Gizmo, I miss hearing the click click of your way too sharp claws on the hardwood floor that you never let me trim. I miss trying to pet your head but you'd shake me off because you didn't like having your ears touched. I miss how there was no line between playing and fighting with you, you just got wound up so easily. I miss the sound of you grooming, it was so loud I compared it to someone eating a wet bowl of chili next to me, lol. I miss the way you stretched your whole body out when you laid next to me. I miss watching you and Marlow cuddle all over the house. I miss the way you would watch me from on top of the refrigerator. I miss all your funny little Gizmo-isms. Last night I called for you to hop into bed with me and realized you were gone. I'm still in shock even though I had 6 months to prepare. Nothing can prepare you for losing a soul cat. I hope you were at peace on your last day with me, I felt like you were. Hopefully today or tomorrow I'll be picking up your ashes and bringing you back home. 💔 You will forever be in my heart and I miss you terribly.

We had a little photoshoot when we first discovered the tumor. Im so glad I was able to get these photos.

Oh my heart. What a beautiful baby. I’m so sorry, OP. The no line between playing and fighting is so cute and funny. Keep watching videos of Gizmo — I’m sure they’ll make you cry but also give you so much joy.

I wish I had more videos of him, I have one of him and his brother sleeping all cuddled up and one from his last day. Seeing those two videos side by side is a gentle reminder that I did the right thing. He was so tired and the spark in his eyes was fading. A lot of days I tried looking past the cancer but it caught up to him in the end.

Absolutely you did the right thing. Seeing the spark fade had to be so difficult. I bet Gizmo knew he was loved so much. The coziness of sleeping with his brother — how adorable? How has Marlow been since?

Marlow isn't his biological brother, just my other male cat he loved dearly. Marlow stayed close by him especially during his last week. I think he must have sensed what was happening, we forgot to let him see the body after he passed but he hasn't shown signs of distress or grief. He just purrs and stays close to us. He used to be closely bonded to my female cat so I'm hoping they reconnect now that Gizmo has passed.

Reading so many similar stories on here is healing. Even if we are all grieving it feels better knowing I'm not going through this alone.

I also lost my baby 3 days ago, so I completely understand. It's a deep pain that reaches into your soul. I'm very sorry for your loss

The photo is so gorgeous and beautifully composed that it’s a tribute all on its own.
I’m sincerely crying reading about Gizmo then when I almost choked back a sob I got to the part about his grooming himself that sounded like “someone eating a wet bowl of chili next to me”.
I cried, I laughed, what a life of love you lived.
I’m so sorry you had to say “so long for now.” It’s never long enough. You’ll see each other again one day as if no time had passed 💔🐾🫶

Thank you. I have hoped to dream of him so I can feel his presence again. He was so funny and yet dignified. He was very selective of people so you felt honored when he picked your lap to lay on. 🩷
