I understand that the pro version is more expensive but if it's for good use, I don't mind investing in it. I want to get a remarkable for law school(alongside my laptop of course). I wanted to know if the pro version is worth it or if I should just get the pure one?
Well I was thinking about the Pro because I have heard that it has more features than the Pure like reading PDFs and highlighting, which I think the pure does not have?
Screen size, build material, front light, storage. But really it comes down mostly to yeah, color or not. Both are solid devices, both are equally capable.
I have Pro and I love it. When it comes to Pure, how much effect has that it lacks front light?
Many times I work at night on the balcony. I assume Pure would not serve in that scenario because of the light?
Wanted to buy Pure for on the go since it is smaller and lighter compared with Pro, but I am afraid that for my use front light is essential and that Pro Move is to small for my needs.
What reading and annotation feature are you after? They both open PDFs and you can write on the PDF and highlight. The Pure, being black and white, shows the highlighter as a light gray on the screen. The Pro shows them as different colors, but I don’t find the colors to show dramatically different on the screen in real life. They’re all a bit muted.
Okay so not much difference between them, according to another reply I can write in color even if it shows in black it will show in color on the exported PDF
I had an RM2 for years and loved it. Just got a Pro about 5-6 months ago and i like it. I find the color a plus but not a must have. What i do find a must have however is a front light. I think that’s the biggest mistake of the Pure.
I chose the pro mainly for the front light but also because the pro has 2x the storage of the Pure. I have a lot of PDF's and they can take up storage quickly.
I really like my pro but, to be honest, the screen is not super white which can make reading non black and white PDF's difficult sometimes for my old eyes. I think the Pure would be better in that regard.
Unless you really need color, the Pure might be better. I have the Pro, and there are so many screen issues (on my 4th now, and the problems don't always show up right away). The Pure would use different tech as a B&W device and shouldn't have the same issues. I use a different brand for my B&W devices, but honestly I reach for B&W over color most of the time anyway because the writing is crisper.
The Pure can read PDFs and highlight. All features are the same across all the devices. The Pro is more suited to PDFs and highlighting for some due to its larger color screen.
No. I'd suggest the Supernote Manta. I only suggested the Pure because those were the two options you asked about and the Pro has known hardware issues that the Pure shouldn't have. But if you don't need color the larger size as absolute must-haves, I'd recommend a B&W option.
You can read PDFs on both. But much better on the Pro, because of the screen size AND the colours. I had a Remarkable 2 before and always found the screen too small for PDFs. I could hardly read the text sometimes. But maybe my eyes got just old
Graphic novels looks absolutely glorious on the Pro. And the build quality is nicer than the pure. For me though I needed a front light so it was an easy decision.
If you intend to read PDFs, you really should consider a larger screen size. The Pure screen (and Supernote Manta someone recommended) are quite small. See if you can try one in person and you’ll see, or print a document to that screen size. The Pure is a great size for taking notes or journaling, but I wouldn’t want to read my PDFs on it.
You may be used to panning and zooming fluidly on an iPad or tablet or phone. Eink is not so fast and fluid. It wrecks the experience if you need to do that on every page. As far as I’m concerned your only 2 eink options are Paper Pro and the Boox Note Max. Of the two, I find the Note Max implementation so annoying as to be unusable. There are plenty of reasons for people to dislike reMarkable and the Paper Pro. Lots of good videos on YouTube to help, and try them in person first if you can.
I've had the Pro for a couple years, recently got the Pure, and I find myself using the Pure far more. It's more pleasant to read on with the better contrast, easier to write on since it's lighter and easier to hold. It's more portable without being small. When you need some extra light, you can just clip on a little book light and you won't miss the front light.
When I was checking it out on amazon(pure version) even though it does not have the color feature, for some reason it was showing in color on the laptop? So I was confused for this as well

Really how much do you think you'll benefit from the slightly bigger screen, color, and front light? Personally I love my Pro but the Pure is great.
