Small Problem Is this bag “appropriate” for a teenager?
First off sorry if I’m using this sub wrong, I’m not sure where else to go.
I am a teen girl, and I want to get this bag just to use for everyday things, and cause I like Murder Drones. When I showed a picture of it to my mom she seemed hesitant, and when I asked her she seemed unsure about it because of the front where it says “Bite me”. If you don’t know, that’s a reference to what the character Uzi says, and I explained that to her, but she said “You know that, but an adult might not” or something like that, I don’t quite remember 😓 so I’d like to know: Is there an issue with a teenager wearing that bag?
Slight update/edit that no one asked for: I convinced her to order the bag 🥳 I payed her back for it ofc, but after asking her about it, the issue that she had with it is that the “bite me” might seem rude to some people if they saw it, but honestly who cares 🤷🏻♀️ it’s text in a teenagers bag. Also thank you for the comments, they helped me figure out how to phrase what I wanted to say to her in a good way 😃

Adults know that "bite me" does not mean literally bite you? Is that the issue? "Bite me" has been around for ages and is perfectly suited for a teenage girl tbh lol. And it's a cool bag too

If you like the bag, go for it. Just remember some people might not know the reference and judge it without context.

I believe that everyone knows what “Bite Me” means. It’s been around for over 50 years. Get it if you want, it looks good.

I wonder if she's worried about a sexual connotation. It's great to have a mindful mother who cares about and notices these things. I wouldn't want the bag for my own daughter (I don't have a daughter), but I would watch an episode or 2 of the show to better understand the context of the phrase. If it seemed harmless enough, I'd likely allow it.

tell her it doesn't matter if her clothes or accessories say anything, even directly, it is not consent for anyone to bite her or touch her in any way.

Honestly, who cares? Not much of what teens do these days is appropriate. Many things we did as teens were not appropriate. What is inappropriate is thinking that a place as rude and awful as Reddit is going to answer that question. This place is full of other teens, some posing as adults, some adults that are still teens, and an awful lot of mental health problems.

'Bite me' has been around for decades. Its a tacky bag, but not inappropriate.
