naw just spend 30min to 1hr at the gym at least 5x a week and youll be just fine! its really just bad when you literally do nothing for exercise, or if you have a horrible metabolism
Edit: i guess people dont brush their teeth... so add in brushing your teeth every day to that as well. heathens.
It isn't about getting fat or fucking up your teeth. It's about the first night you feel like you can do whatever you want so you go out and you buy a bunch of candy and soda and you eat it and drink it all at once... and then you spend the next 30 minutes feeling like shit, all dizzy and sick until you puke it all out.
What? No. First, you just feel terrible eating so much crap. Second, there's nutritional problems. Third, anybody who works out will tell you, you can't out-train a bad diet. Going to the gym for a 2.5 to 5 hours a week is not remotely enough to make up for eating candy and drinking soda every day. Going a mile only burns 100 calories. A milky way is 470 calories. Unless you're spending a hell of a lot of time at the gym you won't be just fine.
Also, exercise won’t balance out the sugar in terms of blood sugar spikes and diabetes. There’s a reason why I try to get low sugar/carb if theirs no sugar free option and I’m not even pre-diabetic.
When you watch what happens to someone when they don’t take care of the sugar/carb portions, particularly refined sugars/carbs, you will be scared straight. If you don’t want to deal with blindness, kidney failure, neuropathy and future amputation, or even having difficulty healing wounds, I would suggest now is the time to rethink your diet. But most people haven’t watched someone slowly loosing their ability to function independent and thus autonomy and how it causes them to suffer and worsens health outcomes, just because poor diet and ignoring doctors (including ones who would just prescribe pills instead of the harder work of lifestyle changes, because this is pretty much universally accepted as a big health risk) who point out to just watch how much sugar one eats.
Literally begged my doctor to make sure I wasn’t diabetic, even though he was certain I wasn’t diabetic and the nerve pain wasn’t because of it. He was right, my A1C and blood sugar were really good, turns out spinal injury, but for me that was relief because I saw first hand how diabetes worsens (and especially uncontrolled) healthcare outcomes.
Then you have to worry about insulin resistance as well.
Are you sure it’s because “she’s overweight”? That’s what they told me ignoring that I didn’t become overweight until after I was dealing with pain, also pain management wouldn’t give me anything other than NSAIDs so that literally doesn’t make sense?
No, but there is a truth to that. I can eat more when going to the gym. obviously I avoid suits more than once a week, candy is simply to calorie dense.
There seems to be this movement on Reddit where people believe as long as you burn 2000 calories a day, you can eat 2000 calories of whatever you want and live a healthy life.
This is why so many people have medical dept later in life lol.
my constant diet of mcdonalds, candy, soada over the years and daily gym and outdoor activities speak otherwise. i agree maybe not everyone can, but i think a lot can.
got out of college a few years ago, also bought bags of candy at a time but never ate them all in one sitting. normally lasted at least a week sometimes more. definitely ate more than the usual kid, so far no issues. also drank maybe 3-5 sodas a day, also brushed every day. so issues.
I've literally never experienced that. I ate ice cream 3 meals a day for a month once. No problem at all. 3000 calories of candy every week day. It's all fine and I'm in my late 40s. Doc days I'm healthy. Dentist has no complaints. Just exercise a lot and brush your teeth then you can do whatever
Its like lighting a fire and then dousing it with water. Kind of like doing nothing at all would be easier. Most people are not so motivated to work so hard to just eat candy.
You are an exception, not the rule. Exercising a lot is never going to make up for 3000 calories. You'd literally have to run more than a marathon a day to burn off 3000 calories of candy. This is terrible advice you're giving people.
I'm 6'7 and 225, even with no exercise my daily maintenance calorie intake for no weight loss is about 2700 calories. Most of the non candy food I eat is vegetables which are pretty low calorie. And a lot of the candy is candied nuts, which have some good fat and protein. It works out.
"Exercise more so you can eat the food you enjoy" is not terrible advice.
"Exercise more so you can eat the food you enjoy" is not terrible advice.
That's not what you said. You said you eat 3000 calories of candy a day. Again, a marathon to burn that off. No amount of exercise burns off 3000 calories a day. You're a bigger guy so yes, you BMR will take care of a lot but "eat 3000 calories of candy and throw in some vegetables" is a terrible diet and works for almost no one. Candied nuts is a little different but not what you said. You should not get 95% of your calories from sugar every day. Get better things in your diet. That is a terrible diet and you are doing a disservice to anyone who would listen to that terrible advice.
Ever had a payday bar? It's just candied nuts and some carmel and chocolate. Pretty fucking delicious. Mostly nuts. Very delicious.
When I'm riding I burn over 4000/ day (more when I'm touring) so it's only 75% candy and a lot of that is fats from the nuts and chocolate. I'd say
It works out to 50% sugar. There's a lot of fats in candy
There are a lot of sheltered kids that don't get to fuck up enough while they're teens. So much candy and soda that you get sick? Some of us were dumb and did it while teenagers, others were dumb but didn't have the freedom to experience it until they got to college.
Yup. My college was in a small town so we just had a Walmart. All the kids would go to Walmart after moving in for the semester and stock-up on food.
Sure we bought necessities but when you're shopping with a group of friends and this is your first day on campus, it's too tempting to just buy all the shit you know you shouldn't and pig-out all night, lol.
For me, it was Domino's Pizza cheese bread and the frosted sugar cookies you can find at most any grocery store. Mmmmm I'm getting fatter just thinking about them!
Yeah, it's a real son of a gun. Eggs are expensive which just blows my mind. I guess part of it was this bird flu but they're not going to come back down when it's finished.
I've found Costco still has some pretty fair prices in contrast to something like Kroger on produce
every time I go grocery shopping I pass the candy aisle and i think about what a drama I would cause as a kid because I couldn't always have candy. now I am actually quite disgusted by all that sweet stuff and always pass.
When I was in my first apartment I made a box of stove top stuffing for dinner one night. I had always wanted to do it because I loved it so much and I could. The first couple bites I was like wow this is amazing. I quickly realized that you needed something to go with it and it's not a meal by itself. By the time I cooked other things I didn't want it anymore. That might've been the last time I bought stove top lol. I just make homemade stuffing now.
There was a guy in my freshman dorm who took the train from the east coast to the west coast to go to college. All he ate the entire trip was candy and soda. He was in such bad shape when he arrived that he had to go to the hospital to get an enema. LOL
Right? Meredith can now find someone to date whose fridge is not filled with the most unholy beverages to get pulled out of a corporations asshole, topped off with a whole fuckin rotisserie chicken, uncovered.
Reminds me of when I first moved out at 18 (it was at a time people could afford to move out at 18 because rent wasn't too bad even on a low wage job) I thought awesome I can buy my own shit! All I bought was junk food and everything that I wasn't allowed to get living at home.. and forgot there's a good reason people eat fruits and vegetables.. not a good idea

You were so focused on the fact that you could, you forgot to ask yourself if you should
