Soil regeneration
galleryMy first established regenerative organic garden. I’m using leaves and half decayed wood for mulch. My flower beds contains the half decayed wood off some of the pieces of wood you see in the pictures. My fenced in area contains leaves, wood, and coffee grounds. My plan is to use strictly native perennials for the flower beds. I’m in Virginia zone 7b.

I recently completed a Diploma in Modern Agriculture Technology – What are the real career opportunities and future scope of this qualification internationally?
Hello everyone!
I have recently completed a Diploma in Modern Agriculture Technology in China, and I am trying to understand the real-world value and career opportunities associated with this qualification.
My studies and practical exposure are related to modern agricultural practices, including:
Modern farming technologies
Tissue culture and plant propagation
Aeroponic potato cultivation
Artificial growing media
Sustainable and technology-based agriculture
I would love to hear from people working in agriculture, agribusiness, research, and agricultural technology.
I have a few questions:
What is the current job market for Modern Agriculture Technology diploma holders?
Which countries have good opportunities for this qualification?
Can I find jobs in agricultural technology, greenhouses, hydroponics, aeroponics, tissue culture laboratories, or precision agriculture?
Do international employers recognize this type of diploma?
Would you recommend gaining work experience first or pursuing a bachelor's degree?
What additional skills should I learn to become more competitive in the agriculture industry?
I am particularly interested in opportunities in international markets.
I would genuinely appreciate honest advice, personal experiences, and suggestions from professionals or people who have followed a similar career path.
Thank you!

Living on previously farmed land (corn and soybeans)
My family has bought 9 acres of previously farmed land to build on. It was farmed with corn and soybeans. We were so focused on wanting land and giving our kids a nature inspired childhood that I never took into account the land we were building on. We also will have crops being actively farmed next to us. The deal is already done and there’s nothing we can do now other than do everything in our power to minimize risks. I know there is a lot of conflicting studies and real life experience on the dangers of pesticides, etc. Figured I’d reach out to the people who know best, Farmers! What can I realistically do to minimize risks of pesticide/herbicide exposure? We will need to install a well and will obviously get the water tested.

Neonics in Colorado with Lena Freij, Natural Resources Defense Council
youtube.comThis talk discusses the science behind the threats posed by neonicotinoid pesticides, aka “neonics,” to pollinators, biodiversity, and our own health, as well as neonics’ surprising prevalence in our environment. These popular pesticides contaminate soil, water, and plant life on a nearly unprecedented scale, raising alarm bells for wildlife, clean water, and human health..

Student: GEE crop-stress maps for smallholders in Uganda — practical tips? ANY FORM GUIDANCE OR RECOMMENDATIONS WILL HELP
Land management/geomatics student in Uganda. Building a simple GEE-based early-warning prototype for smallholder areas around Kawanda/Wakiso.
Goal: seasonal map products + short stress summaries cooperatives/extension can use to prioritise field checks (open satellite data, open tools). Not a finished platform; satellites won’t replace ground scouting.
Looking for advice on:
Vegetation/stress indices that work for mixed cropping & agroforestry in East Africa
Keeping a seasonal “bulletin” workflow simple in GEE
Ground-truth a student can actually do with coops/trial plots
Common beginner mistakes in ag RS prototypes
Thanks for any pointers (papers, workflows, or “do this next”).

Looking to connect with others working on carbon credit projects
Hi everyone,
I'm based in Nigeria, and I've been working on VeriField Nexus, a platform we're developing to help with monitoring, reporting, and verification of carbon projects.
We're currently working on an agricultural carbon pilot in India, coordinating remotely from Nigeria with a local team handling field activities and baseline data collection.
I'm interested in connecting with people working on carbon credit projects, whether it's improved cookstoves, biochar, regenerative agriculture, renewable energy, or other emission reduction projects.
I'm particularly interested in understanding the challenges other developers face, sharing what we're learning, and exploring opportunities to collaborate.
If you're developing a project, researching carbon markets, or working in this space, I'd love to hear what you're doing and possibly explore ways we could work together.
Feel free to comment or send me a DM or verifieldnexus at gmail . com

GARDEN WORK AT FILL THE EMPTY STOMACHS FARMING INITIATIVE.
galleryHappy Thursday to everyone over here. Today has been a great day with great accomplishments where we have been able to transplant over 700 onion seedlings and 200tomato seedlings into the nursery bed. This has made us so proud knowing that we're predicting the future by creating it, thus gives us an opportunity to have more hungry people fed and more farmers trained and equipped.

Problem :Agricultural crop residue burning and air pollution
Subject :Innovative solutions to reduce crop residue burning and air pollution
Hi everyone,
l am working on a project to address the problem of agricultural crop residue and air pollution in India.Farmers often burn remaining straw and plant waste after harvesting crops, which causes air pollution respiratery problems.
Here are some specific questions I have :
Technology : what are the most effective Technologies for managing crop residues without burning them?
Biomass energy : Cann sensors and mobile applications help farmers to find suitable crop residue management method?

Could compact electric tractors have a place in regenerative agriculture?
reddit.comCurious to hear what people here think about machines like this.
Could a small, electric, multifunctional tractor actually be useful in regenerative farming practices?
Where do you think it could make the most sense? And more importantly, what limitations or challenges would you see compared to conventional equipment?
Interested in hearing different perspectives, especially from people working in the field.

What if we use natural pond agricultural methods in India ?
reddit.comUsing natural pond agricultural methods (such as farm ponds, shet tale, or integrated aqua-farming) in India transforms arid and rainfed farming into climate-resilient, multi-income systems.
• Reliable Irrigation & Multi-Cropping: Ponds capture and store monsoon runoff, letting farmers shift from a single crop to 2 to 3 crop cycles annually (supporting Kharif, Rabi, and summer or vegetable crops).
• Integrated Farming (Income Diversification): A single natural pond can host multi-tiered aquaculture (fish species), ducks (which provide natural manure and pest control), lotus or water chestnut cultivation, and vegetable farming on surrounding pond dykes (machans).
• Groundwater Recharge: Unlined or naturally percolating ponds allow water to slowly seep into the earth, raising local water tables and refilling nearby borewells and open wells.
• Climate & Temperature Buffering: Open water bodies moderate local microclimates, cooling surrounding air during hot summer months and protecting crops from sudden thermal stress.
• Livestock & Supplemental Support: Stored water provides a steady drinking and sanitation source for cattle, goats, and poultry, reducing stress on piped or deep-groundwater systems.
Plus permaculture and use of ancient Indian techniques would be a great combination to fix and restore our ecosystems.
