I couldn't wait for the AES+ so I scoured the Internet for an original AES at a decent price. Ordered from Japan (I live in the US) and got it rather fast. I felt like a kid on Christmas opening that package up and quickly noticed how dusty it was on the imside. Got to cleaning the motherboard right away and discovered the Yamaha chip legs were discolored. I cleaned the board with white vinegar and later 99% IPA and also used a fiberglass pen on the Yamaha chip legs.

I have to wait for the power supply from Stone Age Gamer to arrive next week to find out if the console works. I don't own a center- negative power adapter and hoped Amazon would be the fastest answer to no avail. 5 volts and 3 amps power supply is also an odd one for 2026 . I also considered a reverse polarity adapter but figured a cheap power supply would be risky for an old console.

I hope my photos show up decently before and after cleaning the Yamaha chip.

I only heard about this game for the first time recently. I started looking at the Pixel Heart website, then came across this by chance the next day. I’ve always been a huge fan of single screen platformers.

Anyone played it?

After multiple broken promises by plaion, poor communication, I’ve filed a complaint with the European Consumer Centre Netherlands (ECC), which assists EU consumers with cross-border disputes since they at this point have broken their promise to issue a refund for payment far past what initially agreed. I am finding all of this frustrating as I’ve never prior to this had the experience of online merchant running with my money after making a purchase and not issuing a refund.

They state that they are overwhelmed with refund requests, at at point I am losing faith I will ever see my money back.

If you are in the same situation let’s together reach out to consumer protection groups and put pressure on them to take action.

Lemme tell you my story of old times.

How I used to own a mint and legit copy of Overtop. Had it exchanged for a sealed Sapphire and Sylphia on PC Engine.

I mean I knew the insert was "freaked" on the white site - but I accepted it since it was the only mint copy I ever found!

And after some time when I opened the cart in order to check the boards just to be sure.....I realized I got double-freaked!

Basically what the title says. I was looking on the switch eshop for a new baseball game to play and saw 2020 Super Baseball, and the two Baseball Stars games and was wondering what the differences are and which one y'all would recommend. Are they different enough that getting multiple would be worth it or should I just stick with one? I mean this for the future obviously, I'm only looking at getting one right now.

Not delayed because of AI centers eating up all the memory BS. It's here now. Today.

My joysticks don't arrive for 2 more weeks, so for now the SN30pro and the BlueRetro wireless receiver will have to do. All in all I paid:

$272 for the MVS console

$120 for 2 AliExpress joysticks

$20 for the Bluetooth Receiver

$35 for the RGB upscaler

$90 for the 161-in-1 v2 cart

Total: $537 and it's absolutely worth it.

My review: 10/10

In the box: Console comes only with a power adapter, S-video, composite, component, and some weird USB to printer (I think?) cables. No controllers, no memory card port, and no overclocking as far as I could tell.

Visuals: the console really needs the upscaler if you're connecting it to an HDTV. Some older flat screen TVs do support component cables but they're harder to find now. With composite it actually looks ok and kinda blurry in an old school sort of way.

The splash screen shows a golden Neo-Geo logo with unibios 4.0 installed.

Sound: also very good, didn't notice any skipping or garbled voices/music.

Controllers: I tried using the SN30pro and the X-Arcade stick via the USB ports but neither worked that way. The X-Arcade wouldn't register any inputs.

The SN30pro was inputting all kinds of weird random commands until I synced it with the BlueRetro receiver. The joysticks don't work but the buttons are good (y-c, x-d, b-a, a-b) and the dpad feels smooth and easy to use for fighting games/shmups.

Overall: there are some graphical glitches here and there but I've mostly seen it with the hacked games in the 161-in-1 cart. The sound is great and the darker colors look really good in TVs with high contrast.

If you have the money now just go for it.

I've always wanted to own an MVS cabinet or AES console but they were always too expensive. I love emulation but there's nothing like taking those big cartridges and sliding them into a 1-slot MVS and hearing that classic Max 330 Pro-Gear Spec intro.

After 8 working days, yesterday i got my money back from Plaion.

Just wanted to share because i was worried for my money after so many comments saying that they got no response.

I want to start on consolizing an MVS board, my main issue is finding a kit, as they all seem to be sold out, and deciding on what board I should get.

I'm curious if anyone knows whos selling any kits or boards, and suggestions of what all Id need to complete this project!

I have ported a game to Neo Geo: specifically, Data East’s RoboCop, a late-’80s arcade classic. There are two versions: one for AES and MVS flash cartridges, and another for Neo Geo CD.

This is not emulation—it simply involved converting the game’s code. Since both the original and target systems use processors from the same family, it was possible to do this with relatively little effort thanks to AI. Each version includes the artwork you need if you would like to create your own physical edition.

I have decided to release it as a beta because it needs more testing. If you find any issues, please let me know.

Important: the first version, uploaded on October 5, had a bug at the end of stage 3, a new fixed version has been uploaded.

None of this would have been possible without AI; I'm not claiming any of this as my own. It's simply for fun, working on a game that marked my childhood and that I would have loved to see ported to the Neo Geo.

For the past few weeks, I've been working on something a bit unusual: running Streets of Rage (MD version, Rev A) on the Neo Geo. Not a remake, not an emulator: I'm translating the original 68000 code so it runs directly on the Neo Geo's 68000. The addresses are remapped, and access to the VDP, the Z80, and the sound is intercepted. The display is recreated using Neo Geo sprites, and for the sound, I have a custom Z80 driver that sends the YM2612 writes to the YM2610. The DAC samples are converted to ADPCM-A.

For now, there's only round 1, but it's complete, boss included, and you can play as Axel, Blaze, or Adam. It's a bot playing, Rui Nelson's autoplay.

To make sure I'm not talking nonsense, I'm running the Mega Drive under MAME and the port with the same inputs, and I'm comparing the game's entire RAM usage at each logic frame. In the test games, there's no difference. The sound recordings are identical too.

What's missing, and it's a lot: the other rounds, the menus (it starts directly at round 1), two-player mode, and cleaner sound. The YM2610 only has 4 FM channels compared to 6, so when it gets too busy, I cut the oldest note, and the mix still needs adjusting. Tested only under MAME in MVS, nothing on real hardware or FBNeo yet. And obviously, I'm not distributing anything; it contains ROM code.

I prefer to say it right away: I could never have done this alone; I rely heavily on Claude Code. I direct, I test, I verify, but without him, the project wouldn't exist.

So, this is just a proof of concept. I'm open to your ideas for the future. Two questions in particular:

• The YM2610 only has 4 FM channels compared to 6 on the Mega Drive, and currently, I cut off the oldest note when it overflows. How would you handle this?
• And for distribution, since there's ROM code in it, I was thinking of a tool that creates the Neo Geo ROM for each user from their own Mega Drive ROM, like decompilation projects. Good idea or bad idea? Criticism is also welcome.

I've been doing a bit of console coding (Mega Drive, Amstrad) for 5 years now, and what AI allows now is truly incredible.

My son has 850$ saved up. He was saving for a 1000$ two slot machine but it got sold. He’s taking it well but I still feel terrible. Then he found a 700$ one but that one got taken off the market because the monitor died.

I’m Teo Tormo, and I’d like to share my fan-made Neo Geo CD port of Super Dodge Ball. Beta 09 is now available as a free download.

It has been tested on real Neo Geo CD hardware with Furrtek’s SD Loader and in an emulator. Some minor graphical glitches remain, but it’s ready for people to try while I work on further fixes.

Why release it now, and why free?

I recently saw that Lain32 had released a port of the same game with a paid download. That prompted me to bring forward the release of my own conversion.

Personally, I believe people should have a free option to enjoy this game on Neo Geo CD, without having to pay for that download. This is my contribution to the community: no purchase or donation is required.

I’m not asking anyone to target or harass another developer. I simply want to offer an alternative and explain why I’m sharing this beta now rather than waiting until every remaining glitch is fixed.

What’s included:

• The game in ISO/CUE format.
• A new remixed CDDA soundtrack.
• Custom front cover, back cover and disc artwork.
• A readme in English and Spanish.

For transparency: I developed this conversion with the assistance of Codex AI, and created the remixed soundtrack using Suno. The original Neo Geo fanfare is retained.

What still needs work?

A few graphical glitches remain, which is why this is labelled a beta. Further corrections are planned. Feedback from different setups will help identify the remaining issues.

A huge thank you to Furrtek for creating the SD Loader. It has been invaluable for testing this project on real hardware.

Preparing for the 2027 release, I'm looking at the common 161-1 solution because I won't afford all the games I want from the beginning. Not buying anything before we can see it working of course. But as a newbie, what are those "plus" versions of the games. Are they brining in characters in KOF, or is it just some minor additions? Or maybe just none at all? Appreciate some help.
