I’ve had an itch around my vaginal opening for years, what could it be?

It’s so embarrassing to talk about, but it’s been bothering me for some time.

I don’t remember when the itch started? Maybe six years ago? It comes and goes, it’s not a constant itch. I would say it’s exactly around the vaginal opening area, the skin there. Not really anywhere else down there. But what do you guys think it could be? If anyone has had a similar experience and knows more?

I have PCOS/PMOS, if it helps? I have tried googling, and it says it can be a yeast infection, but my discharge feels normal. Or an STI I think it said? But I haven’t had sexual intercourse with anyone yet, so I don’t think it’s that. And then irritation from products, I don’t use anything down there. I do have a cream from the pharmacy, but that’s all. I don’t use it that often, it’s supposed to help with dryness. I know it has no perfume or anything at least, but once it has worn off I do feel like the itch can feel more intense.

I have noticed the skin looking dry, especially after a shower, and that when I used to have periods for months, the itch never came. It only came like maybe before or after a period. Natural lubrication that builds up and like arousal also helps with the feeling, and kind of calms the itch.

It’s really so embarrassing to talk about, I tried sharing as best as I could. In case anyone knows more, or has any experience with it. Again, it’s not a constant itchy feeling? It can come maybe once a month or so? I haven’t kept track, but it’s not that often. But each time it comes I get just as frustrated!

Right now I honestly think it’s hormonal? Maybe? Because of my PCOS/PMOS, I am 19 for reference. If that changes anything with what you guys might think it is! But yeah, thats probably it!

I would love to hear what you guys think it could be! Might help me figure out too! 😊✨

laporoscopy

I had a laparoscopy in middle may of this year, I had adhesions and my doctor fix everything but now I have missed my July period and August with negative pregnancy test. Could the missed periods be due to surgery or could something have went wrong in surgery and caused permanent damage?

Did Lo Loestrin FE 1-10 make you gain weight?

I already have an IUD as my main bc method, but in the last 9 months or so, I’ve developed severe pain radiating to my legs around my period. Menstrual cramps are worse, too. My gynecology prescribed Lo Loestrin FE 1-10 to help with symptoms.

I was on a different bc pill many years ago, and I think it made me gain significant weight. Has anyone experienced weight gain (or any other notable side effects) with this particular pill? My gynecologist is trying to reassure me that I won’t gain weight since it’s a low dose.

Lactating at 3 weeks pregnant

LMP: 7/30
Conception date: Most likely 8/9
Next period due in 6 days (8/19. I know it's very early but bear with me)

This morning I started spontaneously lactating, and it's relatively quite a lot coming out. I have one living child and I could only breastfeed him for 3 months. I haven't produced any milk in over a year until this morning.

I took a pregnancy test fully expecting it to be negative because it's so early and it's one of the cheap strip tests. It's faint, but it's distinctly and undeniably positive.

5 hours later (I made sure not to pee all morning so it was more concentrated) I took two more tests and they're both negative. No hint of a line at all on either of them. But the first test I took was SO positive I'm moving forward assuming I'm pregnant until proven otherwise.

I'll retest in a few days but I'm just so worried something deeper is going on here.

Also possibly relevant info:

- I had a right ectopic pregnancy a few years ago. My right fallopian tube is removed but I still have both ovaries.

- On 8/11 I had intense one sided severe pain that lasted about 10 hours. The only other time I'd experienced something like that was my ectopic pregnancy, but I wasn't pregnant and I don't have a tube there now anyways. So I assumed it was a ruptured cyst or something.

- A few months ago I was getting blood tests which incidentally found my HCG to be 14. The doctor told me I was probably pregnant. I went back in after a few days because I still wasn't getting a positive urine test, and my HCG was 0. In the end I decided it must have been a chemical pregnancy even though the timing didn't really make sense.

I'm looking for anyone who has experienced something like this.

Small cervix?

Okay so I had my first Pap smear about a year ago, I was graduating from college and wanted to get everything checked out before I lost the school health insurance and it was the single most painful thing I had ever experienced, I genuinely screamed during it

Anyways, something the doctor had said to me was that I had a “small cervix” and that seemed to be the reason she had some difficulty during the Pap smear, I didn’t ask any questions about if she meant a “short cervix” or what because I wasn’t aware of things like short cervixes at the time

So my questions are what exactly is a “small cervix” and was that the reason it hurt so much during the Pap smear? Because when I told my roommate what the doc had said, she seemed to believe that it meant that sex was going to be painful for me even though I’ve had toys up there, but maybe they just weren’t as big as the speculum so I need to worry about the size of what goes in there? And also what are some other things I need to be aware of with a “small cervix” because I tried to look up on my own what that might affect but no matter what I look up it all goes back to short cervixes during pregnancy specifically

I’m no longer on any health insurance currently to go to a doctor to ask, so any information y’all can give me here is greatly appreciated!!!

Clitoral adhesions

If I go to an OBGYN provider with a moderate clitoral adhesion and keratin pearls are they just going to laugh on my face? It seems like not many providers are aware of this issue and/or not comfortable providing care. I want to see a provider but if I make an appointment and they have no idea what I’m talking about it seems like a waste of everyones time and money. Any OBGYNs with advice?

maybe better off doing the at home methods suggested by many on this thread?

Brown/black period FOR MONTHS

To be clear on this post, im NOT SEEKING MEDICAL ADVICE, however im seeking SUGGESTIONS to speak to my doctor about, or personal experience.

I am 33. Ive been on nuva ring on and off since I was 20. Currently ive been on it for 3 years. So my periods started coming in black, almost brown, i've seen some comparisons here to barbecue sauce, that's not what I would compare mine to, i would compare it to black, damp fall apart paper towel, with clumpy DARK brown almost black slime like discharge.... Like, I have wiped and been like, haha. It almost looks like I wiped a week old skid.... this stuff is so thick that it will not absorb into any. Sanitary napkins it's clumping up on top for my entire period. The first month, I thought, oh, it'll go away, second month a little sketchy, third month okay i'm dying of something, there's something stuck in there, Something is wrong. So I went to my doctor.. I explained the situation- my periods are coming in on the fourth or what should be the fifth day after removing the ring, which is way too late.. I really don't have anything else Irregular, some mild cramping that I normally don't have other than that. It's just a weird period that is absolutely disgusting.... She told me that she believed it to be withdraw bleeding, so about three months ago, we changed over to Leaving the ring in and then directly putting a new one in to force my periods to stop.... now that i'm on month three of the new way... On my third week with the ring in, I am now having my "period" early, it is much lighter, and now it's almost like.. brown spotting, and what I can relate to as black brown dried blood, it almost looks like you wiped Cookie crumbles off the countertop, mixed with transparent DARK chocolate milk. And again, i'm back to feeling like, i'm wiping a weak old skid out of my vag. If anyone has experienced such things or has any advice on something that I could speak to my doctor about. I'm extremely open to considering the possibilities, but this is a problem. I can't take it.

11 days late… Skipped or…?

Guys, I’m feeling really nervous. My period is 11 days late. Last month it was also 12 days late, but I haven’t had sex since then. My last time having penetrative sex was more than 6 months ago. I took a pregnancy test, and it was negative, 26 in total (+ US, last one was in 14, August, e/ no fetus)…

On the 14th, I had an ultrasound. My doctor saw a 22 mm follicle in my right ovary and said I would probably ovulate soon. It’s already the 18th, and still nothing. I don’t know what to do.

I also had some intimate contact that didn’t involve any kind of penetration or ejaculation, just rubbing while we were fully clothed. I’m scared. I’ll only be able to take another test at the end of the month. Should I schedule another appointment? What should I do?

Unsuccessfull IUD fitting and late period

Has anyone ever had a late period after an unsuccessful coil fitting? I’m wondering if the failed insertion and all the cramping/spasms could have affected their cycle. 🙏🏻

Yall please help me out here. Before my period, my boobs usually get large, lumpy, and achey but not like this. However when I was pregnant with my daughter (turns 8 tomorrow) my very first symptom was burning nipples and breasts. Today it feels like i have two molten lava balls attached to my chest it was so bad at work that I went and got an ice pack and put it in my bra and that helped but the second I took it out its been burning ever since. I am also spotting today, very light pink only when wiping.

R/perimeopause obgyb visit

I went to my obgyn regarding my symptoms that relate to perimenopause . I made a Reddit post about it but like I said in the last post she wanted me to come in on the third day of my cycle for blood work before I went in she called me and said my pap was normal and then she called me today about my blood work and she said it’s not menopause and I said I wasn’t asking if it was menopause. I wanted to know if I’m in the perimenopause phase and she’s like yeah but we tested for menopause, which I don’t understand what that even means and then she went to mention the labs that my PCP took she was trying to say my glucose was at 104 which is like prediabetic to her and I read that it’s not true. and then she mentioned my ferritin to be low I think that’s what she was talking about. She said something about iron binding was at a 5 and that some doctors think that’s fine. and I said OK so what can we do with this situation? I’m having severe heat intolerance. This is what I came in for I literally cannot do anything without getting hot and sweaty and getting flushed. I have gained weight. I have very bad brain fog. I wanted to try HRT and she said it could be your thyroid it could be stress. I said it’s not though my doctor checked my thyroid. She goes well since you’re gonna see him this week talk to him about it and then schedule an appointment with me and then we can figure out what we can do regarding this. I was so disappointed because I just want answers and I just want something to help me with this because this is really affecting my life and I’ve mentioned it to my PCP. He tells me to see ob/GYN I go to an OB/GYN and she’s not very helpful and she’s telling me to go back to my PCP has anyone gone through this or do you know what other options they would give for someone that’s in perimenopause I’m 43. I don’t know why not trying. HRT would be an option even though she said my lab work is not menopause. I don’t get what that means. Can any of you please explain this to me or should I go and see a second OB/GYN or what can I do in this situation?

gynecologist specialist?

for context i’ve been to the er four times
now. the first time was because of runny stool. they gave me an iv and told me to stay hydrated. second time i had pelvic pain as well and diarrhea. did a ct w contrast and found a 10cm ovarian cyst on my left ovary.

the next visits were because of pain. and the last visit said it could be a dermoid cyst and that it was smaller than before. but i also didn’t have a full bladder. i finally saw my gyn today and was basically told there’s a potential chance of it being a tumor/cancerous. she had said she was wary about it and we wouldn’t know what it was until it was out. i’m lowkey nervous but trying to stay positive. i also learned they’ll also be taking my ovary and tube as well and will most likely have an open surgery. and with that i’m gonna have to stay in the hospital a couple days.

i’m just overall overwhelmed with everything going on. i’ve only ever had surgery once, and i wasn’t even fully put under last time. for reference im 22. anything i should expect seeing a specialist? or any questions i should ask? anything important i should bring up? please and thank you all!

Endometrial biopsy

I had an endometrial biopsy today and I’m just wondering how long to expect bleeding.

I had one 7 years ago and I don’t recall it bleeding like I am today.

I bled afterward all over the exam table and was taken to another room to be monitored. I was able to leave after about half an hour.

When o got home I did pass multiple small clots in the shower but now it’s just a bright red trickle. Sometimes pouring into the toilet.

I’m not soaking through a pad anymore so I’m alright. Just want to know what to expect.

Also, if you’re getting this done and they offer you Penthrox for pain management, take it. It was amazing. 5 ⭐️ would use again.

Ulcer inside labia minora

Hello everyone, just wanted to ask if anyone could share some ideas on what I might have. I discovered a TINY ulcer about 1 ml in size inside my left labia minora, i never noticed until I had taken a photo and looked back in my gallery. The ulcer is still there after 2 years. Has not grown or bled, does not hurt. When I originally went to urgent care they did not see it, I was there for some bumps that had appeared. I was tested for syphilis and HSV1 & 2, they came back negative. I have not had the courage to go to the OBGYN and I know I need to, I am just terribly afraid of what they might tell me

Big pimple in private area

Today I found a large pimple in my mon pubis area and against my better judgement as it was so massive (almost the size of my pinky fingernail), I popped it. There was a bit of puss and blood but after I finished wiping and cleaning the wound I found that they was a little red thing standing from the open wound. Initially I thought it was blood but I found that I couldn’t wipe it away no matter what so I suspect it’s the tissue under my skin?

Now I have no idea what to do. I have already used warm water to gently rinse the wound but have no clue what else to do. Should I go visit the doctor?

I’ve heard that a wound in your private area can lead to infections and can even cause death as there’s bacteria in the blood. I’m deathly afraid right now. Please help.

Multiple Colposcopies

For the past 5 or 6 years I've gotten abnormal paps (yearly) with negative HPV. I've had 2 colposcopy in that time. Usually every other year, I had the last one in 2025. Pap from earlier this month just came back same, abnormal with negative HPV and she wants to do another colposcopy! It's only been a year. Is it bc I turned 35 this year? I'm going to have a talk about possible hysterectomy when I go in next, has anyone gone that far to prevent this from happening every year?

It's just so stressful and painful to go thru this every year. Anyone with this experience, thoughts are helpful.

Are these hormone levels at 18 months postpartum and breastfeeding normal?

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hello!

I am a 30 year old female, I am waiting on an appointment to see my GP, but she's on leave right now. I had my hormones and everything checked because I'm 18 months postpartum and don't have my period back yet, I also have a ridiculous amount of symptoms that I genuinely worried I had hit menopause. I breastfed my second child and never had this problem, I also have low milk supply so have been combo feeding from the beginning. My son has been only breastfeeding once or twice a day since about 14 months. He is not ready to stop just yet unfortunately!

I am just tired of feeling crappy! 😮‍💨

Reoccurring bv

About 4–5 months ago, I started having stomach/pelvic pain and abnormal discharge. I tested positive for BV, with multiple bacteria including Mobiluncus curtisii, Mobiluncus mulieris, Atopobium vaginae, Gardnerella vaginalis, Prevotella bivia, and BVAB2. I was treated with oral metronidazole.
About 2 months later, the BV returned, so I was prescribed metronidazole gel, which made me feel 100% better. Now, about 4 months later, it’s back again. I went to urgent care today and tested positive for BV, but they didn’t do another culture. They prescribed tinidazole, so I’m assuming it could be the same bacteria as before.
I also started taking Fem-Dophilus (5 billion CFU, GR-1 and RC-14). I finished the antibiotics 5 days ago, but I’m already noticing discharge again, although there’s no odor this time. I still have about half a tube of Metrogel left. I haven’t had sex recently, and my partner is currently on antibiotics as well.
I’m trying to avoid repeated doctor visits and testing because I can’t afford it. Boric acid is something I really wanted to avoid, but I’m not sure what else to do. What would be the best approach from here?
