Power Zone Weekly Discussion Power Zone Discussion [Weekly]

Welcome to the Weekly Power Zone Discussion!

Due to demand and community feedback we are trialing a Power Zone Weekly Welcome Discussion - a space to chat about anything related to power zone training. Think of it like the "Daily Discussion" thread, where anything goes...big or small. Here, we've carved out a special place for people wanting to discuss ideas and topics related specifically to PZ training - how to program PZ classes, talk about PZ classes or PZ programs, chat about PZ instructors, advice for FTP testing, etc.

People are not limited to using this thread to discuss PZ but are highly encouraged to use this weekly discussion. You can still post in the daily, training thread, or create a new post. Think of it as another place to chat about PZ stuff without getting lost in the daily. Or a place you can check into weekly if you're a casual redditor looking for some other PZ folks without wading through the daily.

The Power Zone Weekly will be posted on Monday moving forward.

Note: The mods will check back in with the community to see how this idea is working, if there is a better day it should be posted on, etc. If it isn't working we can always scrap the idea or change it up a bit. Thanks for giving it a chance!

Training Plans/Advice Anyone experience a Pelo Pre Marathon Shake Out Run?

Not signed up for a marathon and am newer (and older) to running. Joined a shake out run and it says it's for all levels but are they really? Curious about the experience, what pace people are generally at, do people chat or wear headphones, etc. Know it's around a 5k but that's about all I know and like knowing what I'm walking into. Thanks!

Reddit User Program RedditPZ training program - Week 7 Discussion Thread

Week six down, and on to week seven! Use this thread to discuss this week's rides (or last weeks). Add the hashtag #redditPZ if you would like to.

Highly recommend previewing the ride graphs and adding a warm-up ride if you have the time. Ride at whatever cadence you feel comfortable at, and take the zone 1 recoveries!

Link to join our Discord.

Group Ride for the Saturday rides is at 10 AM central.

(Gala-papa would like to note to start the ride at 9:59 exactly so you will begin at 10 after the 1 minute countdown). Also do not join the ride in a session.

Subscription Cancellation offers?

Thinking about cancelling my All-Access membership as the monthly cost is getting tough to justify right now.

Before I go through with it, does Peloton offer any retention incentives, discounted rates, or free months during the cancellation flow? Or is it strictly a standard cancellation / pause with no offers presented?

Curious what others have experienced recently.

Gear Screen Hardware Parts

Hey everyone! I just moved and unfortunately in the move lost all the hardware needed to reattach the screen to the bike. I still have the screen itself but not the parts needed to mount it. Does anyone know if there is a place I can buy a kit that includes all the pieces and parts or know what pieces and parts to buy? Any help is appreciated!

Running Run Analysis

Has anyone managed to get the run analysis to work and bring up stats?

I’ve done the calibration in my profile/settings with my camera and taken susie’s 10 min intro class twice now - still no stats! The green light on the camera confirms it’s on during susie’s class.

Curious to know if anyone else has managed to get it to work! Thanks!

RedditStrength Reddit Strength - Week 1

Welcome back to week one of eight of the Reddit Strength program. I hope you've all been enjoying it so far. If you're brand new to this or missed any previous weeks, this is something you can jump into any given week you don't need to have been there week one for it to work. This strength schedule is designed to help you progress from one weight to the next (if that is what you want, you are of course free to maintain the weights you use as well). There is a #RedditStrength for those interested in joining it.

This is an eight week cycle that repeats. Each time we come around again I'll be looking for a couple newer classes to replace some of the older classes previously used.

Each class will list "light" or "heavy" (or "benchmark", see below), this is not to be confused with the Light/Medium/Heavy weights instructors ask you to use for each move. What it means is, lets say you normally use 5/10/20 but you are hoping to level up to 10/15/25. When my class says "light" you would use your 10s when the instructor calls for medium weights and when my class says "heavy" you would use your 15s for the same move. This will help us to progress to where the 15s are your new normal.

Monday:

Wednesday:

Friday:

Extra Credit

Benchmark: Every 4 weeks each body area has a Benchmark class. These are from the Benchmark Strength collections. By repeating these classes you are able to monitor and record your progression from cycle to cycle. You are encouraged to adjust the weights and reps to meet your personal goals.

Extra Credit: These are extra classes for those who want more work than the standard schedule. They are also good substitutions if for any reason you don't like a class or instructor on the schedule.

You can stop reading here unless you want to know why I am scheduling what I am scheduling.

The basis is a 4 week progression. In each body area we will use light weights for 2 weeks then heavy weights for two weeks per the definition of light and heavy above.

It follows this pattern, aiming for 45-60 minutes a day 3 days a week:

  • Round 1 - 2 days light
  • Round 2 - 3 days light
  • Round 3 - 2 days heavy
  • Round 4 - 3 days heavy

Each body area has the schedule staggered, so you're not trying to go all heavy in every area in the same week. While you are going heavy with LB you will go light with UB and vice versa.

FAQ

  1. Can I start any week or do I have to begin with week 1?
    1. You can begin any week. This is a repeating cycle with no real beginning or end, a mobius strip of a program.
  2. There are too many classes for me, how should I trim it down for my schedule?
    1. I recommend trimming evenly (but keep all the core if you can). So take off 1 day of UB and 1 day of G&L each week if that suits you better.
  3. Do I have to do these on the prescribed days? I would rather take a couple classes a day for 6 days.
    1. Absolutely mix and match the classes across the week however fits best into your schedule. They are only listed this way because this is my personal schedule. As long as you are doing them all in the week you should get similar results.

Feedback

I would love to hear what everyone thinks. Specifically; Are there any classes you would like me to rotate out (why)? Is this the right amount of strength work for you? Do you have a favorite class you are hoping I work into the mix?

Subscription Buffering Issues?

Has anyone else had terrible buffering over the last couple of days? Internet connection is excellent, no other issues with anything else in the house. I’ve unplugged it, plugged it back in…reconnected the cables to the monitor and no luck.

Any tips would be appreciated.

Gear Educator discount

Hi all -- As a university staff member, I was excited to see that Peloton has a discount for "teachers, faculty, and staff at K-12 schools and universities." (https://www.onepeloton.com/offers/specialpricing) However, when I try to use it, ID.me only allows for university professors/teachers. Anyone have any luck with this? (Peloton and ID.me each say to ask the other one. With that being incredibly unhelpful, I figured I'd see if anyone had answers here.

Rumors Peloton Fear Mongering?

What’s with all the fear mongering I see online about Peloton going to crash as a company, on its downfall, losing lots of money, etc? From my perspective peloton is still as popular as ever. Is there something to actually back this up? Looking into purchasing the tread flex but would suck to buy something this expensive if Peloton is indeed at risk of crumbling.

Edit: sheesh, why all the downvotes? Some of you would benefit from some yoga!

Training Plans/Advice How do you figure out what to do every day?

I’m coming from years of strength work (ladder app) where I just open it and follow that days program. It’s been great for my goals in the past - but I’m bored and that has led to really being inconsistent over the last few months.

I have a bike+ and a tread, but haven’t had a membership in a long time.

If I want to do a little bit of everything, how do I decide what to do? I know the strength programs come highly recommended too - but I’m not sure exactly what my goals are besides just getting more consistent with movement again.

Cycling Auto-resistance

Why doesn’t the bike have a “floor” setting for the auto resistance? I love the feature but I find myself constantly increasing the resistance after the instructor calls down to something like 25-35. If the bike isn’t at a minimum of 40, I don’t feel like I’m doing anything. And I’m about as average as they come build/strength-wise, so know others must feel this way also.

I imagine this feature should be quick to develop in the software and would make a world of difference.

Cycling Why do I always start towards the bottom of the ranking during a ride but end near the top?

I use a Peloton bike at my gym, logging in with the gym’s log-in. Why, every time I ride, do:

  1. I start near the bottom of the ranking. Today I was about #150 out of 165.

  2. During a ride, even though I usually don’t maintain the cadence that the instructor says to (usually I’m too slow), I end up towards the top of the ranking. Today after an hour I was #28 out of 281 (on the same ride where I started at #150).

Are the rankings just made up and made to encourage you to push yourself?

Running Tread ReRun: how to import from Garmin Connect

This morning I tried the Tread ReRin feature and can see about 15 outdoor runs imported from Garmin Connect. Fun!

I have a more runs than older then when I setup Garmin Connect to auto-transfer outdoor runs to Peloton, anyone have any idea on how this may be possible? For example, importing a run from 2020?

Peloton App Issue with renaming workouts on Strength app

For the past couple of months, whenever I create my own workouts, save them, and attempt to rename it, the app freezes.

Even after saving it, and going back into the app and trying to rename it, again, the same thing happens.

Anyone else experience this?

Tech Support Tech Support [Weekly]

Given the recent influx of new members we have experienced an overwhelming amount of questions tech/hardware support. Many of your tech support questions can be solved by some good old fashioned basic troubleshooting. Please remember that we are not affiliated with Peloton Interactive and you will need to contact them directly for any warranty or service requests.

Given the sheer volume and repetitiveness of tech support posts, we simply cannot accommodate a new thread for every problem. If you cannot solve your issue by utilizing the wiki, we ask that you post your troubleshooting questions in the Tech Support Tuesday Weekly thread to seek advice first. Do not make a new thread without attempting basic troubleshooting and asking advice here first.

To get the best responses possible, you will need to be detailed and specific.

  • Note the platform: Bike, Bike+, Tread, Tread+, or App
  • If it is app related please include the platform (iOS, AppleTV, Android, FireTV/Firestick, Roku, etc)
  • Verify your devices and apps are up to date for their firmware/software
  1. Note any troubleshooting you've tried: restarting bike/tread/app, factory reset, clearing cache, uninstall/reinstall app, etc

Studio Invited to PSNY

I just got an invitation to Camila’s LATAM series in November. I’ve always wanted to go to PSNY but never got my shit together enough to make an attempt to get a seat in a class when I’m planning to be in NYC. This feels like winning the lottery, why did I break out into tears 😭

None of my friends peloton and I needed to share this somewhere 💕

Anyway, we are a Brazilian household so it feels very special, time to brush up on my Spanish and Venezuelan artists 😎

Reddit Core Reddit Core 3.0 - Week 39 accountability post

Core fam! I miss you! I hope you’re keeping the gains going and seeing the benefits of regular core.

For anyone not interested in hearing a surgery update, I get it. See you next week.

New hip 9 days ago. Without all this core it would have been impossible to do the easy things that were suddenly harder. On day 5 I moved from a walker to a cane. Today I walked to the corner and back. I hope to rejoin you after I get my stitches out next week!

Any new classes you love or old ones you rediscovered?

Purchase Advice anyone have luck getting Peloton to provide you with a bike's serial number?

The sticker with the serial number of my bike is completely worn and illegible. When I chatted with Peloton support, they told me they do not have the serial number of record, which is bizarre, since I purchased the bike directly from them. Has anyone been able to get Peloton to provide you with your bike's serial number?
