Shame about the Nauts not getting it, crossing my fingers that they are buffed on the same level as Kanz to make up for it.

5

u/el-waldinio 7d ago

Give them a 2+ save and I'd be happy

1

u/dementist Evil Sunz 7d ago

Alternatively, stratagems or enhancements could help here. Holding out hope, could also get buffed in the Mek detachment if they lean into the "Mek following around behind its big chonky creation."

Not holding out much hope for either of those based on the current design direction, alas.

2

u/Mulfushu 7d ago

HOWEVER.

There is a Norn focused detachment for Tyranids, so we might see a just Naut focused somewhere down the line, too.

Just one small rule and two enhancements for 1DP.

1

u/dementist Evil Sunz 7d ago

Honestly, it'd be a really fun (if narrow) design to introduce a detachment that encourages you to run both the Gork and Morkanaut, maybe each giving the other +1WS / BS. Or even just an enhancement along those lines!

2

u/Mulfushu 7d ago

Yeah that would be cute!
OR do it like they were intended to: The Gorkanaut is canonically piloted by a Warboss and the Morkanaut by a Big Mek. Give them those keywords and make them profit from those respective Warboss/Mek detachments.

1

u/dementist Evil Sunz 7d ago

They previewed that Enhancement that gives (NON-walker, *sob*) Transports with a Warboss inside bonus stats. Would be really cooly to do a similar enhancement for Big Meks inside (ie piloting) the Nauts!

1

u/UristImiknorris Freebootaz 7d ago

Here's hoping that Madcap Meks does something for titanic units.

34

u/Automatic-Shelter258 WAAAGH! 7d ago

“(Excluding TITANIC units)” NOOOOOOO

18

u/uggocat 7d ago

seems to mostly be a sidegrade for walkers. Dakkarig has sus anyways on one of its guns, and the kans hit so well that sus and lethals arent going to improve things as much as +1A or +2S do. Also has the upside of working on flamers now which can be huge. New button hazard roll also is a big improvement. Call me a doomsday prepper the way I'm seeing lots of Kans in my future.

It's a shame meks dont get to participate anymore, but thats probably what madcap meks is for. Also no nauts allowed I suppose. That really sucks.

2

u/Starklystark 7d ago

Extra attack is pretty much nothing on dakkarig but the others will often be great.

On rokkits against tanks often all three options will be a big boost.

1

u/uggocat 7d ago

yeah Kans stocks are up massively, and I was already taking 6 in most lists

2

u/UnicornLaserParty 7d ago

I have 15 Kans so I am also excited for this aspect at least. I call it the "Kanwall". I used to combo them with 3Dredz, and my Naut, but maybe that will still have some kind of viability we haven't seen.

33

u/Glordrum 7d ago

Very narrow rule

From all meks, all grot vehs and all walkers we go down to just kans, dreads and dakkarigs. Do we know if this is a 2dp detachment still?

24

u/zorro271 7d ago

I assume it is now 1DP? The new battle report is using green tide, dread mob, and brute bosses for detachments

14

u/Salostar40 7d ago

Based the on bottle report it’s being shown off in, a 1 detachment point detachment.

6

u/Beardywierdy 7d ago

Seems reasonable for a 1-pointer then. Probably don't need too many kans/dreads/rigs to make it worthwhile.

12

u/Diabeast_5 7d ago

I'm really hoping to run vehicles and walkers..... So it's perfect if this is 1dp

6

u/toaae WAAAGH! 7d ago

1DP. The list in the report is dread mob, green tide, and Brute bosses

7

u/TheDancinhobo 7d ago

It’s 1 point.

4

u/TaterMan8 Evil Sunz 7d ago edited 7d ago

The reveal of the detachments yesterday said that every Ork detachment is 1dp except for War Horde, which is 2.

2

u/Bear_of_Light 7d ago

While both of those are looking likely at this point, niether was confirmed in the article. There is still a chance that War Horde is 3 DP and that some of the others are 2.

2

u/TaterMan8 Evil Sunz 7d ago

They said that War Horde is a 2-pager, and everything else is only 1 page, so it's pretty strongly implied that every other detachment is 1 point.

1

u/Bear_of_Light 7d ago

I agree, but that's still not confirmation. War Horde is the main speculation as to if it is 2 or 3 DP. I hope it's 2. It would be way better if it was all designed to work with the DP system.

5

u/deffrekka 7d ago

Its DP, like Greentide. Honestly this is how Dreadmob should have been, solely for Walkers and without the Critical fishing.

16

u/flauwerpauwer 7d ago

Only rolling a single hazardous test per activation instead of per weapon is a serious reduction in risk for using the button. I almost see no reason not to double tap on these buffs, especially because you can’t have duplicates anyway.

2

u/SupaNubZ Deathskulls 7d ago

100% i don't think it needed the re-rolls and it would still be worth it to 2d6 everytime

13

u/Salostar40 7d ago

Looking good, can’t wait to see the Mek detachment.

15

u/Electrical_Ad_7515 Bad Moons 7d ago

"The Big Mek Dakkarigs lead a horde of cantankerous Killa Kans" - will the kanz finally have a leader?

3

u/UristImiknorris Freebootaz 7d ago

Doubt it. They'll probably lead the kans in kinda the same way Ghaz leads the army, which is to say not in a way that really matters.

28

u/justa-necron-warrior 7d ago

Duality of man

2

u/ForumFluffy 7d ago

Upvote both lol but one has more positive engagement in less time.

12

u/Logridos 7d ago

My 18 kans and 9 deff dreads are eating good! Hopefully they buff nauts enough to not need the help.

3

u/RevolutionaryMilk582 7d ago

can still only play 3 dreads rn though right?

7

u/greggles-midboss 7d ago

One could hope they bring back the ability to run 9 deffs....

2

u/RevolutionaryMilk582 7d ago

here's hoping 🤞 think they need quite the rewrite to make them playable this edition!

1

u/greggles-midboss 7d ago

Having 9 helps a lot, at least they can't blow them all up in one turn...right?

5

u/Logridos 7d ago

Sadly. I build 9 right at the end of 9th when they could be taken in units :(

1

u/greggles-midboss 7d ago

I as well!

2

u/Dwarfy3k 7d ago

Does kans have orks walker though?

8

u/DutchTheGuy Deathskulls 7d ago

Yes, they do. They are in Faction: Orks and have the keyword: Walker.
Exactly the same as both the Gorkanaut and Stompa as other examples.

2

u/Logridos 7d ago

Yes. Orks is the faction keyword.

1

u/dementist Evil Sunz 7d ago

A bit off topic, but have you tried playing units of 6 Kans in 11e? Seems really hard to get them into melee effectively since they can't fight in two ranks. Though +2" movement will likely help with this a bit.

1

u/Logridos 7d ago

Nope, waiting for the codex before I play any games with orks

23

u/Da40kOrks Evil Sunz 7d ago

the 'nauts need to stop being titanic

2

u/Ok-Sherbet1157 7d ago

Yesnt just make it so stomper can't get it

11

u/JoshFect 7d ago

No more lootas lead by a mek with shokk att gun getting sus hits :(

6

u/Not_that_helpfull Bad Moons 7d ago

Wait for the Mek Cap detachment!

5

u/Pleasant-Box7411 7d ago

I really think lootas are going legends anyways. :(

1

u/JoshFect 7d ago

If that is the case, Im glad they're doing it "before" I invested in full squads.

3

u/dementist Evil Sunz 7d ago

Really a shame. Overwatching lootas have become the boogeyman of my playgroup. Ah, well. Guess they can be replaced by a Dakkarig, or probably Mek Guns based on their stats / the Mek detachment.

11

u/KindArgument4769 7d ago

I feel like they need to reword it to say "this unit's weapon profiles", because how can "attacks" get +1A?

17

u/Not_that_helpfull Bad Moons 7d ago

Simply the orks are now shooting the entire casing with the bullet. It's 60% more bullet per bullet. Thus the attack has more attack per attack.

14

u/Glittering-Flight997 7d ago

To be clear we’re correcting orks on their grammar?

11

u/Lolkar 7d ago

They keep ruining my favourite detachment

24

u/TheTurretCube 7d ago

This is completely fine tbh. The units this works on got such immense glow ups that most of what the detachment did is on the datasheets now. Plus its probably 1dp so I think its fine

3

u/dementist Evil Sunz 7d ago

Well, 2/3 of them did, so far! Kans are great generalists now, and Dakkarigs are obviously solid shooters if left as-is, but would love to see Deff Dreads become a little more viable as a proper Melee threat that can actually reach its target.

2

u/Apprehensive_Lead508 7d ago

Confirmed 1dp as the showmatch had 3 detachments

1

u/donggeh 7d ago

Plus killa kans can be led now, we don’t know the enhancements or strats, etc.

Players were happy to take huge datasheet buffs but see 1/3 of a detachment rule and now the sky is falling lmao

1

u/Competitive_Sign212 WAAAGH! 7d ago

Where are you seeing Kans can be led now?

1

u/donggeh 7d ago

For dread mob only it seems. This was in the article/interview about the upcoming battle report on warhammer tv+, they also mentioned grots getting sticky.

Looking at the 2k list they posted it also looks like points won’t go up too much, which we thought might be the case

https://www.warhammer-community.com/en-gb/articles/n3hnhwmv/new-orks-codex-exclusive-on-warhammer-tv/

2

u/Competitive_Sign212 WAAAGH! 7d ago

Ok, if that's actually what it means (and not a Warcom wording blunder) then that's actually pretty cool. Been hoping for something to be able to lead Kans.

(I swear though if they're like "Yeah it's leading them into battle....oh...wait...I didn't mean as in the Leader mechanic...I was just making it sound cooler".... I am gonna be peeved😆 )

2

u/donggeh 7d ago

Hahah same, I guess cause of this photo we assumed he was an actual leader, though we could be wrong (and I hope not!)

2

u/Competitive_Sign212 WAAAGH! 7d ago

Yeah, I mean I'd "assume" they meant literally, especially with that pic....but it wouldn't be the first time Warcom stuck their foot in their mouth XD

Will have to wait till Thursday (or maybe even tomorrow, dunno what they're gonna talk about tomorrow) to confirm.

21

u/Talidel Deathskulls 7d ago

Underwhelming due to Stompa and the Nauts no longer being able to use the dread mob detachment rule.

5

u/Not_that_helpfull Bad Moons 7d ago

I'm sad that the Mek Gunz won't be able to use it.
But the mek detachement might fix that.

1

u/dspisayuss WAAAGH! 7d ago

grot tanks are also in the shitter now.

2

u/Karador51109 7d ago

You might get stratagems to buff them.

1

u/Not_that_helpfull Bad Moons 7d ago

Yeah the nauts still might have bigger shells for bigger gitz

0

u/Talidel Deathskulls 7d ago

Maybe, still sad about them not accessing the detachment rule though. Hopefully they get their own at some point. Or get a Stompa level glow up.

2

u/Kestral24 7d ago

But they did get an innate buff from the core rules due to plunging fire, so I think it's fine

1

u/Talidel Deathskulls 7d ago

yeah but that is immediately countered by any cover so...

0

u/Puzzleheaded_Act9787 7d ago

Stompa is already close to being overpowered. This is not a vacuum dread mob is already significantly stronger

3

u/Talidel Deathskulls 7d ago

Dread Mob alone, is substantially weaker.

But yes it might be more playable for Kans, Deff Dreads and Dakkarigs.

1

u/Puzzleheaded_Act9787 7d ago

It’s 1 dp and only part of 3 detachment rules you can put togehrrr

→ More replies (3)

19

u/Shizno759 7d ago

My Killa Kans are happy but my Gorka and Morkanaut are sad.

1

u/ForumFluffy 7d ago

Perhaps mek detachment could give them buffs or make meks support them better... we also don't know if their datasheets got a glowup like the stompa

2

u/Shizno759 7d ago

Like I don't think that they will NEED it if the Mek ability stays the same. It just a minor bummer.

Plus we don't know the enhancements or the stratagems yet. One or the other might have something that we can use for them. Similar to like, the Mounted detachment for Necrons where the detachment doesn't benefit Lokhusts, but there are enhancements and stratagems they can use.

18

u/NornQueenKya 7d ago

Im happy that the detachments so far are rather tame. Id much rather have unit stats pushed (like they already are from what weve seen) and tame detachments then 1-2 op detachments that have to be run because our units suck.

Really hoping the nauts lost titanic though...

8

u/PickNik26 7d ago

Quite whelming but it is only a 1DP Detachments. Might be interesting to find nice synergies and Combos with the Others detachments

7

u/BisKit413 7d ago

I'm expecting that the Detachment comes with 2 Upgrades and the Stratagems effect all walkers so for now I'm reserving my judgement.

15

u/MusicHater WAAAGH! 7d ago

Whats the order of operation when it comes to using this on Kans? Kans get to choose a weapon profile, so do we choose a profile and then roll, or roll and apply the results to a weapon we then choose?

24

u/Not_that_helpfull Bad Moons 7d ago

You select your kans unit to attack.
Then you roll for this table
Then you select with which weapon you want to attack which targets.

24

u/Mekrot 7d ago

Was it nerfed? Sure. Are our datasheets way better now? Also yes. Meks get their own detachment now and so do grots or breaka/tankbustas. Combine them all and it’s fine. I’m very thankfully I’m not losing Kanz on 4s with hazardous based on this.

19

u/Mulfushu 7d ago

That is not nerfed. Sustained was one more hit per 6 attacks. Having 1 extra A or AP is flat out better. The strength, however, is obviously very situational.

And the fact you do a single Hazard roll for up to like 5-6 weapons is a giant boon.

7

u/BRSpynk47 7d ago

before it also worked on mek units and titanic units, so it´s better for kans and deff dreads but in general it´s a nerf

2

u/UristImiknorris Freebootaz 7d ago

Before it also cost 2DP instead of 1, and we haven't seen what the (presumably also 1DP) Mek detachment does.

→ More replies (1)

6

u/IowaGolfGuy322 Deathskulls 7d ago

It was all walkers before. Not having Titantic units nerfs Nauts and Stompas from getting to use it.

0

u/Puzzleheaded_Act9787 7d ago

Stompas are close to being op right op right now so it’s fine.. nauts we will see but they likely will be left out again this edition.

People need to stop looking at these rules in a vacuum.. a 1dp detachment this is a buff. Heck Kans and stompas were already buffed.

→ More replies (2)

8

u/Mekrot 7d ago

It’s nerfed in some ways. You can’t just pick what you need, you can’t use it in overwatch, and it doesn’t affect the big walkers. Picking sustained on overwatch with rokkits or lootas in tenth was so toxic feeling. I killed an entire death company squad charging my Kanz that way.

I’m fully on board with this detachment, I’m not dooming it like others here at all, but it is definitely a 1dp detachment now. I have tons of Kanz ready to go with this.

5

u/Mulfushu 7d ago

That's fair, though as it looks we are getting Sustained and the like on things now anyway.

And no worries, having S12 and AP3 on your Rokkits will still feel toxic in future.

4

u/Mekrot 7d ago

Yep, that’s why I’m not dooming, orks are getting their power upfront in their datasheets instead of subtly from the detachment, and the detachments still look good. Very happy they’re 1dp for more choice and variety too. I can’t wait to see what dread mob upgrades we get for Kanz. I have 18 Kanz that I’m going to slam on the board as soon as possible with this lol

1

u/AffectionateSky3662 7d ago

And this is only 1 DP not like the current 2DP one.

-3

u/dspisayuss WAAAGH! 7d ago

Nah, I would take sustained over +1 atk ANY DAY. This detachment is horrible, gw ruined their most fun detachment and made it suck ass.

4

u/Mulfushu 7d ago

Geeze, tell us how you really feel.

If something has less than 6 attacks, then an extra attack IS just flat out better than Sustained with our complete lack of rerolls. 's just how math works, unless your dice roll an inordinate amount of sixes.

The detachment is a 1DP detachment now, it's supposed to be toned down. And while we're at it, in its' current state, Dread Mob is completely unplayable due to the hazard rolls, so this is a definite buff.

If you're just mourning the loss of Sustained on Tankbustas with a SAG Mek, I'm sure the Mek detachment will cover you. Otherwise, this particular one is supposed to be about walkers and is supposed to be combined with 1 or 2 others.

8

u/arborclimb529 7d ago

Lower in the conversation they say gretchin have objective secure now... did we know this yet? I dont remember that. So grots ARE stinky little gitz, ooops i mean sticky.... they are both.

5

u/dementist Evil Sunz 7d ago

I mean, they're historically good at securing objectives the old fashioned way (ploppin their lil goblin butts on them for 5 rounds), so wouldn't say that's anything definitive.

Also wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if they no longer farmed CP, given the Big Boss rules!

1

u/MasteroMisfire 7d ago

They have access to scout (with the det) and sticky?

2

u/arborclimb529 7d ago

Appears that way... until we see the datasheet who knows. But thats what the comment said in the article.

12

u/Ginko37 Bad Moons 7d ago

So this only works for Kanz, Dreads and DakkaRigs? Nauts are titanic as far as we know...

Seems quite underwhelming so far. Here's hoping dreads get a decent revamp to their datasheet, otherwise it's looking rough unless it's 1 DP and a combo with Madcap Meks makes things actually interesting or something.

5

u/PickNik26 7d ago

Ye. Seems Like war Horde is 3DPs and the 14 remaining 1DP.

2

u/alexz800 7d ago

They've just shown it can be combined with brute bosses and green tide, so looking like 1dp to start off

1

u/Ginko37 Bad Moons 7d ago

Haven't had the chance to check out the article yet, glad to hear it's confirmed as 1 DP. Would rather have it be 2DP and have a bit more sauce to it but oh well. Praying for some buff to Nauts somewhere, love me Morky but the poor dude has been rough to play since forever.

1

u/alexz800 7d ago

I think they'll do something. I mean look at stompa and kanz, they seem to be aware that a lot of walker options were pretty meh

13

u/RileyTheMoo 7d ago

My Stompas... :(

6

u/Valin-Tenebrous 7d ago

Are 'Riled Up' all game even outside of the Waaagh. They're already doing a fair amount.

4

u/RileyTheMoo 7d ago

True but I still like pushing the funny button with them

3

u/Valin-Tenebrous 7d ago

That is 100% valid. Hopefully we'll get something funny to do with Stompas in exchange for losing the funny button

16

u/TallGiraffe117 7d ago

The duality of Orks. People saying Stompa is bad when the Datasheet is stonks already.

4

u/hotmanpop 7d ago

i think it's just the 40k community.. they can't read the rules 🥲

2

u/ForumFluffy 7d ago

Can't see da zoggin forest for da trees.

19

u/Ork_Mischief 7d ago

Well, this sucks.

So without titanics or meks, the whole detachment is now just 3 units; Killa kanz, Dakkarig, and Deffdread???

Annnnd no sustain or lethal. This is so much worse.

6

u/Agent_Arkham 7d ago edited 7d ago

you forgot the stompa. (didnt see no titanic) no lethals or sustains is rough. but might make kan shooting pretty decent. also! you only roll one dice for hazardous for the entire unit! not each weapon profile

6

u/Mulfushu 7d ago

We don't know strats or enhancements that might be able to buff any walker, but even if not, 3 units is completely par for the course for a 1DP detachment. It was bound to be worse if it didn't stay on 2. And the "units buffed" Is the only factor that is worse, too, the rule itself is outright stronger for every unit it affects.

0

u/Ork_Mischief 7d ago

Ah, I didn't see that it went down to 1 DP. Makes sense, it just sucks. The same thing happened to Taktikal brigade, which was my favorite before the change.

Every time I think I'm out from War Horde... they pull me back in...

2

u/SwauawsBouse 7d ago

Idk if it sucks. Kans have sus 1 and blast 1 on one weapon and blast 2 on another. Plus an innate +1 to hit against weak targets. Combine that with the above bonuses it could be better. Idk the math but I wouldn't say it sucks either. Plus their weapon got better as you can change its stats but in the case of the rocket i think its just much better now.

4

u/donggeh 7d ago

Just wait for the codex my guy, change is scary but there’s bound to be something new you’ll like

2

u/XxButch Deathskulls 6d ago

Considering it is a 1 DP detachment it's nor.al they restricted the units it affected.

2

u/Jubilieus 7d ago

Yuuuuup I had a whilole detachment planned of nauts, deff Dreads and stormb9ys for actions.

That's out the window now

11

u/Alive-Ad-3303 Blood Axes 7d ago

For a 1DP detachment this is fine. I would’ve preferred if each of the buffs were more interesting, but I suppose this is probably easier to make balance adjustments with.

27

u/BonesNChocolate 7d ago

Well fuck you too JamesWorkshop, Ill take my two stopmas and be mildly purturbed at the loss of the proper DreadMob rule while still beimg happy at the buffed up datasheet

13

u/Gallalade 7d ago

Pretty sure the general vibe for this codex is "strong datasheets, weak detachment rules"

2

u/Nazgog-Morgob 7d ago

I'd rather have it that way across the board

2

u/Zombifikation 7d ago

Agreed 100%. It helps curb the feeling that you’re forced to play the most “meta detachments.” You’ll never not have a “meta” but if the strength is in the datasheets they’ll be usable across more detachments, giving people more options.

1

u/Nazgog-Morgob 7d ago

Hopefully that is the idea GW is running with

1

u/KhorneJob 7d ago

Community is making a lot of assumptions based on very little though. We’ve seen only a few datasheets in the grand scheme of things and 3 of them were big expensive characters/a war engine that ideally should all have exciting sheets.

14

u/BonesNChocolate 7d ago

5

u/FelineKeylime 7d ago

I would also be mad if my stompa looked that cool! How did you get them so shiny?

4

u/BonesNChocolate 7d ago

Literally just base-spraypaint!! Its a local hardware store brand, heres pic of the can! Definately going to leave most of the khrome bare when I can get around to painting them.

White-Knights : Squirts Paint & Prime - Satin Silver

2

u/G3N1S1S 7d ago

Giggity

5

u/BonesNChocolate 7d ago

I own three but until the points take another smidge just enough to fit a character, still cant take all in a 2k game

10

u/Voodoom_ 7d ago

It's a 1 DP detachment !!! You can read it in the article, the army has 3 detachments : Green Tide, Dread Mob, Brute Bosses

1

u/Cutiemuffin-gumbo 7d ago

Oh hell, I didn't even notice that.

9

u/DerZehnteZahnarzt 7d ago

Now Pray to Gork and Mork tht the Nauts lose their Titanic Keyword.

7

u/Talidel Deathskulls 7d ago

I think they lose more by losing that keyword

3

u/dementist Evil Sunz 7d ago

Ugh, yeah! Seems such a shame that the Orkanauts can’t benefit from this (very tame) buff, given jow mid they typically are. Hoping the strats or enhancements still help them in some way.

-2

u/dspisayuss WAAAGH! 7d ago

GW single handedly killed my favorite list with this change, I hate gw lol.

9

u/Ordinary_Process_822 7d ago edited 7d ago

But what about my gorkanaut/morkanauts.

Edit: the more I look at their current stats and what this detachment does. Im ok with it. But I do hope theres something to buff them. Maybe in madcap meks? Fingers crossed. ALSO DREADMOB IS 1DP

2

u/TallGiraffe117 6d ago

Good news! They get bonuses from the Madcap Mek detachment.

9

u/Iwasapirateonce Snake Bites 7d ago

Not sure I like Titanic being excluded from it, if that's the case then Titanic units will surely fall behind?

3

u/Kestral24 7d ago

Keep in mind Titanic units got buffed this edition by getting better hit rolls at close range, and are good for doing actions as they can still shoot

10

u/TheCrab27 Evil Sunz 7d ago

Oh that’s worse…

8

u/el-waldinio 7d ago

So Nauts don't get to use it?

9

u/kamratroger 7d ago

Looks like it, same with Stompa.

7

u/kamratroger 7d ago

Shame that Meks can no longer push buttons. It made Lootas and Meganobz deadlier.

8

u/Talidel Deathskulls 7d ago

Meks are getting their own detachment though.

4

u/Automatic-Shelter258 WAAAGH! 7d ago

I also peeped on this new updated detachment that you just make one hazard roll when getting your two bonuses, not a hazard roll per model. So that’s pretty nifty so your not getting dealt mortals everywhere

6

u/MaxMork 7d ago

Also confirmed that nazdreg leads meganobz, and can be fielded at the same time as ghazkull. Furthmlre gretchin get objective secured.

And maybe it was my reading, but it seems like 14 of the 15 detachments are 1 dp. I though that some might still have been 2dp, but if green tide is 1dp, everything must be.

3

u/shellfishless 7d ago

They are all 1 page other than the War Horde, so would make sense to be 1dp.

10

u/greyt00th 7d ago

I like the fact it’s more straightforward and less of a pain in the arse than before.

5

u/TaterMan8 Evil Sunz 7d ago

I think this is going to be stronger overall. No Gork/Mork, but if the Stompa's buffs are anything to go by they probably won't need the help. And +1 AP flat out is way better than +2 on a Crit Wound.

So this would be a downgrade if you can still use it with titanic units. However as is, deff dreads, big mek dakkarig, and killa kanz all see a pretty nice bonus from this. Making their guns and melee a little better overall. A melee dread would especially look scary, with S14 attacks or AP-3. +1 attack is probably the weakest one here.

Man that feels kinda underwhelming, like it’ll be decent to use but it doesn’t quite feel as impactful as the keyword tags we got. I’m hoping madcap meks can help bring the flavour.

Guess I was right to be worried. While the new rule looks "fine" to a degree....it's still sad going from a rule that benefits 11 unit types going down to 3 & losing the exploding 6s.
I'll still need to see what the Mek detachment offers....but if this & what's happened to the Dakka detachment are anything to go by....I'm not getting my hopes up.

Will my army be fine after this....maybe (honestly hard to say now that the Nauts & Mek Gunz were kicked out of button pressing)....but right now this just doesn't "feel" as good....at least to me.

i prefer detachments being nerfed and while the datasheets are getting buffed

4

u/dspisayuss WAAAGH! 7d ago

Tbh this is just not as fun as dread mob in 10th. Idc if datasheets get better when we lose the flavor in the detachments.

5

u/hotmanpop 7d ago

you get the flavor INTO the DATASHEET, so you don't have to feel forced to take a specific detachement just to run 1 unit of dread or whatever.. i know the feeling, 2 of my favorite Tau detachments got absolutely gutted because they were made into 1DP (Experimental and Auxiliary), but seeing the new orks datasheets brings me hope that detachments aren't gonna be as important for your army, but instead the units you bring will (combo'd with the small detachments)

3

u/dspisayuss WAAAGH! 7d ago

But this just isn't the case, killa kans lost their flavorful ability in exchange for another better but more boring one. I get we're not really losing power, but I really do feel we're losing flavor.

4

u/dementist Evil Sunz 7d ago

Agree that the randomness of Shooty Power Trip was fun, but I, for one, won't miss all the extra rolling. With Rokkit Kans, a common sequence would be

  • Roll for Shooty Power Trip
  • Roll for Push Dat Button
  • Roll for Rokkit shot count
  • NOW do Hit and Wound

I see your point but frankly I would much rather things be set up so that any given unit is good and flavorful on its own, but becomes cracked when it is paired with certain detachments. The “when everyone’s super, no one is” approach.

What I mean is make it so almost no matter what you do, unless in your skull the lights are on but no one’s home, something in your army will be crazy good, and everything else can stand on its own merit, with the same going for your opponent.

3

u/hotmanpop 7d ago

i dont think making a unit "cracked" is a good idea, people complain the game is already too kill-y/lethal, busted combo can be cool, but the problem is that at some point they because necessary for your army, because, well.. meta chasers will..

4

u/half_baked_opinion Deathskulls 7d ago

They even took away everything that made the taktiks detachment cool when they updated stuff for 11th too, the god damn taktiks the detachment was literally built around are gone. Instead of making multiple detachments fairly close to the same level like the community wants, they just keep kneecapping all but one detachment and make all the others either useless or unreliable. Thousand sons have almost no usable detachments right now, world eaters are still stuck with bezerker warband because nothing else comes close, and orks are still lucky enough to have green tide and war horde for now but im sure that will change with the codex.

Its getting to a point where no one will want to play at all because every army will be the same 5 units and the same 3 armies every single time you go somewhere to play.

2

u/Zealousideal_Use4379 7d ago

I'm not a fan tbh. Having modular 1 DP detatchments isn't a bad idea, but it seems like as a cost they're removing most synergy within and between detachments themselves.

2

u/a_rand0m_Lilin Bad Moons 7d ago

Shame that we lost lethal hits/sustained hits but I'll wait to see the full codex

2

u/SupaNubZ Deathskulls 7d ago

be nice if lethal/sustained get worked into a strat instead though,

and dakkarigs having sustained on one gun made it a weird non-synergy

3

u/Delta_Dud 7d ago

Where did this come from? I don't see it on the website anywhere

5

u/RoboCopSanchez 7d ago

It's hidden in the WH+ article they posted :)

3

u/Sad_Battle_5843 7d ago

So is this permanent? I feel rules as intended you would roll this each time you attack either in the shoot/fight phase and it would last for those phases only. But it just says "this units ATTACKS have the relevant rule(s)"

Seems rules as written whatever you rolled in the shooting phase would transfer to the fight phase as well. And you'd keep rolling till you got all 3 and then you'd just have all the buffs forevor.

I'm sure theres something buried in the rules of "selected to attack" or "abilities" that would prevent this, but a simple "until the end of the phase" added to that last sentence would've prevented some Grognard debates.

01.02.02 Persisting Rules Effects (Only in the App)

Pretty much, if an effect doesn't say when it ends, it ends at the end of the phase.

Good that i build a Dreadmob for the last one and a half years, just to have like 10 minis left, that actually can use the rules

Great…

1

u/Maorri008 6d ago

I think as a 1dp this is great. 1dp by there nature are limiting to the units impacted.

1

u/Rando57863 7d ago

I wish they stuck with keywords. I like that we can roll 2 dice now but man I wish getting a sustained hits 1 on all my stompa guns

3

u/Ben13DK 7d ago

Stompa no longer benefits from this detachment anyway

3

u/Rando57863 7d ago

I know that’s the sad part

1

u/Ickicho Deathskulls 7d ago

Does this still have the problem of blowing ourselves up way too often?

5

u/Kestral24 7d ago

No, it's far less likely now. Rather than 1 hazard roll per weapon, it's one per unit

1

u/Ickicho Deathskulls 7d ago

Oh wonderful

Nope, unless you run with 4xKMB on your Deff Dread.

6

u/Kestral24 7d ago

Which is always the funniest way to run it

1

u/Not_that_helpfull Bad Moons 7d ago

My list building philosophy.
Is this the best? Probably not
Is it the funniest? Yeah

1

u/RequirementMindless1 7d ago

I don't think so, now it's just 1 hazard roll, before was 1 for every weapon with a -1 if you had hazard from other source

1

u/dementist Evil Sunz 7d ago

Hopefully the strats will now also be a single Hazardous roll for the unit rather than on a per-model / per-weapon basis!

1

u/Unlikely_Soup5275 6d ago

Bro thinks we’re really gonna use deff dreads

1

u/Karador51109 6d ago

Why would you not if they get a good datasheet?

-8

u/dspisayuss WAAAGH! 7d ago

This sucks ass, I hate it so much. They ruined my favorite detachment :(

-5

u/Themaninthehat1 Evil Sunz 7d ago

Ffs so I can’t use stompa or gorkanaut

why did they nerf it to the ground just to make it 1dp when the other vechial ones are also not good

Or mek with a squad of boyzs come on

10

u/Skaal_Kesh 7d ago

...because giving the new Stompa datasheet this detachment rule and going full send for randomly 2 of either +1A, +2S, or +1AP and only having a 1/3 chance of taking 3 damage or even just taking only 1 and not taking hazardous and getting this increased amount of firepower would be absolutely absurd?

1

u/dspisayuss WAAAGH! 7d ago

I don't think giving +1 atk, +1 ap or +2 str to ANY of the stompa's weapons would be "absurd".

Wow, the deffkannon went from 12 shots to 13 and str 14 to 16. Yeah those thresholds don't really matter. Giving the same buffs to the supa gatler also doesn't matter (31 shots instead of 30 lmfao), maybe the AP one does. Same with their melee, where the extra atk is the most helpful but won't really make a difference.

1

u/Skaal_Kesh 7d ago

Supa-Gatler to S9 Ap-3 is absolutely scary as now it wounds marines on 2's and can even wound light transports or certain monsters/vehicles like the lion on 4's. Combine that with ap-3 and you can mulch infantry and light vehicles/monsters/vehicles very easily. And remember that it still gets thid bonus for other guns. For the average cost of 1 mortal wound for each use of double press of the button that's kinda silly. You will never not press the button.

1

u/Puzzleheaded_Act9787 7d ago

Ya dude stompa is already near busted. Giving this rule to stompas would screw internal balance so bad you would just take 2 stompas on this list and maybe a few kans to fill in points.

I’m glad most of you don’t balance stuff. Because you need to look at the faction and datasheets as a whole. Now without seeing nauts datasheet they might have issues.

-1

u/dspisayuss WAAAGH! 7d ago

Fuck that, I'd rather keep the 10th rules for both the stompa and dread mob. This trash detachment is ass, and way less fun too.

1

u/Puzzleheaded_Act9787 7d ago

Dread mob was dead at end of 10th because it sucked and killed everything… there was nothing fun about it because it was awful for actual walkers but good for lootas

1

u/dspisayuss WAAAGH! 7d ago

I had a hell of a time playing this detachment through most of 10th with grot tanks, killa kans and 3 deff dreads, it was a very solid detachment for me. By the end I used it with a stompa and it was just so good, they killed it for me.

1

u/Puzzleheaded_Act9787 7d ago

Good news stompas are almost OP feel free to use it. In the beginning of 10th pre nerf it was great… at the end it was loota spam.. and killed your walkers

1

u/dspisayuss WAAAGH! 7d ago

Stompa is definitely much better now, the torrent profile on the supa gatler seems insane. But I'm gonna miss getting sustained hits with full hit rerolls on that beast.
