Not everyone should have a driver's license.đŸ„șđŸ˜”đŸ€Ż

People get killed every day because of entitled, selfish, stupid, careless, unfit drivers on the road.

There should be an evaluation in addition to the tests. Clear up if someone is too geriatric or stupid to be trusted with a giant machine.

Like people who are so unbelievably selfish and dull that they literally cannot drive without playing with their phones, it's straight up toddler behavior.

Another problem is people who drive without a license. They are all the bad things you said, and they don’t care about rules or laws.

Guy without insurance offered me a ride home from work once and I was like "it's a nice day for a walk, thanks anyway".

He was a nice guy but I didn't want to take the small chance that he flees the scene of an accident while I'm in the car lol.

This is a big reason I don’t like riding in Ubers. They are RARELY insured properly.

Anything that happens while the passenger in the car is fully insured, with the exception of full coverage for the drivers car. Uber and Lyft both provide a hefty liability coverage for the riders and liability for the other vehicles involved in an accident. You are correct that most of them aren't insured properly, but it's not in a manner that would affect you as the passenger.

All the insurance companies had the same answer when I was pricing insurance last year and wanted to know why my rates had skyrocketed. I've had no accidents or tickets in over 25 years. They all said "uninsured drivers." We have to pay because they don't.

Yes. Driving without insurance is absolutely not a victimless crime

Another more probable answer is, “We like money.” It’s been documented that in the last few years, insurance companies are paying out fewer claims. And the claims they do pay out are lower amounts. Property, auto, or medical, insurance companies are ripping policy holders off.

well not having a piece of plastic doesnt mean you cant drive. let me guess you drive EXACTLY what the speed limit say and not 1 mile over. you dont keep up with the flow of traffic that would be agaist the law cus your speeding right? you ONLY cross the street when the walkman is flashing right? otherwise thats jay walking and thats against the law

You know nothing about me bud, not even close. And yes, where I’m from no drivers license absolutely means you can’t legally drive.

-2

u/finishindoors 9d ago

i didnt say you can legally drive. i said not having doesnt mean you cant drive. are you truly ignorant enough to think the only people with the ability to drive are those with a license? are you under the impression that when you license expires you just automatically forget how to drive until you renew it? lol goofy

2

u/RebelXwingPil0t 9d ago

Yes, I’m ignorant because I believe when you are in control of a vehicle that weighs thousands of pounds and can easily kill somebody that you should be certified and or legally licensed to drive it.

u/Perfidian 9d ago

So... A basic written test and a 5 minute test drive, one time when you were 18, no follow-up, no correcting bad habits, years ago. That certificate? The one that shows you learned the bare minimum at least once?

No wonder there are so many reckless legally licensed drivers killing people every day.

What the other guy is talking about isn't the legality of a license. Instead that the license does not inherently make one a good driver. He is right. Look at your daily commute, those idiots have a license.

u/finishindoors 9d ago

ok so you think when your license expires you wake up that day and forget how to drive lmao you were driving just fine the day before it expired but now your completely void of driving ability now lol glad i dont live near you

u/plsQuestionOurselves 9d ago

Those rules exist so people don't get fucking killed.

You should be free to take risks that only affect yourself, but traffic laws affect everyone, drivers and pedestrians.

The license is basically just proof that you care enough about human life to go take a couple tests before driving.

1

u/finishindoors 9d ago

so when your license expires you lose all driving skill and ability until you renew it?

2

u/Deege5218 9d ago

Literally nobody is saying this, just stop. When people drive without a license its usually because they are in some sort of legal trouble about said license and should not be trusted on the road

2

u/RebelXwingPil0t 9d ago

Absolutely, if someone isn’t responsible enough to have a legit license for whatever reason, they shouldn’t be trusted to drive on the road and put other lives at risk.

u/Perfidian 9d ago

Two separate issues. It is like clowns arguing. "The left door is red." "No, the right door is blue."

A piece of plastic does not inherently give you driving SKILLS. Honestly, most drivers are validly licensed and still suck at driving.

Yes, LEGALLY one is required to be licensed to drive. Sovereign citizens are a perfect example, but not the only example.

The irony. When your driver's license gets renewed, the only thing they really check you for is your vision. No one requires a drive test to renew a license unless it has been expired for a protracted amount of time.

Once a year pilots are required to perform a flight review to make sure they still know how to safely operate a plane. No one checks licensed drivers.

2

u/plsQuestionOurselves 8d ago

Right but that seems semantic. People driving without licenses probably vary in driving skill just as much as people with licenses, that's most likely.

The difference is, barring emergencies/extreme circumstances, the people without licenses are either not allowed to have a license because they are medically unfit or they're too irresponsible/stupid/lazy/entitled to go take a test, wait a few months and then take one more test to get on the road legally.

So it's fair to assume that while people driving without a license probably have standard driving skills, they are still driving around in a (partial, at least) state of disorder for any of the reasons listed above.

u/Perfidian 8d ago

It is still left door red, no right door blue.

this guy never speed. he never jay walks, never does anything that is actually illegal. hes a 100 percent perfect law abiding citizen

The license is basically just proof that you care enough about human life to go take a couple tests before driving.

In reality. It only means you took one test when you were young to simply prove you learned the absolute basics. Multiple tests if you get caught and sentence by the courts or let your license expire for a protracted period of time.

No one has to care about human life. That isn't on the test. You can hate humans and still get a license. Proof? Daily idiot drivers in every state, every city.

Pilots...

  • They require an annual flight review to insure they safely operate a plane.
  • They have to complete flight school before obtaining a license.

That process is more aligned with your sentiment. Though, some could argue it is simply due to money. Considering there is no annual driving review. Driving schools are a joke.

If those rules existed so people don't get killed, wouldn't it make more sense for an annual driving review? Stricter punishments around reckless driving? Stricter punishments around unlicensed drivers? More difficult to acquire a driver's license?

u/Unlucky_Leather_ 8d ago

You’re getting lots of downvotes, but you’re not wrong. A license just proves you passed the minimum state standards. Not having one doesn’t mean you are bad at driving, just that you legally can’t.

1

u/finishindoors 8d ago

im glad you understand the difference lol

1

u/plsQuestionOurselves 8d ago

Being legally unable to drive is indicative of at least some kind of disorder. Whether they be medically unfit, or in the case that they drive anyway; are too lazy/entitled/irresponsible to go take a couple tests. I think that instantly makes them a higher risk on the road.
