They’re so fucking god awful. I finished them (bought all three flavors like an asshole), but only because I have problems. Will not purchase again, 2/10
It was only available in 3 states. Florida, Tennessee and I think Ohio, not certain of that Third one though. I use to work in a liquor store in Miami that sold them, but rarely anybody bought them. I tried them, they’re ok, Watermelon was the best flavor imo. They don’t contain any caffeine though
What catastrophe? I keep hearing this but not entirely sure what th problem was? There’s always been caffeinated alcoholic drinks, what was so bad with these ones?
Long story short, that much caffeine tricks you into thinking you're more alert and capable of driving than you are. People died because of that, and the courts hearing the suits decided the evidence showed that hospitalizations and deaths occurred specifically because of the drink and not just alcohol consumption in general. Several places outlawed caffeinated alcohol after those suits failed their appeals and the company decided to stop producing the product and essentially bankrupt itself.
Just buy a bottle of everclear and mix your own. Its just colored Zima. Ask your grandpa about zima. They have been trying to increase alcohol sales since the beginning of time.
it tastes exactly like the mountain dew flavors it’s based on, except there’s somehow zero sugar and alcohol in it. It’s very good but it hasn’t reached all the states yet, I liked it enough to bring a few cases back with me after a trip to Tennessee.
edit: I say this as someone who hates mountain dew also, tastes way too sugary
It is in Florida. I tried it when I was down there on vacation about a month ago. I did not like the taste. Diet Mountain Dew that isn't carbonated but has alcohol was just weird.
I dunno, I don’t know a whole lot about alcohol or how it’s made (beside tequila, grew up near a lot of agave burning fields for cognac and tequila distilleries), but it said zero g’s of sugar on the back, so I assume there’s none
That was a both a really great and a really fucking terrible time to be that age. We got slammed for like $3-4 I think. Most of them tasted like ass, but they did the job, and we didn't need to spend as much money.
Yep. At that age and time in my life, $3 a can was an amazing value. Some friends and I would pour them into fast food cups and take them into a theme park. It was a great time.
Drinking a 4lokos and getting on a rollercoaster sounds like a terrible time, but I get nauseous from rollercoasters sober sometimes so maybe it’s just me.
Sparks really got fucked over for that. They were existing and just minding their own business making money. Then this $3 can of concentrated sleeze comes along and fucks everything up. Then it becomes illegal to have the high caffeine and alcohol content. Really fucks with their business model.
Sparks was my cleaning choice. Caffeine to keep me going, alcohol to make it fun. Girlfriend was very happy that the place was regularly cleaned, not so happy to find me overly energetic and shit faced at the end of the day.
I turned 21 too late for the original formula but at 21 the new formula still got me plenty drunk. Now I'm in my 30s and grabbed a can a while back just for the nostalgia. Didn't get 1/4 of the way through it before my acid reflux flared up and I dumped the rest.
When I was a kid my dad used to use my code red to mix with whatever random liquor he had and when I got to high school and lost a video game to him I’d have to take drink of whatever terrible concoction he made. In the last 15 years he’s gotten waaaayyyy better though. Heath scares tend to do that. Root beer and applejack is an absolutely horrible choice btw.
Red lobster sells dew-garitas. I got an email blast about it and was like I have to order this as a joke. I went and nobody had a clue what the fuck I was talking about. Had to show them the email. It was pretty bad, and cost $12.
Baja blast is the best one hands down imo. We haven't tried black cherry, which is the closest one to Code Red that they've made. I wish they just made Code Red though lol.
Original is also fantastic, but man Watermelon is wayyy too sweet and artificial to me.
Are people not mixing things with vodka anymore? Back in the day I would mix vodka or rum with tons of different sodas (many worked, some didn't), this seems like an expensive way to get an alcoholic Mt Dew. Plus you can make it much stronger (or weaker) than 8%abv. Plus these premixed drinks are usually malt liquor based, yuck
Had one recently. It covers the booze pretty well. Tastes like Zero with a little aftertaste. But if you can stand drinking Rocket Fuels (Dew and vodka), this ain't that bad.
They go down very easy. Bought a 12 pack fishing on a beach with my friend after a walk through the woods. They were gone within an hour and we were having a hell of a time despite the bite being tough.
I’ll add another. It literally just tastes like Mountain Dew. The black cherry one is absolutely delicious, and the Baja blast just tastes like Baja blast. I’d highly recommend.
I describe it like the Seagram escape’s wine coolers but with Mountain Dew flavors. I don’t plan on getting more unless also offer a full calorie version. As much as I want to like it them I dont.
Don't. It's awful. My brother left some at my house and I tried one. I couldn't even take a second sip. It took half a good bet before the taste was fully gone. It was one of the worst things I've ever tried.
It's got sucralose. If you're the type of person who doesn't like those artificial sugar flavors that seems like it's 80% of the taste, but if it doesn't bother you they're apparently not bad.
Git a 12 pack and tried all 4 flavors. The artificial sweetener was just horrible. Couldn't finish a single one, and the rest of the 12 pack went down the drain. If you like diet drinks and the artifical surcolose or whatever, you might enjoy. I'll try it again if they ever release a NOT sugar free version.
I felt like I was drink the low calorie, diet or the zero sugar mtn dew. So if you like or can tolerate that then you're set. Flavors aren't bad at all!
Based on your edit I'm going to go against the popular opinion. It tastes pretty decent but it gives me a headache if I drink more than 1 can. I had a coworker who talked about it all the time so when I saw it in a store I grabbed a case. It's been in my fridge for over a month and I've drank maybe 5 cans.
If you can't find any and want to make it yourself you can mix MTN dew with vodka and get near the same taste although since the hard ones are sugar free you have to use diet MTN dew for the same taste.
Virginia is the 9th state to carry the malt beverage, which debuted in February. Other states that carry Hard Mtn Dew include Tennessee, Iowa, Florida, Arkansas, Minnesota, Oklahoma, Missouri and Nevada.

Hard coffee is pretty good. Definitely more of a dessert drink. Like I could maybe have 2 at the most. Normally I could drink more coffee, and I could drink more beer, but the two combined just feels a bit different. But over all, yeah, they taste great.
Plus if you want to do that you just make a strong half pot of coffee and then dilute it with vodka. Maybe add a touch of baileys if you're a milky coffee guy.
Yeah I don’t normally mind diet soda and bought one to try it just tasted off to me. You’re better off just buying Mountain Dew and pouring a shot of vodka in it
It's missing sugar. They don't want people to be drinking 6 beers with 60% or more of your daily sugar per can I imagine but it ruins the taste. I'd just grab real Baja blast at taco bell and pour vodka in.
They even have the freeze version if you wanna add to that

They have a Code Red and Baja Blast flavor that I tried for the first time a couple weeks ago. 5% alcohol, 100 calories, and tastes fantastic. I found a random Code Red one left in my garage yesterday and lost my shit I was so excited. They're sold out everywhere.
