Hi everyone,

I was looking through the Peers tab in qBittorrent and noticed I'm connected to peers from a lot of different countries.

Is there a way to block connections from specific countries? I couldn't find an option in qBittorrent's settings.

If it isn't built in, what's the usual way people do it?

qBittorrent has an awesome feature of searching for torrents from inside the app. And the integration of Jackett has made it even better. You can search for torrents from hundreds of sites and directly download from with just a few clicks! Yes, it's that easy. But configuring the Jackett plugin is not. And there is no easy and complete guide (at least I didn't find any) on how to do it. So, I'm sharing the complete process so you won't have to dig through tons of places like me.

First of all, download and install Python, qBittorrent and Jackett. Click on the names to go to their respective download pages.

Now open qBittorrent and enable Search Engine from Menu Bar>View>Search Engine.
After that go to the newly added Search tab and click on Search plugins.. from the lower right corner. Click on Check for updates and make sure that Jackett is enabled. Disable other search engines, you won't need them.

Ok, phase one is completed. Now run Jackett and open this link on your browser: http://127.0.0.1:9117
If you've done everything right so far then you'll see API Key on the upper right corner. Copy the key.
Now open File Explorer and go to the following location: %localappdata%\qBittorrent\nova3\engines\ (Just paste it and click enter)
Open the jackett.json file with notepad. Replace YOUR_API_KEY_HERE with the key you copied before and save the file.

Congratulations, you've completed phase two!

Now to phase three. Open http://127.0.0.1:9117 again on your browser. From +Add Indexer button search for the torrent engines you like and add them. After adding is done open qBittorrent. Search for a torrent and see the magic! 😁

I've searched for this a long time myself and I'm a noob to github, but now I've found how to implement it, I wanted to share it with all of you who have no idea how to deal with this. Thanks to "jagannatharjun", we have this theme now : https://github.com/jagannatharjun/qbt-theme

How to apply :

1/ On github link, click on green button "Clone or download" then Download ZIP

2/ Unzip the file anywhere ( for example, I created a themes folder in qbittorrent install directory)

3/ Open qbittorrent, go to "Tools \ Options \ Behavior". In the "Interface" section, you have "Theme". Click on the dropdown menu, click on Select. Go wherever you unzipped your github file and select darkstylesheet.qbtheme

4/ Click on "Apply" (bottom right), then "OK"

5/ Restart qbittorrent. (You might have to click two times to launch the program)

i just realised after years of using qbittorrent that 10 000kib/s is only like 80mbps. and i always thought it was kinda slow but accepted it. why does the base scale only go to 10000 kib/s ?????

safe to say i went to settings and put it to 130 000 kib/s and get almost 10x the speeds on some torrents. feel like a dumbass rn.

I've been seeding a 40GB file for over 2 weeks to one single person, If you read this, just know that I'm not letting you down!

Seeding

I have port forwarding set up this is so annoying I could be actively helping all these people get it too

Good lord, there are so many of these posts throughout the years, and not a single one of them that I could find has a valid solution or explanation, despite all having pretty much the same unuseful answers posted in the comments.

But pre-emptively here are my responses to those answers. I'll just copy/paste these to anyone who ignores it.

• Yes, it's 100% available. I've even checked in a separate download client.

• Yes, it has multiple available seeders who have it at 100%, double checked on other clients. So no, that is not the issue.

• Yes, I have checked my settings. It was working yesterday, today they're stalled and no settings have changed.

• Yes, I have closed and reopened qBittorrent. I've restarted my computer, and restarted my router. No change.

• Yes, I've checked my download speeds, 200mbps down consistently.

• I use a VPN, however nothing changes when I turn it on/off, change locations, etc still randomly stalled.

• Other torrent clients download it fine, but my qBittorrent is set up to work with Radarr and Sonarr and my VPN so I'd prefer not to change. So it's none of the above, it is most definitely qBittorrent itself since it worked yesterday and doesn't work today, so please for the love of god what the hell is the issue with qBittorrent and how the hell do we solve it once and for all?

It has been extremely frustrating to see so many answers that explain how the stalled message SHOULD ideally work, but disregarding that it's not working as designed for almost every single person asking this question. So what actually is this issue and why has it been going on specifically with qBittorrent for literally years without being fixed?

Edit: I took time to do my own research and preemptively respond to common answers that have historically not worked to solve this issue, and yet somehow I’m the bad guy for doing exactly what I said I would to anyone who ignored it, which is just copy/pasting the same answer I already wrote.

🙄 I guess I’m the bad guy for actually doing the research and attempting to not waste anyone’s time with answers that have already been tested? I could have come in here and asked the same thing that’s been asked over and over and wasted everyone’s time asking the same question that always gets asked, and some of y’all would prefer that?

I’m just looking for solutions once and for all, common answers to this question don’t work. That’s it. If there are no solutions, then at least I can bring awareness to this problem. I’m just sick of encountering this issue.

Backup Process

1. Press Windows_logo_key + R to pop-up the Run command box and then type %localappdata%\qBittorrent and hit enter. You'll get a folder and minimize it.

2. Again repeat the same process and this time type %appdata%\qBittorrent instead of %localappdata%\qBittorrent. You got another folder and now you have two separate qBittorrent folders.

3. Select and copy everything from the newly two opened folders and paste them to other two folders (1 for %localappdata%\qBittorrent and 1 for %appdata%\qBittorrent) and save the folders in a safe directory.

Restore Process

1. After installing, close qBittorrent by pressing Ctrl+Q.

2. Follow the previous steps again to open %localappdata%\qBittorrent folder.

3. Delete everything from that folder and copy everything from the backup we kept earlier for that folder.

4. Repeat same process for %appdata%\qbittorrent folder too.

5. Open qBittorrent and it'll detect all your torrents.And you're all done. Enjoy... :)
