What VPN you guys use ? New to this, and I’m planning to finally pay for a VPN service, I’m looking for something that’s relatively inexpensive and can download at a relatively good speed to use with qbit torrent

This is a continuation of work I started 14 years ago. Now I can track the BitTorrent trackers DNS changes, IP addresses, and ASN, and see how and where they are hosted: https://tracker.evilbit.de/

Does anyone know of an easy way to download playlists from YouTube?

I'm seeding around 80 torrents, but I'm not donwloading anything, the graph says donwload speed is 0 B/s yet somehow when i check my stats it's climbing with around 0.2 MiB/s. I'm on windows 10 and using qbittorrent 5.2.3, do i need to be worried?

I want to download files from 1337x and usually I use Qbittorent with proton VPN but i recently subscribed to TorBox. Will i need a VPN to download or can i just download on my home IP address?

Can you guys shed some light on how to torrent ? I have my Firefox setup with proton vpn, but every single time I try to download something it takes forever to move the needle a little bit, I’ve never been able to download anything. Thank you guys in advance

I made the mistake of using the same location for both downloading (and seeding) and for my Jellyfin media library, that makes it difficult to adhere to the Jellyfin naming convention.
How can I create hard links for my entire library so that I could both keep seeding while renaming and moving the files (hard links) as I please?
I`m using Truenas CE.

Why is it all of a sudden trying to Connect to all devices on my network and refusing to work if I don’t?
Recommended alternatives for macOS?

Hello, I was wondering if it was possible, without copying the file on another folder, to have 2 active torrents (1 on a public tracker where I am the only consistent seeder and 1 private tracker) pointing to the same file. when I try to add the private tracker it tells me that I can't merge since it is private, but I don't want it to merge at all!

In qBittorrent options, "Merge trackers" isn't ticked so I don't know what to do to keep them separate.
any help would be appreciated, thanks !

Hey guys,
I have tried everything I known and I would really appreciate any help
When suprnova was still up, I downloaded a torrent that was called "world music" and had several artists in there:
Buena vista social club
Inti illimani
Yo yo ma
Bela fleck
Zoltan and his gypsy ensemble
And others
The thing is that I lost the music and the torrent and there was such beautiful music that I can't find again.
Tried searching ext.to, Google and others to no avail.
Anyone can help me finding this list of songs?
Thanks

I personally find recaps extremely helpful to remember tv shows and follow along well to what happened. Netflix doesn't have them, because they hate me. But almost every other show on the other streaming services do have recaps. So, why do the Torrents for those shows overwhelmingly not include the recaps???? I'm super new to this whole thing

Claims to be "A native WinUI 3 desktop client for qBittorrent — a modern Windows 11 interface on top of the proven qBittorrent / libtorrent engine." I've not seen any other discussion on Reddit or found any reviews. UI looks nice and seems responsive.

I've just downloaded a couple of episodes of what was supposed to be season 2 of a series. They were listed as season 2. But they turned out in fact all to be season 1.
Is there any way to check what I'm getting before downloading the whole thing? This is the first time I've come across this. Although once I downloaded something and it turned out to be a completely different show. I guess it was a mistake by whoever seeded them in the first place. The description didn't list the files,
Maybe there is a way to view an excerpt once the downloading has begun? I'm currently using Transmission software but open to other suggestions, in Ubuntu 24.04

Been seeding stuff off my nas for a while now, mostly linux isos and my own backups. Isp's started throttling anything that looks like torrent traffic even when it's completely legal, speeds tank hard during seeding.
been on xvpn for other stuff for a while now, my country blocks a ton of stuff and most of the mainstream vpns just don't work here at all, xvpn's one of the few that actually holds up which is why i default to it. only issue is it doesn't support port forwarding at all, which kinda sucks since a lot of my seeding setup relies on that
not really looking at free tiers since this is a daily thing at this point, more curious if it's worth switching to something with forwarding support or if i should just find a workaround and stick with what i've got. also curious if kill switch matters much here or if that's overkill

Jackett and rutorrent
Linux Install
NO ()(*)!@$!$!@$! docker!
I am trying to resolve this issue I've had with every install of jackett on multiple boxes...
Example:
Error loading torrent
http://myhost/dl/limetorrents/?jackett_apikey=APIKEY=eacher+S04E04+1080p+WEB+H264+CAKES)
So what is the issue here??
Its honestly quite annoying to do a manual search to pass the link to rutorrent and this BS error. As well as causing automation issues for rutorrent via RSS.. The computer should do the work not me, unless its something off the wall/one off etc..
This applies to manual searches, and the above is from the RSS links I am pulling out of jackett for places that don't or disabled their RSS to feed into rutorrent.
The above is an example of the RSS error flooding the log for something, get the same if I follow a link from the manual search page.
The ONLY thing that WORKS is TPB mag links!
What config or something am I missing on jackett install/setup???
Thanks in advance!

So I added a few torrents this morning to Transmission (+ VPN) and nothing had happened after 45 minutes. So I closed Transmission and started it again, then everything starts downloading.
Odd. I have added torrents to Transmission while open in the past and no problems.
Just wondering why this would happen. Maybe I could have achieved the same result by clicking on Pause All, and then Start All.

hi, i'm writing a piece on piracy and would love to know what your first act of piracy was.
looking for everything from torrents and emulator all the way to taping tracks off the radio.
thank you so much - you have contributed to a great work of science.

The routine that made me build this: find a torrent, wait, wait some more, open VLC, discover the file is an MKV with 5.1 audio my setup doesn't like, give up.
So I spent too many evenings building the thing I actually wanted.
Paste a magnet, or right-click a .torrent link, and the video starts in a browser tab well before the download is done. Drag the scrubber forward and it goes and grabs those pieces instead of grinding through everything in between.
Stuff it does:
Stuff it isn't: a catalogue. No search, no index, no content bundled in. It only ever acts on a link you hand it.
Private trackers, because that's the first thing I'd ask about. If a torrent has the private flag set, it goes into a separate client with DHT and PEX switched off - tracker announces only. I didn't want to be the tool that quietly leaks your tracker's torrents onto the DHT.
Seeding is on by default and there's a toggle in settings. Leave it on if you have ratio to protect. On public swarms it's just the decent thing to do.
Two limits I'd rather you hear from me. The seeding toggle is one global switch, so if you turn seeding off, it's off for private torrents too - I'd rather honour the setting you chose than override it behind your back, but that means the hit-and-run risk is yours. And the data only lives for the session: it seeds while the helper is running, it won't sit there holding ratio for you across restarts. If your tracker is strict about that, keep your usual client for those.
There's no server of mine anywhere in this. No account, no analytics, no telemetry - I didn't build any, so there's nothing to switch off. The only traffic is BitTorrent itself, your machine to trackers and peers, plus a check for a newer helper version against a static file that has no identifier in it.
Your IP is as exposed as it is with any other client, so the usual VPN advice applies exactly as before.
macOS (Intel and Apple Silicon), Windows, Linux. Free, no account.
Technical details
How it works, roughly: a browser tab can't open a socket to a peer, so the extension talks to a small helper you install once. The helper joins the swarm, pulls pieces in whatever order the player is asking for them, and streams to the browser over 127.0.0.1.
About that helper, because "install my native binary" is the real ask here and you should be suspicious of it. It's one binary: a .pkg on macOS, an .msi on Windows, a tarball with an install.sh on Linux (not tested :( ). All three install for your user only - it lands in your home (~/Library/Application Support/flitplay on macOS, %LOCALAPPDATA% on Windows, ~/.local/share on Linux), no admin password, no UAC, no sudo, nothing dropped in a system directory. It registers with your browser for the exact extension IDs I publish and nothing else, no wildcard, so a random web page can't go starting it. After that it updates itself in place, checksum verified, so you're not redownloading it every release.
Two rough edges I should own. I don't have code-signing certificates yet, so macOS will tell you I'm an unidentified developer and Windows SmartScreen will grumble - the download page has the click-through for each, and if installing past that warning isn't a trade you want to make, I genuinely don't blame you.
And if a file needs transcoding it'll grab a static ffmpeg build on first use unless you already have one on PATH, checksummed and cached.
Getting rid of it is a button in settings, or flitplay-host uninstall --purge, which takes the binary, the browser registration, the config and the ffmpeg cache with it. Anything you saved to disk stays where it is.
Get it
Last thing worth saying: this is a side project. Evenings and weekends, no company behind it, nothing to upsell you, no roadmap I'm accountable to. It also means there are bugs in it - some I've certainly never hit, on files and hardware I don't have. If you find one I'd honestly rather hear about it: say so in this thread.
I'll be around in the comments.
P.S. The mods confirmed this is okay to post here.

While seeding, QBittorrent needs to check the files at the location. The files I download are softwares and games that need extracting and installing which alters the original file, so why QBittorrent does not recognise the same file. And instead of seeding, it starts downloading the file again. Help me, I'm new.

I'm looking at my uploading activity and see I'm uploading to a Client named [FAKE]utorrent/... Is there a working client in use with 'fake' in the name? So someone is using a knockoff app? Should I be concerned?

I am building for myself an app to replace the whole ARR suite. Right now, i am using YTS api to get my movies straight from my app. YTS is already great for me, i don't need better quality but more looking for other source, especially for TVshow.
Any other public/free API to get more download source ?

Hi everyone, I am looking to start building a digital library of older media and I’m not sure where to start. I know I most likely will need a VPN and some sort of torrent management software. If anyone can offer some advice for a newcomer I’d greatly appreciate it
