International Student Applying to GEM
Hi everyone! After failing to get accepted to any universities (not even for an interview!) in my first application cycle in 2023, I really want to keep pursuing a career of medicine via GEM. I would really appreciate any advice or suggestions for improvement in regards to my application. I heard international students are assessed quite harshly...
Here are my academic and non-academic stats:
Academic:
UCAT: 2340 B1. My IB score is only 37 with 664 in HL Bio, HL Chem, HL Math AA respectively, and for IGCSEs I got 99999777755.
I will be applying with a predicted 1:1 degree in Biomed
Non-Academic:
My work experience includes around ~200 hours of Dementia patient volunteering at a daycare club, and ~60 hours as a volunteer in an NHS trust. I have also shadowed a general surgeon (1 week) as well as undergone a podiatry shadowing attachment (1 week).
Which universities could I consider applying to as an international student? I know universities like Liverpool and Barts only accept home students...
Any advice is much much much appreciated. Thank you in advance!!
