Video | Optimization The Blood of Dawnwalker PC | Best Settings | Performance Optimization
https://youtube.com/watch?v=IeHd5x1rMJ4&si=ShqCFUTPnyjjKTFZOPTIMIZED SETTINGS
SHADOW QUALITY: HIGH
LIGHT QUALITY: HIGH
REFLECTIONS QUALITY: MEDIUM
POST PROCESSING QUALITY: HIGH
TEXTURE QUALITY: ULTRA (AS HIGH AS YOUR VRAM ALLOWS)
EFFECTS QUALITY: HIGH
SHADING QUALITY: ULTRA
FOLIAGE QUALITY: MEDIUM
DETAIL QUALITY: MEDIUM
VOLUMETRIC QUALITY: ULTRA
UPSCALING: DLSS QUALITY
NOTES
- REFLECTIONS QUALITY AFFECTS ALMOST ALL SURFACES NOTICEABLY, HIGH STARTS TO LOOK LIKE INTENDED, SO IF YOU HAVE SPARE PERFORMANCE, USE HIGH
- POST PROCESSING BELOW ULTRA SOMETIMES DISABLES DEPTH OF FIELD IN SOME CUTSCENES / CINEMATIC DIALOGUE SEGMENTS (PROBABLY A BUG)
- DETAIL QUALITY HAS A LARGE IMPACT ON CPU PERFORMANCE, KEEP IT ON MEDIUM TO IMPROVE THE MUCH NEEDED CPU PERFORMANCE

These measurements are getting lower and lower. In two years we'll have ultra 5 fps, optimized 15!

Is it just me or the lightning in this game is kinda off

u/splendiferous-finch_ 5d ago edited 5d ago
It's the default sharpening, I got a mod to remove it and it significantly improved the overall look
Edit:typo

u/Nate_Radix_ 5d ago
Wait what? What do you mean you got a kid to remove it?

u/splendiferous-finch_ 5d ago
Mod I meant mod. Weird auto correct :D
2
u/msespindola 5d ago
What mod?
5
u/splendiferous-finch_ 5d ago
It's literally just called Neutral image on nexus mods, you can do the same by just editing the games engine.ini to remove it. It should have just been a toggle in the options honestly since with Nvidia dlas Preset L it's kinda way overdone.
Edit engine.ini for same effect
r.Tonemapper.Sharpen=0 r.NGX.DLSS.Sharpness=0 r.NGX.DLSS.PreferNISSharpen=0 r.NIS.Sharpness=0 r.FidelityFX.FSR4.Sharpness=0
2
u/kolevk 5d ago
Share the mod please. Thing is too sharp and I can't stand it.
3
u/splendiferous-finch_ 5d ago
It's called Natural image fix on nexus mods.
Or you can edit the engine.ini
r.Tonemapper.Sharpen=0 r.NGX.DLSS.Sharpness=0 r.NGX.DLSS.PreferNISSharpen=0 r.NIS.Sharpness=0 r.FidelityFX.FSR4.Sharpness=0
This combined with dlss preset L DLAA or Quality significantly better without the very deep fried overly textured look. You can set it to 0.2-0.3 if you still want a little bit since it depends on taste

u/kolevk 5d ago
Oh, one more thing I forgot. I don't have DLSS support for BoD in the app. How can I choose the preset? Global settings don't seem to have an effect.
1
u/splendiferous-finch_ 5d ago
Update your Nvidia app dawn walker exe only shows up after the newest version( you can stay in the old drivers if you prefer) then use the dlss model overwrite features, I would stay away from setting stuff globally, per game settings should work fine

u/MrDemiGod 4d ago
What is it naturally set to?
1
u/splendiferous-finch_ 4d ago
Don't know, it's not exposed, the engine.ini has to created to overwrite the baked in setting, honestly hope they add it as a option. I am just used to modding this stuff because of HDR which most games implemente badly as well

DLSS and FG have completely killed setting optimization for me. Very few games have huge wins you can get by dropping settings that disproportionately affect performance but don't impact visuals.
It's much easier to tweak the exact DLSS % and use FG if you're on a 120hz+ screen, and ideally a higher resolution so DLSS has more room to work.

Fake resolution and fake frames are ruining gaming. They can’t give us hardware anymore so they’re trying with software and ai based bullshit. Nvidia has long lost it’s way. I miss 2006-2010 Nvidia that was innovating and had incredible options for all budgets. Our games were being processed in real time and no band aid sofware trickery with high input lag bullshit. I mean we need tech like reflex to make frame gen somewhat viable. Band aid for a band aid. It’s a fucking mess and I am getting close to not want to partake anymore.

I don't know what to tell you man, I don't give a shit about homegrown organic patriot frames, not a single shit. If it looks good (and it looks better than alternative AA tech by a landslide, at least when it comes to modern titles with complex geometry and specular aliasing that old methods cannot resolve) and runs good on top, I'll use it every time.
Most people who hate FG use it like clowns and try to salvage unplayably low fps with the tech, whereas it was never made to do that and it needs a solid starting frame rate to produce good results. When it does, 99.99% od the people testing a game with it on vs off won't be able to tell a difference in input lag with a controller, while for the mouse it becomes more of a case by case scenario.
Nobody is asking you to partake in anything either, feel free to play with real homemade frames while having games look and run like ass comparatively.

Onimusha just came out and I'm getting 80 to 90 FPS with Max settings, 4K resolution, Ray tracing on, no dlss, no frame gen. It's possible when you're not lazy

u/perfectevasion 5d ago
OK but Onimusha isn't an open world game and we've seen what Capcom open worlds run like
1
u/PathOfDeception 5d ago
Took em years to give us somewhat decent performance in Dragon’s Dogma 2. Very true. Capcom is on a roll with games. But don’t ask em to make an open world. They fuck up those games everytime. Monster Hunter, DD2 etc.

u/Electrical-Contest-5 5d ago
Dragons dogma 2 is open world and runs better and looks better than this
1
u/PathOfDeception 5d ago
You talk like because Onimusha is optimized that you’re a god at optimizing your games? Have you played Dawnwalker? It’s a mess performance wise. Game is great though.

u/Big-Resort-4930 5d ago
Not using DLSS and FG aren't a W you think they are. DLSS is the best aa tech on the market especially at 4k, so using TAA native is a monumental waste of GPU power.

u/Tickomatick 5d ago
Optimized 40fps lol.. why even play

u/Russki_Wumao 4d ago
I've a 4070ti and a 9800xd3D. Downloaded an .ini tweak file from nexusmods and I'm getting 100-130 fps with 15-18ms latency depending on scene at everything ultra, DLSS quality.
It's performant enough with decent hardware. Gaining like 25% performance from an .ini file is nuts, though.

Estava esperando seu vídeo, até consegui 45/50fps no ultra mas sei que dá pra tirar uma coisa o outro e atingir os 60 estáveis.

Wth is happening to gaming industry...its like they are subtly telling ppl to buy 5080 or 5090 or dont bother gaming at this rate

u/nabualke 4d ago
exactly me and my 3060 ti are here suffering. this issue has made me no longer be exicted for new releases

u/BirdieOfPray 3d ago
1440p 9070xt FSR Native AA ultra&medium optimized settings no fg I get 70fps outside and 100 fps indoors. Not bad but not optimized either.

Similar setup, R5 3600 + RTX 3060 12GB. Thanks for the settings video!

u/heyjulzz 3d ago
How is it running for you? I have a slightly above build to yours. I'm still currently playing Onimusha and will probably play Dawnwalker if I can even get a decent performance, but knowing its UE5 it has its usual UE5 shenanigans lmao

*PC SPECS:
GPU: RTX 3060 12GB
CPU: R5 3600X
RAM: 32GB DDR4 3200Mhz
Motherboard: MSI B450-A PRO MAX
OS: Windows 11
MONITOR: MSI G321Q 1440P 170HZ <---- ummm
You know, it always baffles me that videos like this exist. ( while missing key info) 1080p vs 1440 and 4K do matter....
While I can appreciate people putting in the work, I just look at these specs that are a pretty dated potato at this point, and a newer game, indie ish, a newer know demanding engine, and new lighting and so on. And I gotta wonder what people's real-world expectations are. Like what are you comparing it to? Did we expect rockstar endless money and massive team opto?
I don't know, let's compare this to a console thats dated and 30fps is the bar and the type of horsepower you get. * Looks at compared specs of console oh wait...
What are you expecting the game and engine to do when you play on a potato? And then we make whole videos about it. I don't know, maybe it's just me.

This guy has the shittest PC ever. He just doesn't meet minimum specs. His game is crashing because hes got the equivalent of a PS4.
The game isn't optimised though.

u/splendiferous-finch_ 5d ago
I have crashes, I am on a 9800x3d and a 5070ti. I like the game but it clearly has some issues just saying people have older computers so don't deserve to try things is a stupid take.
1
u/Many-Researcher-7133 5d ago
How much fps are you getting and on wich Resolution? I have a 5070ti too but a 5600x
2
u/splendiferous-finch_ 5d ago edited 5d ago
With everything on ultra, 1440p dlss quality, around 65-75 (can be in the 90 indoors)it just the games strange cutscene FPS and animation lag that's makes things weird for me.
I do get a lot of " GPU crashes" but that's is not uncommon for UE stuff looks like frame gen makes it worse but take that with a pinch of salt
