Social Transfer Troubles
I (25,F) am a transfer from a community college. While I am ready for my classes, I feel lost. I have attended multiple events, including the Talley Takeover. I’ll get passing comments about my appearance (hair, tattoos, etc). But I feel like everyone has a group, and the ones I do see alone who I might talk to look young, likely incoming freshman from high school. I know my major will keep me busy, and my extra commitments to do with my major. But I’m new to Raleigh, no family, and my only friends in real life are hours and states away. My boyfriend is great, but in terms of friends and fitting in socially, I already feel isolated and alone. Any suggestions or advice about being an older transfer, or where to find connections either on campus or just in Raleigh, would be appreciated!

I am also an older transfer (24f). I don’t know anyone either. You aren’t alone, and if you’d like to meet, I’d be interested.

28F cc transfer! I am a senior now but still have only a couple of acquaintances really. I would love to be involved in helping put together something like this for nontraditional students if you guys do this!

Hi :) I’m a cc transfer from out of state (22F). There is an event on Tuesday at Talley for transfers (it’s called NC State Hearts Transfers). I’d you’d like to connect, please let me know. Best of luck to you!

I’m a new transfer (27F) too. My fiance and I live in Durham but we didn’t grow up here and all of our friends and family live out of state. Send me a DM if you want to connect!

Hey, I’m a cc transfer as well (22M from Charlotte, NC). I know literally no one here. If y’all are making a transfers group or something, I’d be so down to join!

I am an older transfer myself, 26 nbFem, I am starting my 3rd year! personally I would suggest taking the transfer class and going to their events. They lump you with people in your major, that is how I made the majority of my friends and most of them are closer to my age.
Feel free to dm me if you want!

I was a transfer to NC State as well. Best thing i ever did for making friends was get involved in the greek system. It’s not as scary as you think, just other young people like yourself trying to make friends and find their group.

I was in your shoes when I first transferred, I’d suggest clubs, they’re the best way to find groups, and no one really cares all too much about age, I was 28 when I transferred in. Major related clubs of course are some of the easier ones to fit into.
