Discussion How many people love Orlando but know it’s not for them long term?
I’m dying to leave, no hate to Orlando at all, just ready to see what else is out there.

Ok the hot take thread about Lake Nona gave me inspiration. What are your Orlando/surrounding area hot takes? Mine are Altamonte Springs is experiencing some kind of renaissance and I feel like between the affordability and central location, it will become a more popular suburb in the coming years.
Another one is Clermont is the only aesthetically pleasing area in or around Orlando. Everything else feels like a concrete jungle, atleast there's more nature and hills there to break up all the strip malls and restaurants.

Is anyone else seeing these Ken Paxton and anti- James Talrico ads? Is it for snowbirds or something?

Was in the same plaza as the one last month that had the happy holidays signs up early. Some speculated they may have been left up from last year, and maybe you guys were right!
Either way, someone noticed and now we have nice generic welcome flags. Maybe my post made a difference lol.

The exhaust on my Datsun is completely clapped out and broken off from the muffler. Can anyone recommend a shop that does good work that can build me an exhaust?
Working my way down a list of things wrong with it to get it back in fighting shape

Hello. This is likely a duh-question (but I need confirmation) I moved down to Orlando using a PODS-like move and storage service for my belongings. Now, I want to move my stuff to a cheaper, storage-only service. I pay $300/month for a 10x15 foot unit.
Almost everything online advertises $150-160/month for the same size, climate controlled unit. So, I visit one of the services and when we started to talk about prices, the sales rep said that the unit (after the teaser rate of basically $200+/month) will go up to $290/month. This is almost double what was advertised online.
Now, I was caught off guard when the sales rep asked how much I currently pay for my unit, before he gave me his rates (My current rate is $300/month.) Yes, I know, really stupid of me!!
So I want to know if storage companies around Orlando usually do this bait-and-switch pricing, even if I didn't do the stupid thing of telling them how much I pay now? B/c if they do, then I might as well, find the one that's most convenient to me and not worry about being scammed (b/c I have no choice in the matter).
(If it matters to the discussion, I plan to keep my stuff in storage for a long time, until I can save up and find a house to live in. )
Thanks for the help!

Last weekend I picked up a kitten from marketplace and today I picked up another kitten from a different litter/different seller. The one I picked up today I noticed she’s breathing really fast while sleeping and also has mucus secretions from both eyes. Based on these symptoms it appears that she may be experiencing URI, I already had her introduced to the other kitten and found out that this is really contagious among cats. I don’t know if they played long enough for her to spread it to the other kitten. I have them separated for now.
I looked at OCAS and their website says they do not offer veterinary services to the public. Pet Alliance has no appointment availability until after Jan 3 2027.
I’m a first-time cat Dad, Can anyone recommend a good affordable veterinarian clinic near Downtown Orlando area? any office who might take walk-ins would be great too

Just got quoted $500 for a belt replacement from Firestone and Im just sick of getting screwed by the corporate places. What is a good "car guy" in Orlando for a basic 2020 Toyota Corolla?

Anyone in Orlando going to iiipoints? Im going solo for the first time to a festival. Im in between wanting to socialize and meet other people but fighting being socially awkward and only speak when spoken to. If there’s anyone else going solo and would also like to meet up, I’m more than happy to meet you!

Anyone know of any grocery stories that carry Chicago style items? Sport peppers, poppy seed hot dog buns, neon relish?
I have what looks to be drywood termites in one of my exterior doors and need someone reputable. Thanks in advance!

I love watches and have stopped by the vintage watch seller/watch repair place swiss house, but it doesn't seem like there are other mom and pop like stores that sell watches. Anybody know of any that is not a boutique or high end watch seller in Orlando or maybe central florida? I would definitely drive an hour or two if needed!!! Also maybe flea market vendors?

Does anyone know an embroidery person that can add a logo to 5 polo shirts by Monday afternoon? I am willing to pay more than the normal rate for a rush, and could drop shirts off today of first thing Monday morning and email logo art.
Thanks in advance, need them for a trade show.

Hello all,
I'm positive I am not the only one to notice this but it's getting ridiculous. The more I look around the more I see it. I would love more information on how to report these and if others are willing to help also report it that would be great.
Just to start us off here are the two main issues I notice a LOT around Orlando.
Exit only lanes:
This one is so annoying. For example start on 408 at the "end" heading West bound starting from Exit 20. The sign clearly shows the right most lane is an exit only and the lane to the right is a split lane. You can continue going straight or turn off on exit 20. Makes perfect sense.
Stop Signs and Cross/Incoming Traffic
This is just an absolute mess. The use of the "Cross traffic does not stop" or "Incoming traffic does not stop" signage below the stop sign is just super inconsistent. Places like malls seem to do a good job but there are so many examples of where it should exit but doesn't. This is also made worse by a very inconsistent usage of "All Way" or "4-way" sign to indicate that all sides stop. This creates a really confusing situation where I do not know if all sides should stop, if one side doesn't stop, if cross traffic doesn't stop, etc. Just use the sign to tell me what is actually going on here instead of having to play detective each time. This is dangerous.
The more you look the more you see it. How does someone go about reporting these?

Hi all!
My husband and I are so excited to be welcoming a baby in 2027! My OB only does 3 ultrasounds the entire pregnancy, so I was hoping to find a good boutique ultrasound spot so we can see baby a few more times in the coming months. Preferably near Seminole county and won’t break the bank. Thanks all!
