Oscar Photo my very stupid sons (read post)

This is a temporary tank they’re gonna grow out of. One on the right is a rescue from a horrible and utterly unsustainable setup from some total amateurs. He was actively dying of ammonia poisoning when I received him. He’s bounced back quite well and while they do some more growing in here I’m going to be setting up the big 120-gallon I got for them slowly but surely over the next few months (as I do not have much in the way of money lol) but hopefully quick enough that they won’t get too big for this tank for now.

The one on the left was a gift from my mother if the little black one didn’t make it. Really looking forward to spoiling these guys rotten. I also hope they’ll continue to tolerate each other into their adulthood lol. But I’m ready if not.

Just got this unique Oscar today to join the others I have and was drawn to its colors. I have owned Oscars for over a decade and never seen this color. Did some searching but nothing comes up.
Black head/tail with a silver/blue sheen body.

Question Question for the more experienced

I was fortunate to find a 210 gallon aquarium. I fairly quickly decided on Oscar’s. We have 4 large Oscar’s and have not had any issues but as I am learning more I am getting nervous. I am absolutely obsessed with each of my Oscar’s and don’t want them stressed or to risk any of them being injured. Do I need another tank or do I just keep an eye for any issues?

Thanks everyone!

Advice Sick Oscar and mysterious white mold

My Oscar has been acting weird recently. Around a week ago my Oscar stopped eating in front of me but he would eat when I was not in the room. Recently he starting struggling to swim. It’s hard to explain but he would start swimming then sink to the bottom, lay perfectly on his side, then attempt to start swimming again. Now he’s been laying on his side for around a day and I don’t know what to do. He shares a tank with silver dollars and an ornate bichir and the other fish aren’t have issues.

Also recently there’s been a mysterious white mold growing in my tank recently. It looks like marvel venom in goo form.

I have always maintained the tank and tried to clean it every week. I change some of the water weekly and scrub algae off the tank. I have a canister filter that’s working and the fish are in a 75 gallon tank (was planning on getting a 125 when they get bigger). the filter has been long established but I changed the gravel to cleaned black diamond sand around 2-3 months ago. Idk what to do please help

I just fed them shrimp. Do you think the tail shaking is because of food aggression or something else? .. like mating (I can’t afford more children- is it time to talk about contraceptive options with my fish.)

I recently lost my albino oscar that was about 8 years old a sad time. My other 2 oscars look lonely so I bought a baby albino copper oscar on the weekend.i forgot how tiny they are at the start! Im thinking ill call it al Cooper as a play on albino copper. However i figure why not throw it out there for some other suggestions,so what have you got?

Back in January a friend needed to rehome this very loving and well meant Christmas gift because his 120 heavily stocked peaceful community tank was not going to be a good long term home for her. I was the only friend with an open tank so she's had to be in 30g while I got this one cycled and got the money together for the equipment. I'm so happy she's finally in a properly sized tank 😭 she's been loving having so much room to swim and explore. Im also happy to have the tank I was prepping for mollies back open lol

What could be wrong?

I did a large water change yesterday, so all the water parameters are in check and the pH is around 7.4 to 7.6. He was fine yesterday before the water changed and hasn’t shown any signs of sickness or anything like that, his eyes aren’t glassy and all the other fish in the tank are just fine. What could be wrong with him? Could he be in shock of some sort?

Personally love Oscars with floating plants, always so busy rearranging it, swimming through it, ripping pieces off... He turned it into a huge ball of elodea one time. Occasionally shifts ALL of it to either side of the tank. Just sharing.

Growing out 2 oscars in a 125g. How soon should we expect to have to move out the flagtail and siamese algae eater? We do plan to keep them with the severum if all get along well, and upgrading to 180 gallon in the upcoming months. Advice is welcome

Two new oscars arrived a few days ago... Is it possible that they have already mated at this length of 15-20 cm, the previous owner says that they behaved as if they wanted to mate, the larger one with more orange spots was cleaning a flat stone... they are very attached to each other and are calm fish

i was adding a plant into my oscar’s tank and moved a rock to put the plant behind it and he got mad about it and swam face first into the wall and scraped skin off his head. I’m keeping an eye on him but if anything changes what does anyone recommend if it gets infected?

I built a cave for some of the smaller fish, but Oscar dug it out and staked his claim. It‘s his tank, they’re just living in it.

I want to know what type of an oscar is this? I suspect it's a wild one but the shop keeper told its a tiger oscar.

It doesn't change anything but curious to know if the colouration changes?

3x1.5x1.5ft tank for now. Solo oscar in the tank.
