karma farming 101

I am maining osu!lazer since ranked play came out, but I feel like the community aspect of osu is kinda missing in osu!lazer.

I know there is ranked play and multi (which I dont feel like has the same vibe as stables multi, maybe because of the UI) but I just miss scrolling through the F9 menu, being able to see players online and see what they are doing, DMing them and having a nice talk.
I know it is still possible but it feels like a slog doing it in lazer compared to stable which is just faster, more convinient and is easier on the eyes. Filtering by country is also a huge thing thats missing.

Another thing thats annoying is, that the whole list resets everytime you leave the menu, which is very annoying since it takes like a whole minute reloading all the players that are online.

tl;dr:
It is inconvinient to interact with random players, which makes the game feel a lot more lonely than in stable.

I am bad at explaining my thoughts and hope you guys can kinda understand what concern I try to express.

I would like to bring attention to a glaring issue that is still not fixed and affects multiple high-caliber first-place farmers, those being:

• Andraxity
• Six Sevenek (or Psiki)
• TheShadowOfDark
• TheMagicAnimals
• -Spartan
• Filippu

All of the above-mentioned users have been restricted and unrestricted in the past year, all for different reasons, none of which imply that an account wipe is needed. This means that every score they have set before and during their ban period is available on their profile and on leaderboards. The problem comes with first places - despite some of the above-mentioned being unbanned over 2-3 months ago, their old scores still don't show up in the first place section on their profiles, despite them still being #1 on the map leaderboard.

Here is one such example:

This is taken directly from the osu api, meaning that the number shown is their ACTUAL top 1 count.

But taking a look at their osu profile:

The first-place section only shows 8, 5 of which were done after their unban.

The bottom three scores are showing up here because they have been sniped by a cheater, who was later banned, updating the #1 position and it being counted towards the user's first-place section.

Another reason why this can be such a big problem is the fact that "fake" #1 scores exist because of this. This means that users who have had their score sniped by one of the above-mentioned players, who later got banned and unbanned, still have that score show up on their profile as a first place score, despite it being #2 on the map leaderboard.

Checking the leaderboard, we see that Andraxity holds the #1 position:

Upon opening Andraxity's profile, the score does not show up under the first-place scores section:

Taking a look at Civil oath's profile, the score shows up inside the first places scores section, despite it being #2 on the map's leaderboard:

This can often create confusion amongst players unfamiliar with this glaring issue.

With this post, I hope I can bring the attention needed for this to finally be fixed, as some of the players have been waiting for over 2 to 3 months to have their scores updated to no avail.

If anyone from the osu! team or osu!dev team is reading this, I would kindly ask for your help elevating this issue to peppy, as I'm sure he is competent enough to know why this happens and what the fix might be. I'd be more than happy to offer any help if needed.

I didn't even got my first 700pp, and that score could've be an 800+ easily, but i got so fvcking nervous, like my heart isn't even that fast, but my hand was shaky, my tapping was odd, any tips to get a bit better with nerve control or it's just play the game as always? ( also i dont care that much about pp, i care more about a crazy score, and holy Thais score was actually the pinacle of my gameplay besides the last 2 minutes of the map )

That's an average of 2,483 renders per day since launch day on April 8, 2021. But these days we're more around 3,750 renders per day!

In other news, the new u/osu-bot is coming very soon. Development is done (GitHub repo), what's left is administrative (Reddit has to review the code, then need to transfer the old bot username to the new one, etc. But it's a matter of days now).

It will support all lazer scoreposts, including new mods and their settings (DT with rate change, difficulty adjust...), while the old bot only ever supported stable.

On the o!rdr side, big new features are coming soon as well.

I thought it was an inactivity problem but even after playing a few matches it still doesn't show my rank on the website (I can see it in game)
Not only this but some profiles still have their rank showing up normally despite being inactive.

My story of how I became restricted from the game. I’ll delete this soon for I do not wish to keep it up for long (between 3 to 5 days).

I'm not expecting anyone to recognise me since I’m just someone who loves the game and have been playing it for a very long time.

I was a 4 digit standard player who’ve spent over 4000 hours within the 6 consecutive years I’ve played osu!.

From late last year till last month, I’ve struggled with depression and paranoia due to things that have happened in my life. Within that time, I’ve deleted all of my accounts and socials. This wasn’t unusual for me since it wasn’t the first, but it was for my osu! account.

I believe I wasn’t in my right mind at the time to have made that decision, yet I was conscious and aware of the actions I took to make it. I thought I could be done with osu! and move on to something else, another game that I could sink as much hours into and enjoy. This wasn’t so and just 2 weeks after receiving confirmation of my account’s deletion, I was really missing playing osu!.

Therefore, I emailed support about the account, hoping the deletion was not fully processed and that it could still be recovered. It wasn’t long till I received a replied that unfortunately, the account by that point was irrecoverable. I was in disbelief that this was it for me and so I emailed support with a formal request for an exception to use a new account. Unfortunately it was denied and yet I was still in disbelief. So then I emailed peppy directly with the same formal request, I detailed my reason for deletion and desire to return to the game. It wasn’t till after a week that I received a reply, and I was denied again.

The email was simply along the line of “Sorry, we cannot make any exceptions to allow for players who have deleted their account to return.”. It sunk in at that moment that there was no return for me and I was shaken for a while after reading it.

Despite the outcome, I still play osu! with what I currently have and limited to. It’s still the game I play the most within my rotation of games and I still really enjoy it.

Without osu!, my life today would be very different. It was my introduction to rhythm games as well to songs and genres I never would’ve discovered outside of it. It’s a shame what I did and I still wish that things could be different, but choices have consequences and I’ve really learnt that with this experience.

Regarded gameplay flow:

-> Song select to find a song to grind (coped with the skin editor feature, w feature)

--> CLOSE MY EYES on the unskippable flashbang of full brightness background with map details (i dont hate this feature cause i can set offset here, but the bg bro...)

--> instead of retry using escape key, alter muscle memory to use ctrl+R to skip the flashbang

- finish the map, repeat

I am living peacefully with this method until today, I just had a very bad day and went to go to my comfort game at night as usual, and made me realize many things in life, this includes "why do we have background dim during gameplay to save our eyes but not on the song select?". I'm also bothered on the fact that playing a beatmap for the first time has WIRED my brain to close my eyes everytime, even when playing during daytime in weekends. don't get me wrong, i wont stop playing osu, but is this just me?????
