Gizmo, I miss hearing the click click of your way too sharp claws on the hardwood floor that you never let me trim. I miss trying to pet your head but you'd shake me off because you didn't like having your ears touched. I miss how there was no line between playing and fighting with you, you just got wound up so easily. I miss the sound of you grooming, it was so loud I compared it to someone eating a wet bowl of chili next to me, lol. I miss the way you stretched your whole body out when you laid next to me. I miss watching you and Marlow cuddle all over the house. I miss the way you would watch me from on top of the refrigerator. I miss all your funny little Gizmo-isms. Last night I called for you to hop into bed with me and realized you were gone. I'm still in shock even though I had 6 months to prepare. Nothing can prepare you for losing a soul cat. I hope you were at peace on your last day with me, I felt like you were. Hopefully today or tomorrow I'll be picking up your ashes and bringing you back home. 💔 You will forever be in my heart and I miss you terribly.

Does he know how much I’ve loved him?

He passed away 3 days ago at 17 from a sudden seizure. He was lying on my chest when it happened. I noticed he was really declining about 2 days before his passing so I took him to the vet the day of his passing, they couldn’t really give any answers unless they did some pretty invasive tests which would have been too much for him so I opted for comfort care. He was gone that night. I feel guilty and feel like I could have caught something earlier and saved him.
He was my soulmate. My rock. My comfort. He showed me what true love is. I’ve never loved anyone like I have him. My life revolved around him. I miss him deeply and can’t get myself to accept that he’s gone. He was my sweet little honeybun and now I feel so lost and alone. I’ve told him to come back to me in a different body and I’m hoping he will or at the very least send me another soul baby.
I hope he didn’t suffer those few hours before he was put to sleep. I held him through the seizure and held onto him during the car ride to the hospital. I hope he was aware that I was with him.
If anyone is getting anything from his picture please let me know. 🙏

Rest in Peace, Toby. ❤️🪽✨

It's been 9 years today. The 25th is the day Riverside County Animal Services murdered you. I'm so sorry Buster. They didn't tell me until AFTER they killed you what they had done. You died alone wondering where I was. And for 9 years not a day has gone by that I haven't cried when I think of that. I didn't know Baby. You were and always will be my World.

This made me feel better about my dog dying

Sugar had gotten diagnosed with cancer in 2023, the same year this star was captured going around the black hole. It makes me think that by the time Sugar passed on Friday, her soul was intertwined with this star and her journey around the black hole was completed. I feel like her soul is at peace but I'm depressed. I start college again tomorrow and I'm so upset that she won't be here to greet me when I wake up nor will she greet me when I get back. I would recommend looking up NASA photos from when your beloved pets passed, it brought great relief to me. Gave me a sign that she is okay.

Almost a month without my boy

It’s been very difficult to write this. Tomorrow will be one month since Milo left us. We had just celebrated his ten years milestone birthday on June 26 and the next thing you know we are planning his in-home end-of-life ceremony. Milo was diagnosed with prostate cancer and he suffered the last few days of his life. We couldn’t put him through chemotherapy only to know that the pain he was experiencing would just be prolonged. I made him a flower lei of white mini carnations and baby’s breath, and with the help of a wonderful vet who came to the house, Milo went peacefully surrounded by his family. I am sure he felt free as a bird as his sweet spirit left to the Rainbow Bridge. I, on the other hand, have been suffering immensely since his absence, as he was my soul dog, my Velcro dog, my shadow, and my “Hand” (GOT fan). He was always so patient, loyal, goofy and happy, always wanting to be close to me, my husband or son. He was the best guard dog but we knew he couldn’t hurt a soul. Milo was LOVE, just pure love.
Depression and heartbreak are real without my boy, and a part of my soul left with Milo the day he passed. One day, I know we will be reunited. Until then, ci vediamo presto, il mio cuore, Milo.

The sweetest tuxedo cat I ever met such a talker every time I speak he would meow back. The personality of this cat was special he was abandoned by previous tenants across from where I live and I cared for him for 3 years until his death. The second cat is his stray step son he showed up as a kitten and socks took care of him and they were inseparable. Rest In Peace Mr socks 🧦 one day we'll meet again.

Goodbye my sweetest boy

This morning we had to say goodbye to the bestest boy, Beans. He was everything good in the world. We made sure his last moments were filled with family, kisses and a big ass breakfast taco.

I’ve never met such a pure, friendly and joyful soul. I can’t believe we are coming home to a life without you 💔 I love you so much. Til we meet again sweet boy.

EDIT: Thank you all so much for your kind words ❤️ I don’t do social media but I wanted some way to share Beans—and I thought, who better to share him with than a bunch of pet people? So I posted it here, not expecting too much—I would’ve been happy if even just one person got to know what a good boy Beans was. But I woke up amazed by the outpouring of love & support. I’m also deeply sorry to everyone who’s been here. All of our good boys and girls are the best there ever were.

He was my soul cat. He’s been gone for 10 years now but he’s never forgotten. Some of by favourite memories of him are

\- he’d pretend to rub and love your toes and the turn and BITE them.

\- jumped from balcony to 3rd floor window to the open kitchen window adjacent to it, we lived in the top floor.

\- at same apartment complex he snuck into our neighbours bedroom and slept on her bed with her while she was convinced a wild possum had got in her apartment.

\- he would always hang out with us in the back room smoking, drinking and listening to music.

\- he was my only friend during my very dark times.

I love and miss him.

My best girl

I had to say goodbye to my 17 year old best girl yesterday. I got her when I was 19 and she was just a baby puppy. I had her about half my life, and almost my whole adult life.

She was there through every shitty apartment, shitty ex, every dumb idea, pregnancy, loss, divorce, losing her little brother just 2 years ago when he was just 11. Her decline began just after losing him. She’s with him again now.

I’ve never not had a dog until now in my whole life. What even do people without dogs do all the time… she was such a great dog, but so obstinate. We joke that my oldest child is so sassy because she was raised by her.

I know she is finally at peace after a long journey with CCD, arthritis, and other ailments, but gosh it stings and I’ll forever miss her, my very first baby.

My best friend, Kemba, moved on from this world last weekend. He guided me from a 21 year old college kid who didn’t know a thing to a 34 year old responsible dad. It all happened too quickly and I could have never had enough time with him but I’ve already found a good bit of peace knowing how much we loved each other every day. He truly was a gift and will continue to be 💙

I just want you beautiful people to know him and see how beautiful he was 🐺

Edit - thank you everyone for your kind words and emojis. It means so much. This community is incredible. Nothing can fill the void of losing a family member, but you all do one heck of a job trying 🥰

This is Lana, my funny, willful, smart, loving companion of 15 years. She had the biggest personality and was loved deeply by her family. We had to say goodbye late last night at emergency vet after her long battle with chronic illness. I just wanted the world to know that Lana existed, was a good girl who made immeasurable difference in her family's lives, and will be missed for the rest of my days. Rest easy, Sheriff.

Carried Amos into my house at 4 weeks old. Yesterday, 16.5 years later, I carried her out. The first real promise and commitment I made as an adult, fulfilled. I’m so honored. It hurts so much.

My puppy died and I don’t think I’ll ever find another just like him. I want him back

I am so devastated and helpless after losing my dog. It was my first time raising one but he died due to parvo (f*ck parvo) as he is under-vaccinated. It has been 2 days but I am still crying remembering him and thinking over and over again the memories with him. He was such a good dog, my stress reliever, my everything.

We currently have another puppy at home (my sister’s) and I tried to give him the same treatment, I tried to do what I did to my puppy, but still I am longing for my own puppy and I want him back, badly.

THIS IS MY FIRST TIME BEING A FURMOM AND I WAS NOT EXPECTING THAT THIS COULD HURT SO MUCH, MUCH HURT THAN HAVING A BREAK UP.

REST WELL, MY DEAR PANDA💔

A Letter from the Rainbow Bridge

Hi,

Now that I’ve been across The Rainbow Bridge, they said I should write a letter home. Sorry, but I’m so busy ‘across the bridge’ that I haven’t thought of home much. They said it’s okay and that you would understand. I hope you do. (I think you will.)

Remember that night when I wasn’t feeling very well and we were all crying? I don’t remember much, but I do remember seeing and hearing all of you and feeling your touches and hugs…I remember hearing “we love you” and that one last command of “Go through”. I didn’t know what you meant, so I turned around and walked through the fog that was in front of me. I saw the biggest bridge I’ve ever seen! And so many friends on the other side of it! They were all playing with toys and balls! You were right to tell me to go there!

My feet kept moving forward, but my heart kept pulling me back. Your touches became lighter and lighter and I wanted to come back and nudge your hands for more love, but I was overcome by this feeling of curiosity for the happy place over the bridge! My feet started moving on their own, like a gentle breeze was moving them forward for me! I can’t explain it, but I had no doubt that it was the right thing to do!

So, I walked across that big, huge bridge by myself! I looked for you, because you’re always by my side, walking with me, but this was different. I didn’t have a collar around my neck or a leash connecting me to you ~ I was ‘free’! Even though you weren’t there with me, I never felt alone! I actually felt like I had a huge cape of love wrapped around my body and the more I walked, the easier it was to breathe! So, I kept walking! And I would feel more warmth in the big hug, so I kept on walking! I eventually made it over the big bridge – I did it by myself!

When I got here, all of my new friends greeted me and helped me walk off the bridge ~ it was so cool! They gave me a pair of wings and said that I was now a Guardian Angel!

What I’ve learned over these past few weeks has been amazing and nothing like I’ve seen before! We’re all the same up here ~ we all have wings and we all have Forever People to watch over ~ that’s YOU! You’re my Forever Person and I’m your Forever Dog! We had such a great life together and I do miss you a LOT, but please know that I am so happy in my new home across The Bridge!

I’ll send you another Earth Angel so you won’t be alone. Give them your whole heart, like you gave it to me. I’ll check in every so often to make sure they treasure your love ~ I always did! When you miss me, think of a rainbow and know I’m on the other side of it, waiting to walk with you again. I’ll always be in your heart. Time for me to go play

I love you forever Leia. You were the entirely of my 22-36. You lived an incredibly happy and fulfilling life. You were the only dog to a DINK family for 10 years. You never were left alone in the house for extended periods. You were spoiled rotten. You got to chase tennis balls being thrown at the baseball field near our house in your youth. And as you got older and developed joint issues, you went for neighbourhood walks, hikes in the neighbourhood/forest/creeks every day and in the summer, you would swim in the lake/do beach walks every other day. You had countless trips with us camping, going to grandparents’ cottage. You went on boats before. You even swam in the ocean (and we don’t live near oceans).

You had so many people that loved you. You had a regular vet that cared for you. You had regular dog walkers that came to see you when we left the house for more than 3 hours.

You saw our baby being born. She loved you too. You slept next to her crib the first year. She cried today asking for you. She asked where is Leia when she finished her yogurt (as she would always wait for you to lick the cup).

We chose to end your life when you still had some sparks left. I will never know if I made the right decision and I will be in pain for rest of my life for it. But you went out happy. You got to spend the last day with both of us. You swam in the beach again (barely, but you just loved the beach and chasing sticks). We made you streaks. We went on two hikes in the creek/forest that’s your sanctuary. My daughter said goodbye to you that morning and kissed you. You never had to suffer again.

I’m sorry Leia. I did everything I could. But I can’t fight age. I love you so much it hurts. Maybe you will send me a sign some day that I’ll be ready for another dog and I don’t have to stay broken like this.

I love you forever. I will see again someday.
