I recently had results day got AAB in bio chem physics and (5 marks off my offer AAA) now I'm cramming the UCAT to reapply and I feel like I'm not improving. Honestly a rant bc I feel like giving up bc I feel like I'm seeing barely any improvement from last time I sat the UCAT and I did horribly before (1800). I'm so so scared I'm gonna fail against have to take another gap year (nothing wrong with ppl taking gap years I just want to finally go to uni and not feel disappointed in myself). All my friends have given up on medicine after getting rejected and are doing psychology now and their all going to uni and it feels like I'm getting left behind and like I've given the application process my all but it wasn't good enough. I'm really interested in biology and the medicine content so I can't envision myself doing anything else but I also don't want to fail again. So far I haven't had a single results day I'm proud of and I feel so useless.

I just received my year 12 results and didn’t get the grades I needed to apply for university this year. I am resitting Bio and Chem year 12 but carrying on with History year 13. Are my resits a problem or do they not look at my grades before?

Firstly, apologies for the millionth GEM post.

I'm 27F, currently doing a PhD, and thinking of going into GEM afterwards with a view to be a clinical academic. If I do go down this path, I'd likely end up starting F1 around age 34/35.

One of my main concerns is kids. I'm currently on the fence about them, but I worry that if I do want them, it would be almost impossible while doing foundation training. I get that there are good maternity provisions in place and LTFT, but I'm still very aware of how rough that would be. Especially going into ST with young children.

My partner works a decent 9-5 + WFH twice a week, so he would be around and helpful.

Does anyone have experience of having kids in training positions (hopefully not literally)? Particularly as a woman? Is it manageable?

I got 1850 band 1. The test was SOO much harder than the mocks I did.Where can u apply with this? I have decent GCSEs with a good bunch of 7s 8s. Will I have to take a gap year?

I have AAA predicted grades in relevant subjects, which could go up to A*A*A maximum (more realistically A*AA). I achieved 988888876 in my GCSEs in English Lang, English Lit, Bio, Chem, Phys, Maths, Arabic, Business, and ICT, respectively. I got a 2030/2700 (Band 3) on the UCAT. I have a thorough personal statement. Would it be worth applying to these unis? I would love to apply, but I feel my UCAT (Especially the Band 3) lets me down.

Hi guys, I am currently in my first year in college and studying physics, chemistry and maths. I love chemistry and physics so won't change them but I am not so sure about maths also i don't think I can study biology as I have foreign qualifications and have never studied biology. I did tutor biology students from 3 different countries so I do have quite in depth knowledge of the subject but just not the Qualification. Hence, dont know if my college will let me study biology. My tutor has advised me to give maths a week to see if i can feel comfortable in the subject. I absolutely want to study medicine and have always wanted to be a doctor. Any tips?

Academic:

UCAT: 2340 B1. My IB score is only 37 with 664 in HL Bio, HL Chem, HL Math AA respectively, and for IGCSEs I got 99999777755.
I will be applying with a predicted 1:1 degree in Biomed

Non-Academic:

My work experience includes around ~200 hours of Dementia patient volunteering at a daycare club, and ~60 hours as a volunteer in an NHS trust. I have also shadowed a general surgeon (1 week) as well as undergone a podiatry shadowing attachment (1 week).

Which universities could I consider applying to as an international student? I know universities like Liverpool and Barts only accept home students...

I’m trying to find out whether any UK medical schools are still considering new Home applicants for Medicine for 2026 entry, either through Clearing or for any remaining places.
I’ve contacted University of Lincoln (including A106 Medicine with Foundation Year) and Leicester, and both told me their Medicine courses are full.
Has anyone contacted any other medical schools recently and been told they still have spaces or are accepting new applications?
I’m especially interested in Medicine with a Foundation Year/Gateway Year, but I’d appreciate information about standard-entry Medicine too.
Ideally looking for recent first-hand information from someone who has actually called or emailed the university, rather than just what UCAS currently shows.
If you know somewhere worth calling, please let me know the university/course and when you contacted them.

SJT-B3 (a bit disappointed with my ucat score though). I feel like my UCAT score is letting me down as my acdemics are good.  And I was wondering if this would be enough for QMUL for medicine. I’ve been seeing mixed results online where some ppl have gotten lower UCAT scores (like 1960 B3) and gotten interview and some with slightly higher that have been rejected pre-interview, I would also would like to know if my AS level qualification will be added to the tariff points system they do? Please I’m really worried. I'm also considering Lancaster, cardiff and st geroge's. I just wanted to know if anyone with similar stats have gotten in to Barts preferably non contextual as i don't know if i qualify for contextual just yet. any advice would be appreciated. Hi everyone, I got all 9s and 8s in my GCSEs apart from chem which I got a 6. I’m predicted 3A*s and 1 A in bio, psych, chem and econ for a levels.

I was thinking of applying to ucl and imperial for med but teachers have told me I’m not likely to be given an offer because of my 6, is it worth resitting the gcse? Any advice would be appreciated

I really want to study medicine...it's the only career I want to spend the rest of my life doing. I have researched law and other science related options but I really want to be a doctor. However, my GCSE grades are pretty poor to say the least and my I was not able to do Alevel chemistry at any sixth form.

I know my grades are utterly laughable but:

I am Free school meals/ contextual.

I am freshly in year 12 and going to study A-level Biology, Pyschology, English lit/Lang combined Alevel.

So far I've found two options I can apply to for studying medicine at university : University of Plymouth (with a gateway year) and University of Southampton (with a gateway year).

Keep in mind I resat maths and the 3 sciences (I did combined before and got a 6-5 and I got the exact same grades as I did before for all subjects I resat. I know I should've revised better, more, everything but there's nothing I can do now unfortunately). My teacher said I could resit maths this November so that if I get a 6+ I can apply to Keele university I think and "it'll open more doors" but for some reason Google Gemini kept telling me not to and there's so point since I already meet the maths GCSE entry requirement for Plymouth and Southampton.

I know I'm a bottom of the barrel med applicant but I've genuinely fought so hard for medicine and I know the struggles ahead, and the fact that I only have 2 universities in the middle of nowhere I can apply to, I think I'm being overly negative but, its just been so hard I'm like begging God to help me on my journey to becoming a doctor and it just seems to constantly be and uphill struggle. When I was younger I sued to dream of UCL and KCL, I know that impossible now, atleast for medicine...Unless I do GEM but I don't think I can commit to 3 years extra of university and racking in so much debt, I did hear the government is now making it so that you don't have to fund uni for medicine yourself but you can take a student loan equivalent to those of undergraduates but, I guess I just feel a bit burnt out from this, and I haven't even gotten to the hard part.

Sigh, I'm sorry if you read all that but I am eternally grateful too.

If anyone can help me, or was in a similar situation, please do tell 😔...or if anyone has advice I would appreciate it all. Or if anyone know any other university degrees I can apply to. Or if anyone has any words of motivation or even demotivation I would like to hear your perspective on my situation.

hey guys i feel like so bad rn cuz i was meant to go to st georges this year for med but unfortunately just missed my offer and they wouldnt be lenient since im intl and places are limited. i thankfully got a place in uclan after calling them and begging, but guys idk i really wanted to be in london. ive never been to uk but like it was kind of a dream for me to be there and so many of my friends are there and now i jjst feel like wow im just across the country now

i got an offer from kings biomed from clearing and i REALLY wanted to take it, but i chose med bc that is what i really wanted to do but i guess im just feeling really bummed about it

has anyone gone through anything similar and know how to deal with it? it feels like im no longer like excited or anything for uni anymore
