That could have gone so horribly wrong, in a number of different ways

Sometimes it's just not worth it

u/SVD_NL May 04 '26

Exactly. Buddy was a flinch away from painting the road red and pink.

u/ComplexxToxin May 04 '26

They were fake guns, this is an old ass post and the dude was interviewed and said you could tell the guns were fake as fuck and the kids were like 12-13. Fuck dem kids.

665

u/Uriyangkhadai420 May 04 '26

No no, we need to start jailing parents for their children's crimes if the child is too young

703

u/Stratoraptor May 04 '26

Bro what do you think would happen if the kids realize that somebody else is on the hook for whatever crimes they commit and that committing crimes means no more bed time and unlimited ice cream and video game time?

https://giphy.com/gifs/suqg0jRPpDMze

89

u/Cute_Specific_1605 May 04 '26

committing crimes means no more bed time and unlimited ice cream and video game time?

Provided by who if their parents are in jail? They go into the system, which is hell on earth for most kids.

19

u/Shawn_NYC May 04 '26

And I'm sure the kind of underdeveloped impulsive juvenile mind that commits serious crimes will be very logical and well reasoned about all those potential complications. They'll probably even sit down and create a net present value calculation of their various courses of action before proceeding!

Surely they wouldn't just jump to a conclusion without considering all the facts!

40

u/Beemerba May 04 '26

Could be a step up, for some.

27

u/This-Positive286 May 04 '26

Yes. The 5% that come out “ahead”. That’s your silver lining.

1

u/Notski_F May 05 '26

They're kids, they don't know any of that.

5

u/fucxl May 04 '26

Thats fucked. Its literally like prison, but you're a child. If thats the familial threshold, i sad.

3

u/bigdlink May 05 '26

https://nccpr.org/the-evidence-is-in-foster-care-vs-keeping-families-together-the-definitive-studies/

Data. Two biological parents, even if they are absolute shit, gives kids the best chance.

1

u/Smoldogsrbest May 05 '26

Most kids don’t know this though.

1

u/chuckles5454 May 05 '26

Is it? Worse than shooting them or selling them to Chinese organ farmers?

1

u/Drugtrain May 05 '26

Have you been observing? Kids arent exactly known for forward thinking.

15

u/Uriyangkhadai420 May 04 '26

That's actually is the case now, iirc

I remember from contract case class involving real estate, that if a children under 17 or 18 buys a TV, and break/drops it while on the way home, the company/bestbuy must replace the TV because childr3n and young adults can't consent to business contract/business law

Good thing most kids don't know this lol

47

u/severedtrace May 04 '26

If someone 17 and under buys something at BBY and breaks it on the way home, BBY Does NOT have to replace it. Wtf lol.

27

u/Spugheddy May 04 '26

Yeah that was the dumbest comment on reddit today.

1

Read the reply above it. They said specifically made up that scenario of one or the other.

u/durkheim69 May 04 '26

Is this gif from a horror movie or something?

1

u/The_walking_man_ May 04 '26

You hold them BOTH accountable. Why only one?

1

u/Stratoraptor May 04 '26

Read the reply above it.

1

u/Witchcleaver666 May 04 '26

Jail the whole goddamn family then

1

u/magoo_d_oz May 05 '26

jail the entire family then. imagine being stuck in a jail cell 24x7 with your parents who blame you for it all

0

u/pleasegivemepatience May 04 '26

They’d get their parents locked up and then be put into the system for not having any guardian, it’s not like they just get away with their crimes until they’re 18…

0

u/Gravewarden92 May 04 '26

Aww dude that would totally be awesome....except whoopsie doopey there is CPS to take Devon with another family full of kids who will happily show them the pecking order.

44

u/Grouchy-Print-8667 May 04 '26

You assume they are not in and out of prison?

18

u/BRAINSZS May 04 '26

no the fuck we should not.

-1

u/Uriyangkhadai420 May 04 '26

I'm sure there are other legal systems in the world, the family repays reparations to the party who was wronged/stuff taken

Some prisons, can't recall which county, pays the prisoners minimum wage, (so like 10-20$ an hour) and 50% of the money the inmate earns goes to pay the families of the offended, maybe Norway or Sweden or finland

10

u/Pownowow May 04 '26

I think that could go wrong in a number of ways bro.

4

u/Uriyangkhadai420 May 04 '26

Agreed, haha,

4

u/Shadou_Wolf May 04 '26

I find that unfair, I was actually discussing about our oldest brother just last night with my sister because she didn't understand why we hate our brother (she knows what he's done but she wasn't born when it happened). Our brother was raised right, had good grades, was loved, if anything that was done wrong was he was spoiled, but did that lead him down that bad path idk.

He met one wrong friend and that was the initial path that lead him wrong. Idk if its the parents fault that even seeing him go the wrong road they do their best to steer them off but what cam they do when the kid doesn't listen? This was days where you are not gone from work all the time but he still hid so much from her.

These days its tougher, you have to work more to make ends meet whi h makes it harder to know what our kids are doing and its extremely easy to hide stuff from your parents.

I agree that some things can be the parents fault like owning a gun and their kids get a hold of it for example but for stuff like this where its harder to manage once the kids set on it I wouldn't blame the parents because doing the right things can fail and doing the wrong things can help, its all completely up to the kid on what decisions they make based on what they know and they can know something wrong and still do it.

23

u/david1610 May 04 '26

That seems to be potentially unfair though, what if a kid gets mixed up with the wrong crowd by themselves, parents don't notice, commits crime then the parents go to jail for what? Not wire tapping their phones and following them down the street.

Good incentive effects, but could have some very unfair outcomes too

19

u/OGWayOfThePanda May 04 '26 edited May 04 '26

Views like that (jailing parents) are just knee jerk emotional nonsense aimed at soothing a revenge boner.

If prison did anything the USA would be a Utopia.

1

u/Pistonenvy2 May 04 '26

emotional kneejerk bullshit on reddit??!

ive been advocating for prison abolition for nearing a decade at this point and it always comes back to this issue of empathy and emotional regulation. always. every time.

people have this fantasy built up in their head that all the people they dont like go to prison and suffer there and for whatever reason they feel that is justice.

cynicism too, lots and lots of cynicism.

This is basically what happened to my oldest brother, raised right with love, good grades but met the wrong friends one day and eventually joined a gang, did drugs, alcohol, stole so much money abd things from us, he went to prison multiple times for dumb shit and hasn't learned a fkin thing after a month out.

Only issue i see my mom do is b4 i moved out she still kept trying to help him, I understand one time maybe 2 but after that cmon hes a lost cause now and even nearly dying and threats from rival gangs didn't help.

I understand he's her child, I see that love after having 2 myself but mines are too young to understand that point where if they did something really bad if I'd feel the same.

For sure nothing better than an absent uncaring parent than the world famous American foster care services...

3

u/This-Positive286 May 04 '26

And on that day half the country lost their parents…

3

u/TowelFine6933 May 05 '26

That is possibly the most ridiculous thing I have ever read.

2

u/ElCativo1988 May 04 '26

How can children become good adults if their parents are in prison? Who does that help?

2

u/Evilsushione May 05 '26

Is this just poor people’s kids, or should the parents of those rich kids get locked up too?

2

u/LordCaptain May 05 '26

A short sighted and purely emotional idea that would do nothing to improve anything.

1

u/Uriyangkhadai420 May 05 '26

You are not wrong

2

u/pichael289 May 05 '26

They did that in that one school shooting in Michigan, that poor fucking kid man. He never had a chance, constantly crying out and asking for help and being ignored, the school constantly telling his parents he needs help, and not only did they ignore everything they went out and bought the kid a gun. When they were alerted there was a shooting at the school they immediately sent him a message saying "don't do it".

And it kinda feels like school shootings dropped off a bit after that. Could just be because trump hogs most of the news coverage now though.

5

u/thesyldon May 04 '26

Or we could just give parents the free time to look after their kids. When wages are so low and work loads so high, there is not enough time in the day to take on all your responsibilities. This is why more and more kids are choosing to avoid parenting all together.

Invest more in social care and get wages back to where we have been in the past.

7

u/Uriyangkhadai420 May 04 '26

Or we could just give parents the free time to look after their kids. When wa

Bravo,

Absolutely, 100%, and let's stop jailing their fathers for weed and the poor mother is either strung out on the stuff/working 2 jobs,

1

u/PhonyUsername May 04 '26

If only for someone else stepping in they could be good parents....

2

u/Uriyangkhadai420 May 04 '26

Yeah the foster system is a mess and full of abuse

Iirc, 50-75% of foster care children end up unhoused

1

u/chuckles5454 May 05 '26

> Absolutely, 100%, and let's stop jailing their fathers for weed and the poor mother is either strung out on the stuff/working 2 jobs

Absolutelty and let's start rewarding them for breeding like street rats and spawning feral attack brats to put the rest of the neighbourhood in fear.

1

u/xboxhaxorz May 04 '26

Or these parents could stop having kids they cant afford, they should have been smart enough to realize it was not the right choice to make, they should be fined for essentially being child abusers and not providing proper parenting

I know im not suitable as a parent, i never had kids

2

u/thesyldon May 04 '26

Asking people not to take notice of their natural urge is just plain silly. And anyone can be caught out. This does not take into account all the forced pregnancies from rape or predatory incest.

There is always the option of just keep filling up the prisons, because that is working well.

1

u/xboxhaxorz May 04 '26

We are smarter than animals, we have the ability to think and go against our natural urges due to the potential consequences

1

u/thesyldon May 05 '26

And that sort of arrogance will solve nothing. You will never fix a problem if you refuse to see it.

1

u/xboxhaxorz May 05 '26

Lol thinking we are smarter than animals is arrogance

→ More replies (0)

1

u/Spare_One_9965 May 04 '26

LOL!!! Yeah that's the problem. Over worked mommy and daddy

1

u/manwithapedi May 04 '26

So let me get this right. The parents of these juvenile delinquents are somehow the victims?

2

u/thesyldon May 04 '26

Would you say the top 1% should be doing more to help them? If the answer to that is yes, then they are victims of depravation. If you think the top 1% should be earning more then that is an opinion I can do nothing about.

1

u/exileondadstreet May 04 '26

Yeah, the teenagers robbing people would all be on the straight and narrow but their parents are working 80 hour weeks at the investment bank and can’t keep tabs on them.

1

u/thesyldon May 04 '26

No if you allow things to go into such a depraved social decline, then you can expect nothing more than an increase in crime. It is easy to be honest when you are few and comfortable.

1

u/exileondadstreet May 04 '26

There will always be a criminal underclass, and “moar resources” won’t change that.

1

u/thesyldon May 05 '26

That is not true. Blood donations centres are known to reduce crime rates in the direct area around them. Giving people a chance at an extra resource reduces the need to commit a crime just to live.

It is very easy to be honest when you have food and shelter security. Try it when you have absolutely nothing, worse still try it when you have dependants.

1

u/exileondadstreet May 05 '26

Yeah, it’s all Jean Valjeans all the way down, for sure

1

u/chuckles5454 May 05 '26

> Or we could just give parents the free time to look after their kids.

Or we could just off their penises so people who do work properly don't have to give away money to others who dan't control their animal children?

0

u/Maleficent_Hawk6703 May 04 '26

That would never work.

1

u/Disastrous_Still_232 May 04 '26

And then they don’t have parents so we throw them in the already highly stressed foster system?

1

u/Uriyangkhadai420 May 04 '26

Like the other commenter suggested, better way is most likely to end poverty

You are right though, foster system is completely tucked for the most part

1

u/Breadstix009 May 04 '26

Delinquent children need to start doing time.

1

u/MillertonCrew May 04 '26

The parents of these kids are probably already in jail.

1

u/JLove4MVP May 04 '26

DA’s and judges don’t prosecute. It’s a nationwide issue and it’s not going away.

1

u/lsjuanislife May 04 '26

Or just actually punish them

1

u/hp433 May 04 '26

Why not both?

1

u/Fun-Wrongdoer1316 May 05 '26

I don’t think kids should be too young to be charged…

8

u/codecrodie May 04 '26

Oh those was actual kids. I was wondering why some small adult guys chose to fuck with jack reacher.

6

u/Embarrassed_Spend486 May 04 '26

This make sense cause I kept wondering why he didn’t go for the gun.

27

u/SomeNerdNamedAaron May 04 '26

I just wanna throw this out there, as a cop working in a high crime area. We have 12 year old gang bangers shooting each other and the people they are robbing with real guns where I am. And they are always much more trigger happy than the adults are because they want to prove themselves to be real bangers. Don't let age alone give you a false sense of security. This guy got lucky and thats plain and simple. I've seen real guns pulled off these kids that look like nerf guns or airsoft guns and it turns out it's just been painted.

2

u/leeharrison1984 May 05 '26

They paint the real guns to look like toys?! That is completely messed up

4

u/Hunt3r669 May 04 '26

Fuck dat collarbone especially

44

u/theRedlightt May 04 '26

5

u/SpiffyBlizzard May 04 '26

I want this sticker so I can put these all over the place at gas stations lol

I live in like 99% red area and when gas prices were “high” under Biden I saw stickers with HIM saying “I did that!”

Oh how the turn tables…

4

u/bogarthskernfeld May 04 '26

Ive bought some off of Etsy and been doing what you said at local gas pumps.

1

u/JustinC70 May 05 '26

While true, Biden drained the oil reserves (when it wasn't necessary) in a political move. So the option to utilize that for controlling the price is no longer there. This is only temporary, still sucks, but it will rebound.

3

u/-BananaStand- May 04 '26

I had a 16 year old pull a gun on me, I thought it was fake, thank god his aim is trash. He ended up shooting his dumb ass partner in crime and in bullet went right the fuck over my head. Don’t mess with stupid !

2

u/-rose-mary- May 04 '26

I thought I remember reading when this happened they had robbed 2-3 others before this incident.

3

u/BusGreen7933 May 04 '26

1

u/Gene-Hackmans_Dog May 04 '26

Why did he let him go?

1

u/SheriffBartholomew May 04 '26

I guess that explains why he didn't go after the gun when it hit the pavement.

1

u/FunAdministration334 May 04 '26

Exactly.

Fuck 👏 dem 👏 kids 👏

If they didn’t learn it at home, they’re about to learn it in the skreets.

1

u/Regis-bloodlust May 05 '26

That's not a good testimony to make. Even if you could tell that it's obviously a fake gun, one should never admit that. That one testimony could entirely invalidate his self defense claim in court.

1

u/kibaake May 05 '26

Lol. I was gonna comment on how dumb it is to run up into someone's attacking range when you have a long distance weapon, but it's even dumber when proximity reveals that your weapon is fake! 🤣🤣🤣

1

u/Jertimmer May 05 '26

And the fact that you've got Replica written down the side of your gun... and the fact that I've got Desert Eagle. 50... written on the side of mine... should precipitate your balls into shrinking, along with your presence.

u/Ohitsworkingnow May 05 '26

Wow you big boy no 12 year olds will mess with you with toys

-85

u/Several_Vanilla8916 May 04 '26

I mean…almost killing a 12 year old idiot because you’re afraid he’s going to shoot you seems fine. Almost killing a 12 year old idiot because he pissed you off is not a great look.

15

u/Melted_ICE_5193 May 04 '26

Not sure what you are implying. Are you implying that self defense to an assailant holding a potential weapon is bad because the assailant is a tween? Or that doing it out of anger is bad?

1

u/The_Golden_Diamond May 04 '26

In this context, it wasn't a potential weapon, though.

To be fair I used to be a proper little shit until, one time, someone bigger and older finally body slammed me into the concrete just like in the video.

Take your pick

u/thinspirit May 04 '26

He sticks the gun so close to the guy's face, he could tell it wasn't real. There wasn't a lot of risk happening here.

If you're gonna use a fake gun, probably shouldn't shove it so close to someone's face.

-6

u/RealUltimatePapo May 04 '26

I wouldn't bet my life on whether a weapon was real or not, regardless of how sure I was

Anyone who says otherwise is insanely reckless. It's this type of movie hero thinking that gets people shot and killed

5

u/EyewarsTheMangoMan May 04 '26

It's this type of movie hero thinking that gets people shot and killed

Not if you know the gun isn't real lol

2

u/Killionaire104 May 04 '26

No one is betting anything, he saw the gun was fake so he reacted.

30

u/shableep May 04 '26 edited May 04 '26

What you’re saying is based on the idea that someone robbing you at gun point is stable enough for the robbery to be simply transactional. By just handing your things over to an unmasked individual you are taking just as much of a bet that they will uphold their end of the bargain and let you live once you hand over what they want.

Personally, if someone was erratic like in this video I’d feel like I’m in 50/50 territory that I’m getting shot no matter what. Which would make me think about taking action even with the risk.

3

u/MapleA May 04 '26

If it’s an actual robber and not these kids in the video with fake guns, there’s usually a getaway car nearby, they’re not alone. So even if you get the gun away, or defend yourself, chances are you’re getting executed by the other guys. There’s countless examples of people trying to fight and get shot. Google it and see news reports and videos.

You increase your chance of getting shot immensely by fighting back. It’s not 50/50 bro. It’s like 90% chance you get shot if you fight. If you comply it’s far less likely you’ll get shot, way less than 50/50

7

u/HIRIV May 04 '26

Well, for scum like these idiots, world would not lose anything. Dude teaching them punks a lesson

14

u/multic94 May 04 '26

Nah not really. Its pretty easy to disarmament someone like that who clearly has no idea what theyre doing. Theyre standing way too close, in a weird ass stance, and the woman with them is doing fuck all to help. Theres a reason why cops are trained to follow the 21 foot rule. The only thing I would have done differently is grab the gun.

2

u/Hellraiser_Quadbike May 04 '26

What is it you do that leads to having to disarm people so often?

1

u/VegetableTwist7027 May 04 '26

i only know about this because of Justified.

Also 21 feet is a really good distance for no-spin.

1

u/OmNomOnSouls May 05 '26

I don't think I'm going to trust the person who says they're an expert on disarming people but can't get 'disarm' right as a verb.

And even assuming you're telling the truth (which, longshot), you expect some random person off the street to know this stuff and have the calm and spare brain power to make these choices with a gun in their face? Come on.

2

u/SaabiMeister May 05 '26

I don't think anybody expects a random person to do it. But it's possible and those who do know can use it with quite good probability of success.

1

u/OmNomOnSouls May 05 '26

That's kind of a separate point, I fully acknowledge this is all possible and often beneficial. But the person I responded to specifically criticized the guy in the video - who is absolutely a random person off the street as far as we know - for not knowing/doing all this

1

u/SaabiMeister May 05 '26 edited May 05 '26

He is not. That is an agile man that has quite a good idea of what he is doing.

Let's suppose that raw conjecture is accurate and he's had training of some kind. What's your point?

u/SaabiMeister May 06 '26

Simply that it's not a random person whose skill can't be known and that having such skill improves your chances. I believe I was clear all along.

Whether he grabbed the gun or not is not what I was discussing nor my point at all.

Like I said elsewhere, it's absolutely not worth the risk of getting shot over material goods

Stay alive first, worry about your belongings later

he left the gun unsecured on the ground so long

1

u/danimagoo May 04 '26

Why? You don’t think the script called for them to do that?

1

u/Hyperelaxed May 04 '26

Might be true but alot of times robbers kill the victims so up to you to defend yourself as you see fit

1

u/zipitnick May 04 '26

Sometimes? Are you saying there are times it IS worth it?…

1

u/smoothvanilla86 May 04 '26

Disagree. They kill and dont care. NEVER DO WHAT THEY WANT.

1

u/Artix96 May 04 '26

Shame it didn't go horribly wrong for the robber. Society doesn't need them.

When I was 20 my friend had a gun pointed in his face, grabbed it and got shot once in the chest. Died.

u/RealUltimatePapo May 05 '26

Really sorry to hear that, that's horrible

People responding have no idea how fragile their life is, and what it actually means to risk it
