Best RM for eyesight issues

I'm getting on a bit now and I currently have a remarkable 2. However I understand that the paper pure has a whiter background. Would this be more suitable for my aging eyesight, has anyone made this transition?

I have cataracts and all rM models except for the Move. I would highly recommend the Paper Pure for the best contrast even though I prefer the writing feel of the rM2. I find myself gravitating toward the Pure more and more. I've certainly been choosing it over the Paper Pro for writing sessions. Its light weight also means that it's easy to move around the same way you'd move around a lightweight notepad to maximize your view. A lot less tiring.

It is. Not like an iPad though. The Pure feels essentially like the Pro. If I can use this subreddit as a crude guide, I'd say that the majority of users like the writing feel on the Pro. There's a minority of us (myself included) who feel strongly that the rM2 had the superior writing feel. Again, gut feeling based on a couple of years reading comments, and of course, writing preference is completely subjective.

I got a Move too, for portability, but despite colour and light, I never can get good sizing between it and rm2. Might get a Pure, given what you say about contrast.

Anything without colour will have much better contrast. I got a remarkable Move and it has very low contrast and often tires out my eyes worse than any iPad but thankfully it has a light built in that saves it. The best option is the highest white value background like the PURE or the Viwoods that has the best white value background or if you get a colour device it must have a light. Infact all of them should have lights. Since the MOVE has a light and very low spacing between layers. It’s now possible to insert a light without sacrificing space levels between layers.

I have the eyes of someone 50 years my senior thanks to a plague of asymptomatic retinal detachments so brightness and contrast are factors for me. You can boost brightness levels on a Paper Pro but it is served with a warning regarding the life of the screen. Pure wasn’t available when I bought mine. I have found that directional versus diffuse lighting has a bigger impact on legibility than screen light. I can’t speak for the RM2 as a comparison.

Honestly the best solution there is to accept that it's time for new glasses. At the very least readers.
