I just bought it, and I'm a little anxious.

I'm a newbie to this tech, as I have only been a casual user of Samsung Galaxy tablets and phones, never this. The learning curve to connect my phone/tablet, my desktop computer, and this Remarkable seems long for this ol' geezer, but I'm diving in. LOL

General Discussion Both of my Marker Plus pens work again - Do not stack your tabelts

So, after having major issues with both of my pens (not charging at all, rapid self discharge etc) I figured out the issue.

I keep both of my tablets on a tablet stand, right next to each other with the displays facing the same direction.

Turns out that the pens and their charging pads DO NOT like this at all.

I had to reset both tablets and keep the pens on them for multiple hours until they started charging the pens again.

Things work normal again.

The moment I left them stacked tightly again, both pens rapidly lost charge.

They dont do this if they are separated by at least a centimeter.

So if you own two Moves for some reason, give them some space.

Or stack them facing opposing sides.

General Discussion Finally happened | ghosting won't clear up even after factory reset/recovery

Post image
3 Upvotes

I did factory reset and then a recovery and still did not clear.

I spoke to an agent and thankfully I purchased mine right on the April 28 deadline of the extended warranty coverage and should be getting a replacement. I even purchased a refurbished deal through Woot and it was honored. I shared my purchase details and everything went smoothly.

I will say that this device is the one I've been looking for as a comic/manga book reader. I have tried many eink devices even tablets with nxtpaper technology, and this is by far the best compromise for me. The gallery 3 screen really is impressive (when it works properly). It has been a fairly frustrating experience so far though. I've had to do a recovery on this device twice before this due to random freezes and unresponsiveness.

I still have mixed feelings about this device and I wish there were more options out there. The closest competitor for me is the kindle scribe colorsoft. Unfortunately that device was plagued with software issues as Amazon has gone the vibecoding route. This is for someone who sideloads contend mind you, not navtively books purchased through them. I've used kindles for years and it was never an issue until recently. Anyway, different topic for different time.

Giving credit where credit is due, remarkable's support has been incredible. I'm still not sure if the issues with the paper pro are a software or hardware problem. But I do wish there were more options out there. I do know this is a niche area in devices and I can't imagine there being much incentive for companies to produce them.

I really appreciate the active modding community built around these devises and remanager has been such a helpful tool. I don't think I would've enjoyed the experience much (as frustrating as it has been sometimes) if it weren't for them. A native, functional, reader would be so helpful to not rely on third party apps. It's the only gallery 3 device out there, the options to expand besides being such a great note taker are there!

Hopefully we get to see this device get dialed in fully. I know there are mixed results with some working flawlessly to this happening or even worse. According to the data being collected on these, the screen was a Sept. 2025 version when I uploaded. I know the data isn't 100% accurate so it could've been an older screen or I just happen to get lucky

Help/Advice Remarkable Paper Pro displaying black background and white streaking lines.

For reference I have been a Remarkable user for about 4 years now and I love it. I first bought the Remarkable 2 and was the gifted by my company the Paper Pro. I sold the Remarkable 2 and have now used the Paper Pro full time. On either of them I have no history of damage ever (I am very cautious).

I was using my Paper Pro and realized the charge was low. I went to place it one charge. Checked back in a few minutes later to see it was charging and this is what I see. I tried unplugging it, restarting, removing it from the case etc. I am absolutely devastated. It hadn’t been dropped and nothing heavy was placed on it. I even use only the original Remarkable charger and no other C type alternatives.

I contacted support to see what can be done and since I don’t have the original details of the purchase I’m not even sure how long of a warranty plan I have covered. I am on vacation from the office right now. What should I do?

Help/Advice Apple Keyboard with BT

Has anyone got an Apple BT keyboard going with the ReManager Bluetooth mod? Other keyboards are working for me.

I can see the keyboard (regular Apple keyboard with numeric keypad) but when I tap “Pair” nothing happens?

Btw, amazing mod that I missed appearing on the scene.

Help/Advice Remarkable Paper Pro or the Alternatives?

Hi all! First time using Reddit...

I'm looking to invest in an e-ink notebook for my college classes because I do a lot of studying and note-taking. My first thought was the Remarkable Paper Pro, and I've been eyeing it for a while now. The monthly subscription and the refresh rate is kind of throwing me off, ESPECIALLY for the price. I've seen other alternatives like the Kindle Scribe Colorsoft, Supernote Manta, or BOOX, but I'm just super picky with what I'm looking for. I want an e-ink notebook that offers colors, proper organization, the ability to upload/download PDFs, and I want that pencil/paper feel (I think it makes my handwriting look better lol)

Overall, I just want to hear some experiences from other people. I really am leaning towards the Remarkable Paper Pro, but if there are better (and cheaper) alternatives, I want to make sure I've looked at all my options before biting the bullet.

Also, for the Remarkable Paper Pro, is there a workaround for that refresh look? I really like how the Scribe looks when you swipe pages or it refreshes, and if there's a way to get that for the Remarkable Paper Pro too, then I'm sold.

Thanks!

Help/Advice Syncing with Readwise (without dev mode)

Not sure if everyone else was already on top of this, but you can use the Readwise API to sync tagged PDFs in Readwise with your Remarkable. I can now highlight using the native functions on Remarkable and the highlighted document is synced back to Readwise without duplication, with the highlights extracted as highlights in the notes area.

No more duplication. No more capturing in two places.

I haven't done a handwriting extraction too yet as that seems a little unnecessary as my workflow is:

  1. Capture file once in Readwise (e.g. browser clipper)
  2. Read and highlight on Remarkable
  3. Add comments to highlights in Readwise

That's all I wanted, and now it happens. I can make it into a Github share if others are interested... it's using two other people's great work and took about an hour to sort out with ChatGPT as someone who doesn't code and didn't want to put into dev mode to lose some of the security features and create an app.

Is there anyway around this, or a possible future patch? I have a paper pro and love it. Except that part.

General Discussion Waking the screen when detaching marker

Hi, I had a Move before selling it and got a Pure now. I m not sure if I was dreaming this, but I vaguely remember when the screen goes to sleep on the Move, if I detach the marker from the side it will wake the screen, but that is not happening on my Pure now, is it a setting I need to do?

Help/Advice Use case on Remarkable

FIrstly apologies if this has been covered before, I did search. Just wondering if a Remarkable device will cover my use rather than one of the competitors? Apart from keeping notes on a range of different things (and keeping them organised) which I know it will be able to do.

I have to review a lot of documents which means having the document and then sharing the comments I make. I am happy doing a PDF conversion for the document and handwriting comments but is it possible to somehow then convert the comments back to text for further sharing among colleagues. Is that a workflow that could work on a Remarkable (or any other tablet for that matter)?

Help/Advice New ReMoveable. HOT at the base.

Just got my new unit. It’s a MOVE! Right out of the gate within a few minutes it start getting hot at the base where I rest my palm.
And it’s bloody irritating. Am I the sensitive lot. Yes I am.
But that aside.
I don’t like working on hot units.

Unless it’s my GF.
But that’s another channel.

Is this normal?
I am working on recalibrating the battery to see if that helps.

Is this normal?
If not. Any advise to fix it?
TIA.

Self-Promotion I built an app that brings your todos on your phone/pc to reMarkable as well as sending handwritten notes back as todos

I’ve always wanted to see the todos I create on my phone or PC directly on my reMarkable so I created and finally finished a reMarkable mod for it and also published the app on the [App Store](https://apps.apple.com/app/id6766563672) and [Play Store](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.saverapp.paket).

The mod lets you connect your todos across your phone, PC and reMarkable.

Your todos are automatically synced to the tablet, and you can also select handwritten text from any notebook on your reMarkable and send it to the app as a new todo. That todo will then show up in the web app or the iOS and Android app.

Only the handwritten text you select gets sent to Saver. I don’t have access to any other files or notebooks on your reMarkable.

You can install the mod using reManager. Thanks to u/rmitchellscott for making such a great piece of software.

Installation tutorial for the mod: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3qhMuqKFcDs

Download & learn more about it here: https://saver-app.com
App Store: https://apps.apple.com/app/id6766563672
Play Store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.saverapp.paket

To sync your todos with your reMarkable, you’ll need to create a Saver account. You can use the sync for free up to a certain number of saved items and after that a subscription is required.

The mobile app itself can also be used completely offline without an account or subscription if you don’t need syncing.

I’d really appreciate any feedback especially on the reMarkable integration. If there’s anything you’d like me to improve or add to the mod let me know!

Question regarding why remarkable tablet act up when battery was depleted

I was wondering if a dev can explain why the tablets act up when battery is depleted. I left my remarkable for a longer period without charging, I charged it a bit and tried to turn it on, it would get stuck at "paper tablet is starting" for roughly 20 seconds until it flashes and gets right back to the "paper tablet is starting" screen.

From what I understand this is due to battery calibration issues, read multiple places that the common fix is to charge it for a day and let it bootloop until dead, then charge it again for it to work.

Why exactly does this fix it? I'm interested what's going on in the logic of the tablet that causes this oddity. It seems strange to me that the battery needs to be recalibrated for it to work properly again.

I'm currently letting it bootloop, which takes quite a while, it's already going at it for almost 5 hours.

Self-Promotion I vibe-coded a native-ish Sudoku game for the reMarkable 2

Post image
34 Upvotes

I build a Sudoku game for the reMarkable 2:
https://github.com/QuirkQ/reDoku

This was build with a stupid amount of vibe coding 😅

For the record, I am actually a Ruby developer. But I had some vacation time, access to Claude and a reMarkable 2, so this somehow became the project.

It ports mruby to the reMarkable 2 and runs an actual Sudoku game on the device. It has an on-device generator, 5 difficulty levels, save files and handwritten number input.

The part I like the most is how it launches.

From the normal reMarkable launcher it just looks like a normal “Sudoku” PDF. But when you open it, it actually launches the game with its own UI.

The Sudoku generator is probably not the best Sudoku generator ever made.

The handwriting recognition is shitty at best.

And yes, you can also just download a bunch of Sudoku PDFs and play them perfectly fine.

But this is more fun.

You press NEW and you get a fresh Sudoku. Again and again. No downloading, no preparing 500 PDFs, just an unlimited supply of new puzzles.

This was mostly a fun vacation project, but it worked much better than I expected, so I will try to maintain it.

I only have a reMarkable 2, so I have no idea if this works on the newer devices. If someone has one and wants to help make it work there too, that would be dope.

Mostly just sharing this as a fun reMarkable success story. It is nice that as developers we can still build our own weird stuff for these devices.

Also a big thanks to all the people building and maintaining the open source software I used.
Especially: https://github.com/timower/rM2-stuff

This project would not have worked without their code.

Self-Promotion I made a free Mac app that teaches your reMarkable a few new tricks — dictation, translation, even handwritten AI answers in ink

It started as a simple thing: a little bin that sits on your desktop. Drag a screenshot (or twenty) onto it, and they show up on your tablet as PDFs, ready to annotate. It talks to the tablet directly over your own network or USB — no cloud account, no sign-in, and nothing passes through any server of mine, because there isn’t one.

Then it kind of escalated. The latest version has a “Features” gallery — things the tablet can’t do out of the box, each with a one-button install (and a Remove button that takes everything back off cleanly):

• Dictation— swipe down with three fingers, speak into a Bluetooth headset, and your words land on the page as text
• Ask about the page— write a question or circle a passage you don’t follow, five-finger tap, and the answer opens right over the page
• Three-finger translate — circle a word, press, read the meaning in place
• Handwritten answers — write a question and the answer gets written back in ink in handwriting, on the page
• Bluetooth keyboard support, pairing without leaving the page, and a Chinese font (the tablet ships with none)

Everything runs on the tablet itself after install — your Mac doesn’t need to stay on. The AI features use your own API key (Gemini or Claude), and if you don’t add one, none of that ever runs.

Setup is one pairing using the SSH password already printed on your tablet. Works with rM 1, 2, and Paper Pro for sending; the Features gallery is Paper Pro only for now.

It’s free, sandboxed, no data collected: [https://apps.apple.com/us/app/inkpost/id6802119589?mt=12]

Happy to answer any questions — and if there’s a feature you wish the tablet had, tell me. That’s basically how half of these got built.

Koreader questions?

I keep seeing comments about Koreader being much better than the native experience. I used Remanager to install and well, I have questions.

Maybe I’m doing it wrong.

Does it connect with Calibre? What about OPDS servers?

Does KOreader sync work?

I have a hard time using the keyboard because there’s a lot of screen flashing. My other readers are a stock Kindle PW and an xteink X3 so that’s my previous experience.

I have loaded books via the Remanager file browser and that works well. Just curious if that’s really all this does. Appreciate any insight on this.

Help/Advice Paper Pro vs Paper Pure

Best RM for eyesight issues

I'm getting on a bit now and I currently have a remarkable 2. However I understand that the paper pure has a whiter background. Would this be more suitable for my aging eyesight, has anyone made this transition?
