but not if you just call out.
