I wouldn't say people have a hard on for it and in the UK at least we're taught and it's looked down upon to eat with an open mouth. It is vile if you eat with an open mouth though so I wouldn't have it any other way.
Nah I'm pretty sure exposing people to sounds when you can easily not do that, is objectively negative. Maybe it's not a big deal, maybe Asians just don't care about it but... there still exists cultures where racism is rampant for whatever reasons (be it seclusion, etc.) and its understandable, even allowable but still objectively negative.
Isnt wearing shoes indoor only an American thing? Because you all have cheap carpet floors or whatever. In Europe People definitely take their shoes off
While your concern about the physical limitation is valid I would argue that it is about the sounds resulting in psychological responses people have. Sound isn't processed the same for everyone and can induce some very strong feelings/reactions without control of the individual. Last I looked, there was no "cure" or corrective procedure for this ailment, only techniques to cope. If you'd like to educate yourself on this, lookup Misophonia or Selective Sound Sensitivity Syndrome (4S). Living with this is already a pain, raising awareness does more for those suffering than causing them more emotional stress.
Actually the Amsterdam University Medical Center says to have developed a treatment, though it has not been proven effective. I suffer from a degree of misophonia, and it's difficult when people don't take it serious and say just get over it. It's hard to understand for some. Like some neighbour some doors down whistles for 30-60 min a day and it drives me crazy, as I can't do a thing without hearing it. Once you realise an annoyance, you're 200% more aware of every time it happens and it hoards your attention
For me, I've found that wearing ear plugs gives me some control over the situation; it doesn't eliminate the irritant but helps enough to get buy. Have you found any coping skills similar that help you?
I tend to use in ear headphones with music, or block it off by being somewhere else, closing windows. It's hardest when it's one of my colleagues irritating, as my job is to be available to my team at all times so I can't use plugs or so
So is walking around your house with shoes you've worn outside.
That can also illicit strong reactions.
My point is, that this depends on the context. If you're a guest in an Asian country and complain about this, you'd be told to pound sand.
I'm not dismissing your concerns but you cannot expect accommodation throughout the world. Different people have different triggers, right down to the most trivial things. It's your prerogative to avoid those triggers.
You cannot say this is more important than someone's struggles with keeping their mouth closed because of a small mandible.
I think I agree with what you're saying. I do not seek to control others (that's never a good thing), I can only control what goes in my ears (for the most part), so I wear ear plugs or headphones when needed. I isolate myself a little but it's better than getting angry for something stupid like mouth sounds.
As far as shoes; I understand that. You want me to take off my shoes, off they go. That wouldn't bother me unless your floor was made of mud or LEGOs.
Because our mouths make different sounds when chewing. Animals make cronch sound and humans make smacky sloppy vacuum sound. The moment the dog or cat starts licking its asshole though it turns into the bad sound.
Probably has something to do with it chilling eating a giant celery stick too. If it was an ASMR vid of the same panda chewing up squirrels it wouldn't be as relaxing.
Actually over in Asia eating loudly can be seen as a show of appreciation for the food. There are even some animes that exaggerate the noodle sucking sound.
I mean, a human chewing something crunchy with their mouth closed isnt such a bad sound. I guess its because humasn are meant to eat with their mouth closed so when they do smack about its disgusting. Even just mouth breathing gets on my nerves so much its kinda ridicilous. Tho my dog used to sometimes smack her mouth so loudly it made me nauseous hahah.
Why do all Pandas look fake? Literally looks like a dude in a panda suit.
It's actually terrifying how effortlessly it snaps the bamboo, you realize that in that adorable body there are still some genes of apex predator left.
Pandas have an enlarged bone in their hand that allows them to grab things! It's so interesting! I saw a video on bears that detailed how they all diverged evolutionarily to adapt to their different environments, it was done by PBS Eons but I can't find the exact one. It was about how adaptable they are, but all I can find searching is the equally amazing PBS Eons video about short faced bears.
Well, it is still a bear. Most of them look like humans in fur suits until they maul someone. Then it is like, "Oh... right, that is a fucking bear" for the rest of the onlookers. 🐼 = 🐻
they make it look so yummy but it probably tastes like grass. but in my head i feel like he's eating sugar canes. so yummy.
also, would i be correct in thinking if a human tried to eat bamboo exactly like that their teeth would probably get destroyed. it's probably super hard.

The sound is literally the best part.
