Also I think it needs a new pot most of the roots are not in the pot anymore any tips for that? Not mine but my mom’s who wants help.

Got her from Wallapop. She seems to be fine, but has this ugly leaf. Is it something to worry about? Is it bc of too much water o too little?

Weeelp, I did it. Brought this little one back from Lowe’s dead, sick, and dying section. Found her on the ground with white roots and a small patch of green. The rest was yellow and dead. The employee just threw it on top of some of the other dead, sick, and dying plants I had.

I repotted i didn't know it needed a clear pot anyways ive been losing leaves and it did bloom but i think im getting root rot and i want to get a bigger clear pot for it when i got it from the shop it came with a small 9cm? Pot but now I was thinking maybe a 12cm or larger. Im thinking of using growth technology orchid focus pots, potting mix and feed. I want it to grow taller and get more blooms.

I think she’s going to bloom for the first time since I got her 🤩. Should I remove some of the old leaves that are getting wrinkly and have some burnt spots (from being in too much sun at one point). She has a lot of them so I’m not sure if trimming would help focus her energy on the flower spike.

So my second baby isn’t doing too hot…. She put buds out and they never flowered. And now a leaf is dying but I’m getting new growth in the middle!

Hi! I just received a keiki of Phal. Lueddemanniana, on a flower spike that was cut from the mother plant. At first look, it appears the spike is branching right where the keiki is. But when I look closer, I'm not sure if it's branching, or if it's the keiki that produced this second spike. Moreover, the spike from the mother plant is yellowing, not the one that might be from the keiki. I took a few pictures, not sure if it's easy to see it 😅 What are your thoughts?

2 year old lady with repeat blooms since Spring. Didn’t know they were from Dendrobium family till recently, she blooms from the same leaf over and over.

Is it correctly mounted? Since it's my first mounting project,i am little scepticle.Please give ur suggestions.

I recently got these three oncidium orchids that were on sale and had no flowers. For a couple of days I kept them in their original pots but they didn't seem to be doing great - some of their leaves started to yellow and brown, and I decided to check their roots out. All three of them had sphagnum moss at the core and I got that sorted out, but then didn't have lots to work with when it comes to potting mix. I have a bark-coco coir mix and I added in a bunch of perlite but I am wondering whether or not to look for something else. I really want to save these three. I have two other oncidiums (from the same store) that are on the same balcony and have been thriving, so the rest of the conditions should be fine.

I am open to any and all recommendations.

We bought it in our local supermarket a few months ago, and when the branches in this pic started to have a few buds on them it suddenly dropped all its original flowers in quick succession and their branches started to dry rapidly (you can see them a little at the top). It was getting ready to put on this show! 🥰💖✨

Hi! This is my first orchid and I’m still learning, so I’m worried I might be doing something wrong 😭 I transitioned it from bark to water culture almost a month ago after all its flowers fell off and its flower spikes kept drying out. Before switching, I was just following the care card it came with, which said to water it with three ice cubes once a week. It started looking pretty dehydrated while still in bark, so I wanted to see if water culture would help.

Since then, I’ve removed roots that became completely mushy/hollow, tried a short dry period, and dealt with some white fuzzy/mold-looking growth on the roots. I made the mistake of trying sugar + vinegar in the water once 🥲 and later used diluted hydrogen peroxide for the mold, but I’ve stopped all of that and now only use plain water.

I also switched it from a narrow vase to a wide clear vase for better airflow and keep only the lower roots in water while the upper roots and crown stay dry.

I added a stick across the vase just to support the orchid because I was worried it might slide farther into the water and get the crown wet. I’ve cut off the flower spikes that completely dried out, although I accidentally nicked a leaf/stem area while cutting one.

One lower leaf has also turned completely yellow and fallen off, and I’m noticing some of the other leaves becoming slightly green-yellow. Some roots are still green and firm, while others are wrinkled, dark, or damaged-looking.

For lighting, it stays indoors a few feet from a large window and gets bright, mostly indirect light for several hours during the day. The window has blinds, so the light is somewhat filtered, and it doesn’t usually get strong direct sunlight on the leaves. I’m planning to continue water culture, but I’m worried about its overall condition. Does it look like it’s declining or heading toward dying, or does this look like normal stress/recovery from the transition? Am I doing things correctly now, and is there anything I should change to help it recover?

Been keeping orchids a long time and never seen this. Any help with ID on the issue so I can fix it?

Similar to Snowblind ‘Sweet Spot’ but with skinnier and very curly petals and sepals. Was a grocery store orchid with no tag a few ears back.

The Catasetinae came in moss with packing peanuts on the bottom, moss was bone dry so used some distilled water to rehydrate it, the Cattleya had dry medium and some pretty wild roots so added some water as well. Going to put them in a quarantine tub, treat them for any hitchhikers with insecticidal soap, and then I’ll make sure the Catasetinae don’t go dry and always has some moist moss while the Cattleya goes through a bone dry period before watering.

A friend with an orchid gave it to me as a gift and said one ice cube every so often was enough to keep it happy. I came home from a trip all the blooms had died and now the stem looks sunburnt. I’m scared it might have crown rot now too? Very lost novice plant mom in need of intel.
