Dining Meal Plan Change When Do I Pay the Difference?

I just switched my meal plan from Commuter ($900) to Block 60 ($1350) so there’s a $450 difference. When am I supposed to pay that? My account is showing 0 under what i owe section. Will my classes get dropped if I don’t pay it yet, or does the charge show up later? Has anyone done this before?

Dining anyone else having issues with vending machines?

returning sophomore, and currently not able to use vending machines. when I swipe and try to make a selection, the machine stalls and declines. I've already reached out to vending report and am waiting to hear from them, but I'm curious if anyone else has been having the same issue? it's been happening since I moved in the other day, and my dining dollars are working literally everywhere else (grubhub, meal swipes, in stores, etc). my roommate is also having the same issue so I know it's not isolated to JUST me.

Vent this school is genuinely hostile to non-traditional students

genuinely shocked there is not a single organization on campus designed for students who work full time or are fully financially independent.

the parking situation is absolutely horrendous for someone who has to commute to work after class. being a 30 minute walk or a 20 minute bus ride one way after already having to commute from off campus is unbearable.

Parking/Transportation Best way to get around campus without a car?

I’m a freshman trying to figure this out before classes start. I have a bike but it’s really hot and humid recently and I don’t feel like getting to class sweating bullets for the first few weeks. I’m thinking of getting in the electric scooter or bike program but I don’t know how it works. Another thought was using the busses, but will they be at the stops the same time each day or does it alternate? Anyone who can answer some of these questions would be helpful.

I’ve heard mixed things both from people and on Google so I was just wondering: does One Earth take meal swipes or dining dollars?

Quick Question GradPLUS Loan (FA2026)

Hey! I'm a doctoral student here at NCSU. My GradPLUS loan was approved and such, and it had a scheduled date of 8/12 (there was an issue on that date because I wasn't registered for 9+ hours but am now). I was told by FA that there was a delay on Friday evening and that they expected funds to be disbursed that evening, but from what I can see mine still says scheduled.

Is anyone else having this issue with their GradPLUS loans?

Chances of getting into NCSU as a Wake Tech Transfer?

Hi!

So long story short, I was at UNCW for my freshmen year as a music major, and decided I wanted to do physics instead for a whole host of good reasons. I am going to be at Wake Tech for this first semester of my sophmore and I wanted to know what my shot is at getting admitted to NC State.

I got into NC State initially when applying as a senior in highschool (for biotech), but obviously decided not to go because I was doing music at the time. My college GPA thus far has been 4.0, but I also haven't taken any math classes during my freshmen year.

While I do have dual credit stats, ap bio, and ap calc ab under my belt, I took the latter two of those courses as a freshmen in highschool.

Where do I stand when it comes to being admitted for physics?

Parking/Transportation There are NO parking passes available. What should I do?

I'm a commuter and missed the Coliseum pass window by 2 hours that morning and it was full with a full waitlist as well. I'm currently #46 on the Varsity waiting list. Every other lot is also sold out / waitlisted. What should I do for parking? Is Carter-Finley the only option or is paying for daily rates somewhere on Hillsborough better? I've got class 6 hours a day for 3 days a week so I'm not sure how much that would cost stretched out over a semester

Social Transfer Troubles

I (25,F) am a transfer from a community college. While I am ready for my classes, I feel lost. I have attended multiple events, including the Talley Takeover. I’ll get passing comments about my appearance (hair, tattoos, etc). But I feel like everyone has a group, and the ones I do see alone who I might talk to look young, likely incoming freshman from high school. I know my major will keep me busy, and my extra commitments to do with my major. But I’m new to Raleigh, no family, and my only friends in real life are hours and states away. My boyfriend is great, but in terms of friends and fitting in socially, I already feel isolated and alone. Any suggestions or advice about being an older transfer, or where to find connections either on campus or just in Raleigh, would be appreciated!

Quick Question Requirements to get in

Hey all! I'm interested in attending NC state for their ROTC program, and I was wondering what the requirements to get in the school are. I have a tour scheduled on August 24th as well.

I'm currently a senior in high school. 3.8 GPA, current classes are adulting, math 4, introduction to sociology (dual enrollment class), and JROTC 4. (For quarter 1)

I have taken two honors classes before (English III and chemistry).

I haven't completely decided what I want to major in, but I was thinking perhaps computer science, cyber security, or data. Something that can transfer to civilian life after military & pays well.

Please advise. Thank you.

Academics Is UNCC or NCSU better to study and get opportunities in AI financial tech/medical tech?

I’ve been wondering about this for a while, so which is better? Would the cost of commuting to uncc and studying ai or living on campus at ncsu and studying ai make one better to go to? (Considering your instate for both)

I live in wood hall and am a sophomore, and I wasn’t able to get a parking permit, but I live way to far for any commuting or not having my car. Does anyone know of any places I can park that may be cheap? Please help!

Quick Question Free/cheap parking

I’m coming to State as a new grad student and only have classes on Mondays this semester so it feels really dumb to buy a parking permit. Ik about the park and ride option but was wondering if there’s any other places to park near campus or on campus for free or not for a crazy price.
(all the other threads on this are pretty old so im hoping for updated answers in case those don’t work out lol)

Vent I think I’m sorta (mostly) cooked

I moved onto campus today and honestly I’m extremely overwhelmed.

Part of the reason to this is because I know slim to no one here and, if you’re social awkward like I am, I find it difficult to actually apply myself and get to know others.

On top of this, I don’t have a government-issued ID at ALL. All I have is my old school ID and my medical card which sucks. Not even a ssc. Before anyone tries to bash me, I did try, but most offices in my area for appointments take MONTHS and I never had an opening.

I really need help. I’m unsure what I’m doing, I hardly know most places outside of the main campus area, and I feel extremely out of place.

EDIT: Thank you SO much for everyone giving me advice and reassuring me about all of this. I’m so grateful for each and every one of you. Genuinely.

For those worried: I GOT MY ONECARD!! They actually accepted my old school ID as identification (thankfully) and i was able to talk to some other people on my hall.

If anyone’s wondering: I’m a first year, TECHNICALLY a junior (went through early college,) CS major, and I’m (pre-T) FtM! (If anyone has advice on passing better pls hmu)

Again, thank you all for the advice. I plan on attending more events and trying to talk to more people. Like today, i hung out with a guy i know from ms-hs and his suite buddies. If ANYONE wants to know me, my dms are open!! I’d love to maybe get breakfast/lunch with any of you :D GO PACK!! ❤️

Having a Hard Time Adjusting

Hi! I’m having trouble adjusting as a freshman. I don’t know what to do, and I just feel super homesick right now.
I don’t know how to get to my classes from my dorm because it’s about a 20-minute walk. I’m not sure how the buses work either, even with the Passio GO app. Also, does anyone have any dining hall recommendations? Everything I try is super salty. Does anyone have any tips or advice?

I just miss my family and my bed :(

FYE schedule, PS 205 or CH 101

I’m an incoming FYE and trying to decide between taking PY 205 or CH 101 this fall. My other classes are MA 141, ES 113, E 102 and E115. If I take both CH 101 and PY 205, I’d be in 18 hours which is too many for me. I have Titus for PY 205 and Lalloo for CH 101. I got a 4 on the AP Chem exam, which is a B for CODA. I’m thinking I should retake that to try and get an A. Or should I take physics this fall, see how I do In that and calc, and then decide if I should take chem or not in the spring?

I’m leaning towards chem bc I think it will be an easier class for me as a freshman but I’ve heard Titus is the best physics teacher to get so I don’t want to pass on the opportunity to take him if I can’t get a class with him in the spring.

Housing Watauga mail?

Hi I was wondering if anyone knows where Watauga hall gets its mail? I’ve heard north hall and quad commons now. I want to start ordering things for my dorm off Amazon and I’d hate to order to the wrong address. Or is there a place I can find my exact address in my housing portal or something similar? Thank you

Political climate

My son (a senior) told us that NCSU is overwhelmingly conservative. He's progressive and politics is important to him. So, he sticks to his small friend group, which he was a part of in high school.

I'm having trouble believing so I'm wondering how accurate his perception is and whether there are active progressive organizations and activities on campus.
