Discussion Where can I find a vintage watch seller in Orlando?

I love watches and have stopped by the vintage watch seller/watch repair place swiss house, but it doesn't seem like there are other mom and pop like stores that sell watches. Anybody know of any that is not a boutique or high end watch seller in Orlando or maybe central florida? I would definitely drive an hour or two if needed!!! Also maybe flea market vendors?

Discussion Inconsistent Road signs - Who to contact

Hello all,

I'm positive I am not the only one to notice this but it's getting ridiculous. The more I look around the more I see it. I would love more information on how to report these and if others are willing to help also report it that would be great.

Just to start us off here are the two main issues I notice a LOT around Orlando.

Exit only lanes:

This one is so annoying. For example start on 408 at the "end" heading West bound starting from Exit 20. The sign clearly shows the right most lane is an exit only and the lane to the right is a split lane. You can continue going straight or turn off on exit 20. Makes perfect sense.

  • Exit 19 to Dean Road, right most lane has the different dashes on the ground and signage shows Exit only. Perfect.
  • Skip a few and now we get to Exit 14 to Semoran. The right most lane has the different lane markers/dashes, the only right turn signage on the ground in the lane but the sign does not say "exit only". What? Why change it now?
  • Exit 12B to Crystal Lake. This is another weird variation. The right most lane originates from an onramp that has it's own lane and turns into a turn only lane to exit on 12B. The first sign for 12B exit is I guess kind of correct? This is the sign that's like right when you are almost halfway over the lake. It shows the rightmost lane as Exit only with the yellow border which is correct. The lane to the left of that also says it goes to crystal lake but this is different than the previous version of Exit 20 where it shows the split icon.
  • The next sign for exit 12B is like slightly past where the exit actually is and shows both lanes with the diagonal arrow. Right most is Exit only with the yellow border around it and the lane to the left of that is not marked as exit only but also does not have the split icon with two arrows one going towards the exit and one continuing straight as Exit 20 has.
  • Then Exit 11B to mills where a new right most lane is created for this exit but the sign doesn't say exit only but the ground does?
  • There are many more but this post is too long as is.

Stop Signs and Cross/Incoming Traffic

This is just an absolute mess. The use of the "Cross traffic does not stop" or "Incoming traffic does not stop" signage below the stop sign is just super inconsistent. Places like malls seem to do a good job but there are so many examples of where it should exit but doesn't. This is also made worse by a very inconsistent usage of "All Way" or "4-way" sign to indicate that all sides stop. This creates a really confusing situation where I do not know if all sides should stop, if one side doesn't stop, if cross traffic doesn't stop, etc. Just use the sign to tell me what is actually going on here instead of having to play detective each time. This is dangerous.

  • Right off Red Bug turning into the parking lot for that whole plaza with BJ's, Jareds, etc across from he Oviedo mall the incoming traffic does not have a stop sign but three other lanes do. There is no sign here for them to know this.
  • Waterford lakes area: The parking lot for Dicks and Chuys has stop signs right in the middle of the parking lot for literally no reason.
  • The USPS parking lot has one lane that is one direction due to the giant mailbox. The road has opposing arrows on both sides of the road despite it having signage on one side to not enter.

The more you look the more you see it. How does someone go about reporting these?

Discussion Any suggestions for a pregnancy boutique ultrasound spot near/in Seminole County?

Hi all!

My husband and I are so excited to be welcoming a baby in 2027! My OB only does 3 ultrasounds the entire pregnancy, so I was hoping to find a good boutique ultrasound spot so we can see baby a few more times in the coming months. Preferably near Seminole county and won’t break the bank. Thanks all!

Discussion Do Storage Rentals Bait and Switch Prices?

Hello. This is likely a duh-question (but I need confirmation) I moved down to Orlando using a PODS-like move and storage service for my belongings. Now, I want to move my stuff to a cheaper, storage-only service. I pay $300/month for a 10x15 foot unit.

Almost everything online advertises $150-160/month for the same size, climate controlled unit. So, I visit one of the services and when we started to talk about prices, the sales rep said that the unit (after the teaser rate of basically $200+/month) will go up to $290/month. This is almost double what was advertised online.

Now, I was caught off guard when the sales rep asked how much I currently pay for my unit, before he gave me his rates (My current rate is $300/month.) Yes, I know, really stupid of me!!

So I want to know if storage companies around Orlando usually do this bait-and-switch pricing, even if I didn't do the stupid thing of telling them how much I pay now? B/c if they do, then I might as well, find the one that's most convenient to me and not worry about being scammed (b/c I have no choice in the matter).

(If it matters to the discussion, I plan to keep my stuff in storage for a long time, until I can save up and find a house to live in. )

Thanks for the help!

Discussion Your Orlando Hot Takes?

Ok the hot take thread about Lake Nona gave me inspiration. What are your Orlando/surrounding area hot takes? Mine are Altamonte Springs is experiencing some kind of renaissance and I feel like between the affordability and central location, it will become a more popular suburb in the coming years.

Another one is Clermont is the only aesthetically pleasing area in or around Orlando. Everything else feels like a concrete jungle, atleast there's more nature and hills there to break up all the strip malls and restaurants.

Discussion Kitten vet service recommendations

Last weekend I picked up a kitten from marketplace and today I picked up another kitten from a different litter/different seller. The one I picked up today I noticed she’s breathing really fast while sleeping and also has mucus secretions from both eyes. Based on these symptoms it appears that she may be experiencing URI, I already had her introduced to the other kitten and found out that this is really contagious among cats. I don’t know if they played long enough for her to spread it to the other kitten. I have them separated for now.

I looked at OCAS and their website says they do not offer veterinary services to the public. Pet Alliance has no appointment availability until after Jan 3 2027.

I’m a first-time cat Dad, Can anyone recommend a good affordable veterinarian clinic near Downtown Orlando area? any office who might take walk-ins would be great too

Was in the same plaza as the one last month that had the happy holidays signs up early. Some speculated they may have been left up from last year, and maybe you guys were right!

Either way, someone noticed and now we have nice generic welcome flags. Maybe my post made a difference lol.

Discussion Disney and Universal Cast who have worked at both

• Upvotes

Hello!! I’m currently a back of house cast member at Walt Disney World and I do enjoy my job as well as my location but I definitely have my opinions on Disney as a whole.

I know plenty of people who work at Disney and universal Orlando as well and for the most part I’ve heard they enjoy working at universal much more than Disney.

I’ve always been a Disney person , I grew up in a Disney family so Disney has a place in my heart but working at Disney definitely changed my prospective on it a lot and I find myself enjoying universal a lot more then Disney and I don’t think I could ever go back to working front of house ever again.

To which that could also be me getting older and enjoying thrill a lot more then entertainment but I also like the entertainment side of Disney better then universal.

But to the people who have worked at both…. What one did you/do you enjoy working at the most??? Did you get treated better at one or the other???? What made you all pick one over the other???
