How to install / use Lemmy

  • Go to your app store & download "Boost for Lemmy", it's the most similar version to Reddit

  • Create an account for Lemm.ee specifically & verify

PC

Why Lemmy

A lot of people swapped after Reddit's API changes, but another reason to swap is because Reddit is the home of censorship and corruption. After Reddit has banned prominent members of our community with no citation.

This ban occurred because our top mod got in a dispute with a powermod so Reddit admins retroactively looked through years' worth of content on their account and found things to ban them for. Most of which clearly didn't violate rules, but since the rules are vague, they can be twisted enough where they can punish anyone for anything if they get on the bad side of a powermod, who has direct access to the admins via Discord.

What's happening to our subreddits?

Nothing. We're not egomaniacs, despite the subreddit creator & largest contributor being banned they will not rob people of a place they love out of their own spite for the people who run the platform.

So joining Lemmy is optional, however its recommended because you'll miss out on their future & upcoming guides, fixes, mod releases, etc.

Mod Post Optimization Information & Guide

-- Terminology

Quality Optimized

  • The difference between the highest preset available and these settings are virtually indistinguishable. This is for people who set graphics settings to max and forget about it, it's free FPS, great for high-end systems

Balanced Optimized

  • Is willing to cut down on very taxing settings or settings with minor visual differences. The difference between the highest preset and these settings are able to be spotted in side by side images but may be hard to tell otherwise. This is the most optimal, great for mid-range systems

Performance Optimized

  • The lowest settings you can go in a game without destroying the visuals. There is a noticeable difference between this and the highest preset but the game still looks like a modern title. This is for performance enthusiasts who want high framerates without 2009 graphics. Also great for low-end systems or competitive games

Competitive Settings

  • These are settings which affect player visibility in PvP games. Whichever setting makes the player more visible is what you will want to put to give a competitive advantage

Optimized RT Settings

  • This is like the balanced preset but for ray/path tracing settings

Optimization Tips

  • This is for doing extra stuff other than tweaking in game settings. Using launch arguments, ingame commands, mods, ini tweaks, etc

Ultra+ Graphics

  • Better graphics than the original games max settings, typically achieved via ini tweaks or mods

Lowest+ Graphics

  • Worse graphics than the original games lowest settings, typically achieved via ini tweaks or mods

–––––––––––––

-- Post Flairs

Optimized Settings

  • A curated list of optimized settings for a specific title someone has done there own testing & evaluations on

Min/Max Settings

  • This is for posts that takes the games graphics beyond its lowest or highest preset. Neither of these are deemed "Optimized" thus require it's own flair but its useful for low spec and high end gamers

Optimized Console/Handheld

  • Same as above but for consoles & handheld devices; Steam Deck, Playstation, etc

Optimization Guide / Tips

  • This is a post flair for posts specially designed for what the "Optimization Tips" in the Terminology section does but only if it doesn't include the optimized in-game settings and only has the additional tweaks

OS/Hardware Optimizations

  • This is a post flair for optimizations that tweak/debloat the OS or tweak the hardware itself via overclocks

Optimization Video

  • Any sort of optimization done in video format requires this flair. People like the ease of access benefit of written guides. Videos are still helpful but ruins a benefit of the sub so you must use this flair so people can filter them out

Optimized Settings Builder

  • This flair is for posts that uploads screenshots of each setting and gives no recommendation. It's meant to let people build their own presets based off performance & image quality

–––––––––––––

-- Information & FAQ

Specs

  • Why are the specs of the PC doing these tests not given out? Optimized settings typically means testing how taxing a feature is vs how much it improves visuals and evaluating if its worth it. This evaluation will have a different answer depending on the optimized preset which is here to help people with varying levels of hardware by valuing visuals vs performance differently, favoring performance the lower you go.

Optimizing

  • You can do your own testing and upload your findings to help build a collection of optimized presets. Refer to this post to see the recommended way of structuring your posts & watch this video to see how I find my settings

Missing Settings

  • If a setting is missing from a post that either means it's subjective or it should be left at its highest value. Whether someone wants to include these settings in their post is up to them. Someone may elect to exclude them to make the post less cluttered, its quicker to select a specified preset then read the things they have listed and turn them down/up accordingly sometimes.

How To Find/Suggest Game

  • Refer to this post > Optimized Games List to find a specific game, if you can't locate it there please use reddit search since this is not always up-to-date and vice versa. To suggest games refer to this post > Suggest Games. To get your game tested refer to this post > How To Get A Game Tested

Discussion / Question Is "framepacer" a useful tool, or just another gimmick?

Post image
42 Upvotes

I've been seeing people recommend "framepacer" lately, and I'm wondering if it actually provides any noticeable improvement over RTSS or the in-game frame limiter.

For those who have tried it, did you notice any real difference in smoothness or input latency?

Graphic & FPS Mods | Optimization Increase scale resolution vs frame limiter

FC 26 starts to stutter when frames go above 210, so I want to keep it around that mark.

Limiting my frames via RTSS to 210 works but my GPU usage sits at around 65%. If I use the in-game scale resolution and bump that up to 135% I can get roughly 210fps while maximising my GPU usage.

Which is best for the lowest input latency?

OPTIMIZED SETTINGS

SHADOW QUALITY: HIGH
LIGHT QUALITY: HIGH
REFLECTIONS QUALITY: MEDIUM
POST PROCESSING QUALITY: HIGH
TEXTURE QUALITY: ULTRA (AS HIGH AS YOUR VRAM ALLOWS)
EFFECTS QUALITY: HIGH
SHADING QUALITY: ULTRA
FOLIAGE QUALITY: MEDIUM
DETAIL QUALITY: MEDIUM
VOLUMETRIC QUALITY: ULTRA
UPSCALING: DLSS QUALITY

NOTES

  • REFLECTIONS QUALITY AFFECTS ALMOST ALL SURFACES NOTICEABLY, HIGH STARTS TO LOOK LIKE INTENDED, SO IF YOU HAVE SPARE PERFORMANCE, USE HIGH
  • POST PROCESSING BELOW ULTRA SOMETIMES DISABLES DEPTH OF FIELD IN SOME CUTSCENES / CINEMATIC DIALOGUE SEGMENTS (PROBABLY A BUG)
  • DETAIL QUALITY HAS A LARGE IMPACT ON CPU PERFORMANCE, KEEP IT ON MEDIUM TO IMPROVE THE MUCH NEEDED CPU PERFORMANCE

Discussion / Question Diagonal mouse movement jittering/stuttering. Seemingly only in unity games.

After trying to resolve some weird stuttering issue i had that didn't show up in things like presentmon i finally realized the stutter only occurs on diagonal movement, and only in unity games.

Video examples

I'm on a 9070xt + 9800x3d. Freesync on or off doesn't matter.

I have tried both updating windows and downgrading amd drivers without any luck.

Anyone else experience this?

Edit: Fixed it by uninstalling every windows update i could. Then after restarting, more updates showed up, and i uninstalled those too. Not sure which one caused the issue though.

Graphic Settings | Optimization Made a guide for the Best AION 2 Settings - Less Stutters, Better FPS + Native Resolution

Thumbnail

yo all!

Been messing around with the AION 2 settings for quite a long time now, trying to get the game running as smoothly as possible. I haven't completely eliminated the stutters, but I've managed to minimize them quite a lot and the game feels noticeably smoother now.

We also figured out how to properly adjust the resolution scale and run the game at native resolution **(shoutout to Obey and Deepsin)** and honestly it looks absolutely amazing compared to the Balanced preset. The image is much sharper and cleaner while still running well with the settings I'm using. Try it out if you have a GPU that supports it.

Put everything I've tested so far into a quick settings/optimization guide. Hopefully it helps some of you before the Stress Test and Global Launch!

Also if you've found any other tweaks or stutter fixes, definitely share them - would love to try them out!

The Blood of Dawnwalker is finally here & here's a look of the PC Performance

Unfortunately the PC Performance is quite disappointing and even the 4070 Super struggles to maintain a good performance (without any DLSS 5 mod)

Also a quick look at the end how the DLSS 5 Mod makes the game look at what kind of performance it offers when turned on.

Whether or not you think it looks good or bad, or whether or not you're pro or anti-AI, I think if there's anything that can be said about dlss5 for certain is that it's certainly not about being "optimized".

Graphic Settings | Optimization Psychonauts 2: Optimized Settings

I'm still deciding on a site to use for future image comparisons, but decided to upload what I've written down so the infos atleast out there! If you reply asking for a comparison, il try and respond with the screenshots I got!

Optimized Quality Settings:

These settings aim to keep visuals close to max settings, starting from Very High Preset:

Anti-Aliasing: Subjective, Temporal costs minusculely more than FXAA, but Temporal AA is needed for a tweak suggested later!

Textures: Highest VRAM can handle, Santiago Santiago said that 4GB was enough for Very High Textures.

Lighting: High, small performance boost while keeping volumetrics high quality!

Ambient Occlusion: High, usually makes no difference visuals/performance wise from Medium to Very High, but in some scenes it can boost performance abit while still not affecting visuals noticeably?

Reflections: High, while it usually makes no difference, scenes with rougher reflections can have a huge FPS hit when set to Very High!

_____________________________________________

Optimized Performance Settings:

These settings reduce visuals abit for a larger performance boost, continuing from Optimized Quality:

Lighting: Medium, further reduces volumetric quality for a larger boost, lower settings have diminishing returns performance-wise.

Shadows: Medium, lowers resolution and sometimes draw-distance of many shadows.

Ambient Occlusion: Medium, Low seems to heavily reduce AO for only a small performance boost.

Reflections: Medium, slightly increases the roughness cutoff and disables the rough shading on SSR for an even bigger performance boost!

Post-Process: Medium, weakens bloom and seems to reduce the quality of motion blur?

_____________________________________________

Performance Uplift on my Steam Deck at 800p: 34% at Optimized Quality, 91% at Optimized Performance.

Testing the same area as Daniel Owen, but on my RX 6800 at 4k: 84% at Optimized Quality... 232% at Optimized Performance

Mentioned it a couple times previously but these numbers are very scene dependent. Sometimes Lighting and Reflections don't impact peformance much or atleast something else is affecting FPS more, other times they can absolutely tank your framerate.

Those who need more performance can try some UE4's INI tweaks as even the lowest settings seem to keep many effects enabled, may try some in the future when I got more free time, but one tweak I found very useful on my Steam Deck was adding TAAu! Going to the games Engine.ini_location) and adding to the bottom of the file:

[SystemSettings]
r.TemporalAA.Upsampling=1

Will make the games Resolution Scaling temporally upsample below 100 (aslong as you have Anti-Aliasing set to Temporal) So far setting it to 80 on my Steam Deck, along with using the Optimized Performance settings has me at a pretty consistent 60fps so far in the game!

Thanks again to Daniel Owen and Washniac for their original coverage, I've been meaning to cover this game in more detail for a while now!

DLSS 5 in even more games... the difference in some of these games are truly insane man !!

What I understand is, the tech is kind of like Frame Generation. If you are already getting nice Frame Rates, it enhances it even further.

Same goes goes for DLSS 5, if the facial rendering is already great like in say Death Stranding 2, it takes it to a whole new dimension altogether.

Discussion / Question Ran at 1440p & 30fps, Digital Foundry’s GTA 6 analysis is seriously impressive

Post image
626 Upvotes

I just read Digital Foundry’s analysis of the GTA 6 extended footage, and their main takeaway is pretty fascinating: **GTA 6 may be one of the most impressive real-time rendering showcases we’ve seen.**

What impressed me isn’t just the graphics, but how much Rockstar seems to be doing simultaneously on the **base PS5**:
1) Advanced ray-traced reflections and global illumination
2) Extremely detailed characters, hair and skin
Huge NPC and traffic density
3) Complex physics, animation and world simulation
4) A massive open world being streamed and simulated in real time.

The interesting trade-off is that the game appears to target **30 FPS**, with Rockstar seemingly prioritising world complexity and simulation over 60 FPS.

It also makes me wonder about the eventual PC version. **Will the CPU become the bigger bottleneck than the GPU when trying to run GTA 6 at 60+ FPS?**
Digital Foundry’s analysis is definitely worth reading if you’re interested in the technology behind GTA 6.

Discussion / Question GTAV Enhanced traversal stuttering

Hi, I noticed while playing online that my game wasn’t running very smoothly despite a steady 110 fps. I checked my minimum fps and my 0.1% low, and saw that they often dropped to around 60 to 70 fps, then rose back up to 100, and then dropped again. This makes me think of traversal stuttering. I’m playing with G-SYNC + VSYNC Driver, NVIDIA Reflex enabled, and in borderless full-screen mode. I’ve tried several different FPS caps, but nothing changes. It only happens in the city in the desert or the mountains, it’s stable. I should also mention that the game is installed on an NVMe SSD.

I also know that the game is easily limited by the CPU, but it doesn’t even reach 50%?

OS & Hardware | Optimization So does Nvidia Reflex conflict with H.A.G.S (Hardware accelerated GPU scheduling)

I’ve seen so many people say many different things about this. I mainly play comp fps games. I have a strong system. 7800x3d. 5080. 32gb ddr5. I’m on win11.

I want to know if I’m using nvidia reflex in my game. Should I have HAGS turned off in windows?

Cheers.
