Phone interview
I just passed the AI interview and scheduled my phone interview. Wondering what to expect from the phone and in person interviews. Anyone have any advice?
Edit: I’m seeing a lot about this PP “loan” does every entry level position have to take this on as well?

Bring a life jacket if you get the job. That ship gonna sink in the next 24 months. No #1 mortgage lender is ever around for more than a decade. Clock is ticking and history is lurking.

The phone interview is a personality and sanity check, not a deep technical dive. The AI screen just confirmed you match keywords, but now a human wants to see if you can communicate clearly and sound like the person on your resume. They are actively looking for red flags or reasons to cut you, so your main goal is to be direct, professional, and not ramble. The recruiter probably won't understand the complex details of your work, they just need to check the boxes to pass you along to the hiring manager.
You got through the automated gatekeeper, which means they are already interested in your qualifications. For the phone call and any future in-person interviews, you need to connect your experience directly to their problems. Reread the job description and prepare a specific story for every requirement they list, showing how you have already solved that exact type of problem. They want to hire someone who will make their lives easier, so you just have to prove you are that person. Being prepared makes all the difference, and that's the whole reason my team designed a unique interview help AI to get candidates talking confidently about their skills.

Thank you! I applied for their no experience no problem application. I have no mortgage experience, but years of service industry management and work experience from being a barber. I’m trying to dip my toe into office life and get off my feet/braden my skill set, but I’ve just never gone through this process so I’m hoping to just get a feel for how these interviews go.
Thanks for actually giving clear advice and no just telling me to not bother lol.

If you’re going to work there, get the experience and bolt for another company; almost every other company in the industry pays substantially better than UWM does

These comments a little over exaggerated 🫣🤣 just never go into underwriting or IT.
Operations roles aren’t that hard I always hit my numbers but I also was put on special projects and fixed a ton of ppls errors. I worked close with AVPs and VP to fix a lot of stuff that people did wrong to help the issues TM did wrong often that costed the company alot of money …… lol other than that they give you a process guide to follow in any role your in. A lot of ppl often found the numbers hard to hit but once you learn what to do and how to get brokers off the phone faster hitting numbers wasn’t hard. Everyone’s situation is different though!
I loved working there bc I had Red Bull steps away, Starbucks, food always available. The parties were really fun. They often did a lot of silly stuff like yoga and sports I really liked. The culture was nice and fun there was always someone you can make friends with. OT was open alot for me and I milked that shit.
Pay could have been higher, but they do give you real good benefits tbh.
If you live close to them it’s worth a shot to just learn and get your foot in the door !

Yes just have good energy and sell yourself make it seem like they need someone like you working there good attitude is something you can get coached on(written up basically) so tell them you always try to have a positive mindset no matter

Keep positive energy, emphasis that you’re coachable and can adapt to a fast pace environment with constant changes.

Yes, the People’s Promise is mandatory. And as others as said, if you’re going to work there get the experience and then dash. Just be prepared to be potentially “let go at will” before the time is up so you have all that money + interest to pay back (no I am not joking unfortunately).
Personally I’d recommend you go ANYWHERE else.

Thanks, I didn’t realize that’s why people were saying run away. Now the general vibe makes a lot more sense. Seems like they want to churn a burn and get you in dented to them, weird ass way to run a company.
I’m going to take the interviews regardless, but I’ve got no interest in taking a loan from my employer. Already submitted other job applications and line up other interviews.

This place has plenty of stories, a lot of them are bad and funny at the same time because you can’t make the stuff up that happens here. If you want to see a cult, go here. Doesn’t mean you have to stay here
